Chapter 52

Aria's POV

It was time.

Time to destroy a cult.

And I was surprisingly excited.

Finally.

Finally it would all be over.

I couldn't wait.

Couldn't wait to be free to live my life, without my dad, or his creations, hanging over me.

Forest had already introduced me to the warriors.

They had all looked at me suspiciously when he said I was his mate, looking as if I was fake, lying about being his mate, or something like that.... anyway, I guess they decided I was the real deal, because they had gone back to preparing for the attack.

We were setting off in half an hour, and I couldn't tell if it was only me who was excited, or if others were too.

I guess for me it had the added compensation of living a life free from my fathers rule, others didn't have that hanging over their shoulders.

I was almost jumping on the spot, I was impatient, I just wanted to end this.

I relaxed when I felt a pair of arms wrap around my waist, "Hey," Forest said quietly, "It'll be over soon, you just need to wait a little longer."

I turned in his arms to look at him, "But I don't want to wait, I want this over with,"

He laughed lightly, a smile breaking out on his lips, "I know, so do I,"

I waved to Ash and Skye as they made their way over, "Hey guys!" Ash squealed, running over, "How are you feeling,"

We just stared at him, "Just ignore him," Skye said with a sigh, wacking him over the head, "He's very immature this morning."

"When isn't he?" Forest said with a smirk.

I wacked him over the head.

Just then Atlas and Isla came over, "Are you all ready?" Atlas asked.

"Yep," I answered quickly. Very quickly.

Isla laughed, "You seem impatient."

"Oh she is," Forest muttered, loud enough for us to hear, I wacked him on the shoulder and we all laughed.

"Ok everyone," Atlas said. "It's time to attack."

-----------

We were there.

I could see the cult building looming in front of me, the cracked grey walls and broken roof almost blowing over in the wind.

"Are you ready?" Forest whispered quietly from beside me. I nodded, I was too scared to speak.

I was ready.

But I was scared.

I took a deep breath, "Let's do this,"

Atlas nodded to me, then made the signal to go forward, he sent me a reassuring smile then they broke down the door.

-----------

Chaos broke out. Immediately.

The rogues came pouring out the doors and down the corridors and fight broke out around me.

Rogue against warrior.

Cult member against pack member.

Evil against good.

I quickly shifted into my wolf, not having enough time to even consider that it would be painful, since I hadn't shifted for a few weeks.

I felt the pain, but I saw a rogue running towards me and just ignored it, pushing the pain to the side so I could fight.

So I could survive.

I jumped on his back, biting down on, snapping his spine.

Ending his pathetic life.

One down.

99 to go.

---------

I continued to fight, rogues dropping at my feet like flies.

We were winning.

The 100 rogues were down to 10 rogues.

But those ten were better fighters.

They were harder to take down, it took more effort, more energy.

I was fighting one of them, and I was winning.

Until I felt a searing pain down my side, but it wasn't my pain.

I turned around to see three of the rogues on Forest.

How dare they attack my mate.

How dare they hurt what's mine.

My wolf was fuming.

I was fuming.

The rogue attacking me bit down on my leg, but I didn't feel it.

My pain was masked by anger.

We were a volcano ready explode into a burning inferno.

And so we did.

I saw red.

Within seconds the rogue who had attacked me was dead and I was leaping towards Forest.

The rogues looked at me as I barrelled towards them, but they moved too late.

I was a whirlwind of death.

The rogues were going to die at my hands.

Forest was still lying there, not moving.

His pain.

I could feel it.

It only fueled my anger.

I lunged again, jumping into of one of them, holding onto his neck as he tried to buck me off.

I wouldn't give up.

I wouldn't let go.

Not until he was dead.

I bit down, feeling his body go limp under me.

Not wasting any time, I jumped from one rogue to the next, holding on until he joined the first to his fate.

I was so angry I didn't think of what I was doing.

I didn't think of those who I was killing.

They were all apart of one enemy.

Every rogue I killed, I saw my father.

I felt like I was finally beating him.

He would not get away with what they, what he did to my mate.

I didn't stop until there was a pile of bodies by my feet and all the rogues where gone.

But I was still angry.

I still wanted something to kill.

Skye came up beside me.

I turned to her.

Hunger burning in my eyes.

"Relax," she said, her arms in front of her in surrender, "you need to calm down Ari,"

I didn't want to calm down.

I wanted blood.

Atlas came running over, "Aria stand down, you can't kill anything more, Forest needs you,"

With those simple words my anger receded.

Forest.

Forest.

Forest.

He needed me.

I ran over to him, my wolf howling as we took in his condition.

He was covered in blood, both his and rogues.

He was bleeding out a large gash on his side.

I crunched down by his side, nudging his face with my nose.

He didn't react.

I held my face by his nose.

Not daring to breath.

Hoping to feel his breath against my fur.

One.

Two.

Three.

Breath.

I felt my fur blow slightly.

I sat up, howling with joy.

He wasn't dead.

But he was injured....

After seeing he wasn't dead I sat back, letting the pack doctor heal him.

Hopefully.

----------

"Please wake up Forest," I whispered.

Hoping he would hear me.

Hoping he would listen.

Hoping he would wake up.

But he didn't.

I sat by his bedside.

Hoping he would wake up soon.

We had won.

But at what cost.
