《Strictly Professional ✔️》Chapter 42

"Mr. Reid, your father is in his usual place" The waiter said before someone called him.
Derick nodded and held my hand tightly as he took me to what I assume is his father's usual place...
WAIT?! FATHER?! HE NEVER TOLD ME THAT I'M GOING TO BE MEETING HIS DAD!
"Derick, sweetheart? When were you going to inform me that we're going to be meeting your daddy dearest?"
"Oh it must have slipped my mind darling"
"You're very comedic today, aren't you?"
"Wouldn't want to bore you to death, don't worry, whatever he says I'm not even going to be listening, plus you need to look intimidating, there's someone else you're about to meet"
"Who?"
Before I could get an answer out of him he opened the door and revealed a three seater round table.
Two of the seats were occupied by a man who looked like he was in his mid forties but still he had a great build and a woman who was the epitome of beauty.
Blonde wavy hair, high natural cheek bones, big blue eyes, big pouty lips, now this is the whole package over here!
The old man flashed us a smile I can recognize from a mile away.
Derick's dad, Davis Reid.
"Ah, Derick, you're late my boy, me and Danielle have been waiting for awhile now, I'm afraid we don't have a seat for your..."
"My girlfriend, don't worry she can sit on my lap, can't you sweetheart?"
I stared at him in surprise, why didn't he say Jewel? Better yet, why his lap?!
"Uhm, I think I can go ask a waiter for another chair" I whispered.
He glared at me and took a seat.
What's with the glare?! I'm not sitting on your lap bro, at least not in front of your dad!
"How about some wine to lighten up the mood?" His father offered and Derick shoved his wine glass in front of his face maybe a little too eagerly.
Taking a big gulp of the wine he looked at the woman with pure hatred in his eyes.
"So father, this is who I'm going to marry? I think you underestimate me too much, do you actually think I'll come running back to the girl who opens her legs to anyone with-"
I coughed, cutting him off before he can finish that sentence and making him look up and send another glare my way.
A waiter walked in holding a chair, thanking him I sat down.
How did they know I needed a chair?
"So my dear, care to introduce yourself?" His father said but from the look on his face, I can tell he already knew who I was.
"I-"
"I think you know enough about her, father, she doesn't need to say anything"
That jerk actually cut me off! What's happened to him? Oh my God! I just realized! It's his bipolar prego mood swings!
That makes so much sense! and just like when you have to deal with a pregnant woman, I have to grin and bear it.

"So Danielle, when did you come back?" Derick asked swinging his second glass of wine around in the glass.
"Almost a month ago," she replied timidly.
"And how come you haven't visited me at the office yet? I think there were a couple of employees you found... interesting"
"Because I'm still in love Derick, my heart still can't let go" she said almost tearing up.
"Wow, you still know how to talk bullsh*t even after all this time, I'm impressed" Derick spat.
"I'm sorry am I missing something here?!" I finally said.
Everyone turned to look at me and I regret ever opening my mouth.
While Danielle and Davis smirk at me, Derick just glares like he's been doing ever since we came here.
"My dear, did Derick not tell you? This is his fiancé, are you surprised?" Davis said, feigning innocence.
Fiancé?! Oh Derick, you have some major explaining to do buddy!
I didn't let my emotions show and just smiled sweetly.
You want me to be intimidating, I'll show you intimidating asshole.
"No actually, I'm not really surprised, he did tell me about a fiancé but I just didn't know she was said fiancé" I lied smoothly, Derick is going to have hell to pay when all of this is over.
Danielle perked up.
"Oh? do you know me?"
"No, I have no clue who you are"
"How funny, I wonder why my dear fiancé hasn't mentioned that we used to date back in college"
"It must be because you're old news" I smirked, sipping my wine.
"I don't know, there's a saying that your first love is your true love"
"What a load of bullsh*t! First love my ass! I think the only thing you were was a fling!" he said gulping down his fourth glass of wine.
"Derick slow down, I get that you can hold your liquor but now isn't the time or place for that" I whispered.
He ignored me and went ahead and poured himself another glass.
Fine! Get drunk! See if I care!
"Do you propose to all your flings?" She smirked.
Propose?!
Derick I'm going to torture you before I kill you!
Why am I even jealous?!
Right now I'm his number one! Not her! Who cares he wanted to propose! Well news flash lady! He's mine now!
"Even if he never mentioned me, you must have heard about me somewhere, heiress, model, kind hearted angel? Those are some of my names"
Way to toot your own horn, am I right?
"No, you must not be that well known in America, where are you from exactly? Poland?"
I wanted to die laughing, her face just read 'B*tch, do I look Polish to you?' I know she's French, my God! Everything about her screams French!
"Non, je suis française, contrairement à vous, j'ai cours et une grande éducation" she giggled.
(No, I'm French, unlike you I have class and greatly educated)
I'm not sure what she said but I just nodded and sipped my wine again.

