'It's Satuday,' You opened your heavy eyes, only to be blinded by the cheerful rising sun. You rolled off the bed quickly in excitement. You remembered the moment you had with Leon on Friday and blushed, hiding your smiling face at the same time.
His skinny but strong arms surrounded your body, emitting a solacing heat that warmed your heart. You had stopped crying and instead just laid on his chest, inhaling his pleasant scent. It smelled like home, familiar and comforting. Unwrapping your arms around Leon, you placed your hands on his chest and buried your head deeper into his neck. Was it wrong that you craved this?
Leon embraced you tightly, as if you were going to let go. He was so happy you showed some vulnerability to him, especially how cold you've been to him lately. Leon slowly raised his hand and delicately stroked the back of your head, combing your smooth h/c hair. Although he was very happy and excited by the close position right now, he masked it with a gentle demeanor to calm you down.
"What's wrong, Y/N?" Leon resumed to stroke your silky hair. It was so soft. He sighed slowly in content, masking it with an exhale. He wanted to stay like this forever.
"Sometimes, I just feel really insecure, you know?" You sniffed a bit. You took out a sheet of tissue from your tissue packet and blew your nose. "I mean, you're extremely intelligent, Lizzy is really athletic, and both of you look really attractive."
Leon's faced turned sour. He should cut Lizzy's face and see how pretty she is then. But instead, he tightened his hold on you while you continued, "I, on the other hand, am average, and I don't excel in any subjects either. Sometimes, I wonder what will happen in the future if I can't rise to the top. I also wonder if it's okay to be selfish in my life." You played with some of his curly hair, thinking about the love triangle between you, him, and Lizzy.
"Y/N-"
"Now that I think of it, you and Lizzy would be a great power couple. I can see that she likes you a lot," You smiled bitterly, thinking of all the times Lizzy has gushed about Leon. They truly would look good together; the smart and the athletic power couple of their school.
The boy pulled away slightly to see your face. Your eyes were swollen from crying and your whole face was red. He gave you a small smile, lifting his left hand so it's on your cheek and secured your waist with his right. "You're not worthless. You defended me when I couldn't defend myself and picked me up from a dark place. You don't have to be sporty or smart to be the best."
"But-"
Leon placed his thumb on your lips to silence you. "No buts. I've grown more confident than I ever have for the past few years because of you. Just remember, even if you're in a dark place, you will always have me. I promise to always be there for you. So don't cry, okay? And Y/N, don't forget that it doesn't hurt to be a little selfish once in a while, right?"
'I love you,' He wanted to say. 'I need you so much it hurts.'
But he couldn't muster up the courage to do so. Leon felt his confidence deflating, returning back to the shy demeanor he once had.

"P-plus," Leon's stuttering came back, "I don't like L-lizzy, I l-like someone else." You froze a bit. Did he like someone else? Or did he maybe, just maybe, like you?
"O-oh, who is it?"
"I'm not t-telling," His faced turned redder than it already is. Huh. He must really like her.
"Fine..." You pouted, feeling a bit better. You hoped it was you. You wanted it to be you.
"A-anyways. If you ever feel sad or vulnerable, y-you can always talk to me." He scratched his head awkwardly and looked away. You were still on his lap and it felt like a dream. Leon wished that this happened everyday. He wanted to suffocate you with kisses, smother you with hugs and most of all, spend the rest of eternity together. Leon didn't want to live off just sneaking into your room and stealing collecting souvenirs; he wanted you in to be on his bed, or sleep on his chest, or just touch you in general.
Snapping out of his thoughts, he felt you move so he adjusted his body position so you can get off, thinking you had enough of him. You took that as a sign that he didn't want you on his lap because you were heavy and blushed in embarrassment. Both you and Leon were became cold by the loss of human heat. You shivered a bit, wanting to stay in his arms just a little longer. You thought about what Leon said about being selfish.
"Leon?"
He turned his head towards you."Y-yes?"
"Can we, uh, meet up tomorrow?"
Leon's heart spluttered to a stop for a second. You wanted more time with him?
"Of course!" Leon said happily, he seemed more confident talking now. It seems like a compliment or an offer to spend time with you seemed to boost his whole being up.
"Didn't you say you were busy?" You raised your eyebrow in a humorous way, knowing that he actually lied to Lizzy the other day. You knew Leon, he'd finish the homework the same day it was set. Leon smiled sheepishly.
"Well I sort of lied about that. I didn't really want to go." Your insides danced happily knowing he wanted to go somewhere with you instead of Lizzy. But what if he's just saying he wants to go because you were feeling vulnerable?
