I stood in front of the mirror gazing at my reflection.
Damn I look sexy!
As per the brides instructions, the brides maids would all have their makeup a neutral blush pink, and they would all have blush pink dresses with beautiful flower crowns with their hair parted in the middle.
She wanted a rustic theme going for her wedding which I think was a good choice because it really did compliment her personality.
I looked back at the beautiful bride sitting on an ottoman, looking nervous, she had an off white modest dress on with her hair braided and resting on her open back, she decided to not have a veil on.
"Hey, get a grip! You'll be fine" I yelled at her, getting frustrated.
"I'm getting cold feet Kate!"
"Calm down, deep breaths, it's your wedding day! It only happens once! Unless you get married twice which is always a big possibility and-"
"Kate! Shut up! You're not helping! She's going to pass out!"
Ah! My late best friend decided to show up!
"And where have you been Miss Juliana?"
She blushed looking down.
Definitely with Derick.
"I was trying to calm down a shivering groom, only to come back to a breathless bride, couldn't you give her a bit of confidence!"
"Juliana, my dear sister-in-law to be, it really doesn't help me knowing you were with your boyfriend" Natalie said, biting her thumb.
"Come on Natalie! You've been together for five years! Kate can't even keep a boyfriend for 5 months!" She laughed, pointing at me.
"Hey!" I shouted but sadly it's the truth, at least I've kept a guy for about seven months, that's a record.
"Sis, you really have to calm down, it's not everyday you get to look so beautiful, no clue how you attracted your hunk of man" Natalie's sister, Cameron joked making us all glare at her.
She really is like Julies sister.
I'm still surprised Natalie made me her bridesmaid, we became close because Julie asked me to come on a trip to see her brother and we hit it off quick.
Our wonderful bridesmaids crew consists of me, Julie, Cameron, Nina and two of Natalie's friends; Isla and Carly.
"Am I doing the right thing? Your mom still hasn't warmed up to me" she said worriedly, looking at Juliana.
"My Mom has warmed up to you! She's just very..."
"Unaffectionate, cruel, self centered-"
"Shut up Kate!" The both of them yelled at me, making me put my hands up.
"What? It's the truth"
They rolled their eyes and the door opened and there she was, in all her glory.
Lucia.
Speak of the devil and he shall appear, she looked great for her age, just like the evil queen.
She was wearing a dress much like the one the bridesmaids were wearing only a bit more appropriate for their age.
"What's with all the shouting?! I need a calm bride for the wedding!"
"Mamà, she's just nervous, you can't blame her" Julie smiled.
She's way too big of a goody two shoes.
"I'd rather not talk to someone whose too much of a coward to ask her boyfriend when they're getting married" her mother huffed, rolling her eyes at her.
Okay that's too much.
Julie looked down in shame, listen this is all that douchbag Derick's fault, he's too much of a wuss to propose again.
"It's not like she is the one who can propose! She has to wait for that idiot to do it" I sneered, who cares if she's my best friends mother, she's overstepping her boundaries even as a mother.

"I won't be surprised if he leaves her after a bit" she crossed her arms smirking.
I was about to say something when Natalies mother, Ariel came in and she looked like an angel standing next to the devil.
She was wearing a dress that was very much like Natalie's and she had her silver hair in an updo.
"Is everything alright ladies?" She smiled.
"Mom..." Natalie piped.
"Yes?" both Lucia and Ariel piped, they both looked at each other and they both giggled earning a shock from all of us.
When did they get so close?
They both smiled and went over to each sit beside Natalie and gave her a hug.
"It's okay niño" Lucia smiled.
I was so surprised Lucia can smile? And laugh? I looked over to Julie and saw her with a sad smile.
'Are you okay?' I mouthed.
She nodded, smiling.
Definitely not okay.
There was a knock on the door and it was the event planner saying everyone needs to be in place.
We all wished Natalie good luck and I went over and held Julie's hand going over to the altar.
I saw both Issac and Derick standing next to the groom and another guy that I'm assuming is the grooms best friend.
The women here must be swooning, so many handsome men in one room.
As I was walking someone abruptly held my arm almost making me fall, but thank God I was holding Julies hand.
I turn to see the idiot and was about to give him hell when I suddenly didn't feel up to it anymore.
"I'll go ahead" Julie smiled, patting me on the back.
"Can we talk?"
"No Victor, we can't"
I pulled my arm out of his grip and walked forward.
As though I'd let an ass like him mess with me again.
"Please Kate, I need to talk"
"We're surrounded by walls, I'm sure one of them can give you the time of day!" I smiled sarcastically, walking away.
"I guess it's my turn to ask, are you okay?" Julie asked, seeming concerned.
Derick you big baby b*tch I swear if you don't propose to this angel soon, I will marry her myself!
"I'm fine" I sighed, glaring really intensely at Derick.
I finally felt calm enough to take in the scene in front of me.
They had really done a great job with the place.
They had gone for an indoor rustic floral theme which looked gorgeous but maybe a little too girly for my taste.
Then the event planner came in and told us there has been a change of plans and that we'd have to participate in helping the bride down the isle.
We were all handed a basket of rose petals and were instructed to have two bridesmaids in-front of the bride and two behind her.
It was a cheesy idea but why should I care, it's not my wedding.
The lights dimmed and we all held our breaths show time.
The band started playing as the doors opened to reveal the beautiful bride and her father.
It was me and Carly's cue to walk as we were the ones that were put in the front.
I was throwing the petals and all I could think that I'm in no rush, it was like a broken record stick on repeat.
I'm in no rush.
We're in no rush.
No one is in a rush.
Me and Derick both agreed to take it slow, but...
It's kind of hard when your mother is breathing down your neck.