"I advise you not to make fun of her you b*tch! She has ten times the class you do! At least she has the decency to respect a relationship!" Boomed a voice from beside me.
She made fun of me?! And I had the stupidity to just nod?!
That's something that will haunt me at night.
"Derick! I'll have you know, you need to learn to respect people! She's your bride to be! Do you not want the company to be successful?!" Davis slammed his hands on the table.
"It's not like you really care about the company! All you care about is your monthly allowance!" Derick laughed humorlessly.
"How dare you speak to me like that?! I am your father and you have to learn to respect-"
And the door opened cutting off their extremely loud argument.
"Please enjoy your meal" said the waiter after placing our dishes and leaving.
"Oh Juliana we forgot to order for you! Then again, we had no idea you were coming!" Davis said furrowing his eyebrows.
"No it's fine I'll just share with Derick, right?"
"Of course but who ordered my dish?" He asked sternly.
Oh no, not a good sign.
"I did" Danielle piped out.
"I don't want it, babe you can have it all"
Ugh I hate it when someone calls me babe.
"Thanks babe"
"But why Derick? Isn't this your favorite meal?" She pouted.
"After you cheated I started throwing up after eating it because it reminded me of your ugly face"
What's with the comebacks? He sounds like a b*tchy teenager.
Which is alarming.
For a minute the only sounds coming from the room was the moving of cutlery.
"You understand French?" I Whispered while we were silent.
"Oh sweetheart he's fluent! You didn't know?"
And of course she heard me!
I swear I'm going to start taking French lessons!
Way to feed my overthinking self!
"It's not that she didn't know, it's just I never told her, sure you know French but she speaks fluent Spanish!"
Thanks to my heritage? What is wrong with him today?
"Really? Impressive, Spanish is such a... nice language"
It must've hurt getting that compliment out of your mouth.
"It really is, I have a question, how exactly did you and Derick's proposal go? If you both aren't married I assume something must've happened?" I asked faking concern.
It must've caught her off guard that I asked such a question and when I glanced over at Derick he was watching me curiously.
"It was nothing but a simple misunderstanding," she said sadly but I could see a smile tugging at her lips.
Derick scoffed and swallowed the whole glass of wine in one gulp.
It's his seventh.
"Now, let me ask you a personal question Juliana, you work for Derick, no?" she smiled evilly.
I knew she was going to bring this up at some point, she knows about me.
"Yes I do"
"And you don't feel shame? Seducing your employer? Are you that desperate for money? You give a bad name to women, but then again, you're just a gold digger, no?"
"I think you must be talking into a mirror because you took the words right out of my mouth and no, I don't feel shame, I feel proud I was able to get a man like Derick on his knees without opening my legs for him, so I think you should go f*ck yourself, no?" I finished mimicking her provoking 'no?'.
"Should we leave Derick?" I smiled reaching for his hand.
He gave me a dazed smile and I found out he was drunk.
Maybe tipsy.
Great.
That's a problem I'm going to be dealing with.
"I don't think you'll be leaving just yet sweetheart, have you talked to your father recently?"
I stopped in my tracks.
I haven't.
"No, why?"
"I heard he's been having health issues, which I think he's been hiding from you"
"I don't know what you're talking about, last time I called, he said he was in Nashville, visiting family"
"Did you think to check on him?"
I gulped and walked out dragging Derick by the hand.
*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*
"Beautiful, why are we outside? I want another drink" Derick hiccuped.
I glared at him and pulled out my phone out.
I searched the name and hit call.
"Julie, baby, hi, how are you? Why are you gracing me with a call? More importantly how are you feeling after, you know, the stuff with the media?"
"Hello? Look Issac, can we talk later? Your buddy over here is drunk and I need you to help me out before I push him onto the road, I'm at Chez Oplar"
"Be there in a few minutes and please, try not to kill him before I get there"
"It's kind of hard when he's trying to give me hug and I'm so angry with him that I just might kill him for it"
He chuckled and the line went dead.
I felt arms wrap around my waist.
"Julieee, I loveee youuu" He slurred, which honestly, is pretty cute.
"Yeah, yeah" I waved it off, looking at the time.
I felt him dragging me.
"Derick? Where are you going? You-" I'm cut off when I'm suddenly pinned to the wall in an alleyway.
"What-"
He kissed me before I can even form a sentence and it kept going, it was passionate, demanding, angry.
"Next time I say I love you, I expect it back" he whispered.
"What if I changed my mind about loving you?" I dared to ask.
"My beautiful Jewel, the minute you walked into my office and got the job, you were associated with me, like it or not, you're in too deep to climb out"
He came in for another kiss and I turned my face to the other side, making him kiss my cheek, but that didn't stop him, he kept going lower, he started kissing my neck making me bite my lip.
"Well, what do we have here?" A voice said startling the both of us.
Well, sh*t.