I shook my head and focused on the beautiful wedding.
I like how simple and charming it feels.
My eyes met Derick's.
Derick you idiot, propose already!
At least then we can be engaged and take it slow.
I love my mom and completely respect her but Derick I'm starting to think she won't even agree to us getting married!
I hadn't noticed we had reached the alter because of my internal argument with Derick, me and the bridesmaids quickly stepped to the brides side, the planner stealthily handing us our bouquets.
I felt myself smiling enviously when I saw Natalie's father put her hand in Leo's.
My mind suddenly slipped away for the hundredth time today.
I imagined myself in a beautiful gown, one of those gowns that I used to see on cheesy reality shows.
Beautiful and overly expensive.
I imagined Derick taking my hand and slipping on a ring after our 'I dos' and giving me a kiss.
A tender moment as we had finally become husband and wife.
I imagined our first dance to a song we had to argue about until we chose.
A song that had the sweetest meaning.
I was pulled out of my daze by an elbow nudging me, I turned to glare at Nina and she pointed at the bride and groom.
"Do you, Peter Sanchez take Natalie Westervelt to be your lawfully wedded wife to have and to hold from this day forward, for better or for worse, for richer, for poorer, in sickness and in health, to love and to cherish; from this day forward until death do you part?" The priest directed at Leo.
"I do" Leo grinned, gently taking her hand and sliding on the ring then looking lovingly at Natalie.
"And do you, Natalie Westervelt take Peter Sanchez to be your lawfully wedded husband to have and to hold from this day forward, for better or for worse, for richer, for poorer, in sickness and in health, to love and to cherish; from this day forward until death do you part?" He said turning to her.
"I do" she grinned enchantingly back at him as she too, slid on his ring.
"I now pronounce you Man and Wife, you may kiss the bride" the priest smiled with satisfaction.
And Leo being the extra and flamboyant man that he is grabbed Natalie by the waist and tipped her before kissing her passionately making the whole room cheer congratulations.
He pulled her into his arms and carried her down the isle.
We made our way to the reception hall and everyone was in their designated seats.
The bride and groom took to the main table and the bridesmaids and best men sat around them, I sat next to Leo and Derick sat next to me.
We had a girl-guy pattern all round the table.
"I'm happy for the both of you, you deserve each other" I smiled at the both of them.
They gave their thanks and got distracted by the meal in front of them, I can imagine how hungry they must be.
I felt a hand grab mine and turned to see Derick smiling warmly at me.
"You look beautiful"
"You told me that already" I blushed.
"I can't get enough"
"I live with you now, I'm sure you're starting to get tired of me" I laughed.
Yup, we now officially live together, work together and sleep together.
We've been around each either 24/7 for the past year.
We've been dating for two years and it's been so fun, I love Kate believe me, I do, but it's so nice living with someone that doesn't scream every ten seconds.
We made small talk over the meal.
We heard the sound of a microphone and it was the best man, I think his name was Asher.
"Ladies and gentleman, thank you for all coming to celebrate this joyous and miracle of a celebration, I've known Peter since we were both waiters working in a small cafe, barely scraping by, now look at us, both respectable business owners, and look at him, married, to a beautiful woman, I wish but nothing for the happily married couple, cheers!"
"Cheers!" Everyone smiled, raising their champagne glasses and clapping.
"Now for the first dance from the bride and groom"
The first chords of a beautiful melody start on the piano which I recognize immediately.
Beautiful In White by Shane Filan.

How cute!
That's definitely Leo's taste.
That look of adoration he has for Natalie is every woman's dream.
So as long as I live I love you
Will have and hold you
You look so beautiful in white
And from now 'til my very last breath
This day I'll cherish
You look so beautiful in white
Tonight
The Choreography was amazing, especially when towards the end he puts her forehead on hers.
I must have looked starstruck because Derick put his head on my shoulder and whispered in my ear.
I couldn't hear him all that well and wanted to ask him to repeat it but the dance ended and everyone started clapping, it was followed by cheers as he leaned in and gave her a long and passionate kiss.
"Couples you may now join the bride and groom on the dance floor for the next song"
"Wanna dance?" Derick smiled, reaching for my hand.
I smiled back and took his hand.
He's acting suspicious.
When we got into the dance floor the music started playing and it started with a broken record.
I was confused and couldn't think of a song when the angelic voice of Brandon Urie filled my ears.
"Death of a bachelor?" I smiled looking up at Derick as we started to sway to the song.
[There should be a GIF or video here. Update the app now to see it.]
I'm going to have to thank Leo for this one too I bet or maybe Natalie picked it as a joke.
Either way I love this song.
The death of a bachelor
Oh oh
Letting the water fall
The death of a bachelor
Oh oh
Seems so fitting for
Happily ever after
How could I ask for more?
A lifetime of laughter
At the expense of the death of a bachelor
I'm sure I had a stupid grin on my face the entire time, I shake my head and look back at the couple when I feel them look at me and smile, I see the light directed at me and feel Derick let go of me and see him get on one knee with a ring in hand.
He smiles and raises an eyebrow.
His way of saying 'will you marry me?'
"Oh my God, you're so cheesy" I smiled, trying to play it cool.
Not being able to contain myself any longer, I screamed and jumped into his arms, he started laughing with me before kissing my forehead and sliding on the engagement ring.
We heard claps all around and the song continued to play in the background.
"So it's a death of a bachelor huh?" I smirked.
"Oh this bachelor died two years ago" he chuckled, wrapping one hand on my waist and holding my hand with his other.
I placed my head and hand on his shoulder soaking in his musky scent.
"I love you Mr. Reid"
"I love you more Mrs. Reid to be"
We kissed.
And kept kissing, the evening was the best moment in my life.
Engaged to the love of my life, surrounded by friends and family.
I can't be happier.
Actually I can.
They started playing a reggae! Bailemos by CNCO.
Now it's time to dance!

"You're going to have to translate for me beautiful" Derick smirked.
"I first want to know how you and Leo conspired behind my back" I raised an eyebrow.
"Easy, I did it behind your back, now tell me what is it they're saying that's making you grind yourself against me, my love?"
"That's for me to know and you to Google my love" I sigh feeling his hands glide up my waist.
Now this is the perfect end to a perfect night...

Noli Me Tank in a Mall
Noli Me Tangere and El Filibusterismo are important cultural works that ignited the Philippine Revolution against Spain. They are novels that exposed to the populace the abuses and the injustices of their Spanish colonial rulers, the hypocrisy of their priests, and inherent cruelty of their class structure over the powerless masses. Unfortunately, they rose up in the middle of the Spanish-American War, one which saw Spain lose most of their overseas colonies and decisively end as a World Power. The war ended in the 1898 Treaty of Paris, in which Spain also sold the Philippines to the USA for the sum of twenty million dollars. The revolutionary government was then crushed by the overwhelming military might of the United States and the Philippines turned into a territory. While the Philippines stands as the USA's greatest successes in nation-building, their early occupation left almost one-fifth of the population dead from combat and disease. Jose Rizal was executed by the Spanish long before knowing what might happen to his country. The world presented within The Noli and the El Fili is therefore stuck frozen in time, forever caught in that moment before a Revolution. Now let's see what happens to this nation if we give it the Light Novel treatment and jam the entirety of the Internet into their protagonist's skull and watch him try to fix things with his unfortunate tendency to sound like a supervillain. Updates Mondays and Fridays. Note: The Noli and El Fili have been public domain since 1946. This is completely fair game.