"Leon, if you don't want to go, you don't have to." You checked one more time, making sure he actually wasn't feeling unconsciously pressured to go.
"Of course I want to go," Leon insisted, making sure you actually got the message. He'd go with you anywhere; preferably at home so no one can interrupt the two of you.
"Saturday at four, my place, 'kay?" He nodded. Wait. Leon's going to your place! Leon's going to your place for once! And he's actually invited. This time, it'd be easier to go through your things because he's allowed to be there. His heart tingled in excitement, the butterflies in his stomach dancing from the overflowing love being poured inside him.
"Okay!" Leon smiled like he's trying to hold in his excitement. He just can't wait.
"Oh jeez, it's Saturday!" Getting up from the floor, you ran around getting ready for today. It was already 12 o'clock when you woke up. Made sense when you slept at 2AM during the weekends. It was a surprise your parents didn't wake you up at such a late time. But then again, they're probably still asleep too. You trudged downstairs slowly, not wanting to waste unnecessary energy.

Turns out you were wrong; your parents weren't asleep but cooking breakfast and watching the news. Ah, so they forgot about you. That makes better sense.
"Guys, Leon's coming over today at 4 so please don't do anything to embarrass me." You started. You knew your parents had a knack of humiliating you; whether it was intentionally or not. Your parents both turned to look at you.
"Hey, who said anything about that? I consider myself very cool thank you very much." Your dad defended. Your mother rolled her eyes at him.
"F/N. We all know that's not true, stop telling lies. Anyways, I hope you don't mind me showing a few photos of you to my son in law," M/N squealed.
"Mom. Please don't. No." You deadpanned. She shrugged.
"I just want him to get a better idea of what he's gonna make in the future." You choked on your own saliva.
"Mom! Even more no! I beg of you, don't mention that when he comes over. It's his first time for goodness sake!" That sounded even more wrong. Both your parents snickered at the unintended sexual innuendo. What is wrong with your family today?
"Fine I won't mention the grandchildren. But he still deserves to see the baby pictures. Leon's your boyfriend after all, right?" She smiled teasingly. You understood why your parents were like that now. It seems the both have assumed that you and Leon were dating because you went out a few weeks ago.
"Mom, I'm not dating him..." You blushed a bit. Your mom pouted.
"But... the grandbabies..." She gasped dramatically, flipping the pancakes at the same time. On the outside, M/N may seem like a very calm and capable businesswoman but you knew what she truly was at heart - a child.
You scoffed. "I'll pump one out eventually, okay? How many times do I have to tell you that I'm too young and unprepared for children."
"I'm not letting anyone touch my daughter sexually until she's at least graduated from university." F/N turned his head from the TV to you and your mom, not wanting to be left out. "She'll be our baby 'till the end. Speaking of being sexually intimate..." The look in his eyes said it all.
"Dad.. please, spare me. I'd rather go through mom's lecture about cutting the vegetables rather than a sex talk with my dad." He looked disappointed, excited from the idea of explaining this concept to his daughter; he wanted to embarrass you as much as possible.
"Fine, I'll refrain from the birds and the bees until you're of age."
"Anyways, when is he coming? Brunch is ready by the way," M/N said, bringing her own plate to the dining table. You took your stack of freshly made pancakes and snagged the syrup on the way. Placing the plate on the dining table, you sat down and started eating. Unlike you and your mother who are lazy and wake up at noon, your father was an organised man; he woke up at around 8 or 9 in the morning, immediately making a good old sandwich and a cup of coffee. But still, F/N decided to join the two of you in the dining table to chat about random things.
Your family valued communication a lot, which was why you considered yourself lucky you grew up in such a peaceful and loving household.
"-and then he asked me to do that, which isn't even part of my job! At that moment, I had the urge to-" Your father was complaining about work again. Sometimes, you wonder if you're just a slave to his rants. Your mom, accustomed to his rants, just stayed silent and patted his shoulder in fake sympathy.
"I know it's tough honey, you just gotta deal with it until you get that promotion." She nodded her head in pretend understanding, as if she was listening. He sighed, seeing past her lie.
"You're not listening are you?" You and your mom both shook your head.
"Nope."
Suddenly, your phone which you left on the table buzzed, the screen lighting up to show a message notification.
"Who's that?" Your mom curiously peered over your phone. You tilted the screen, checking who the text was from.
"Just Leon."
"You sure he's 'just Leon' to you?" M/N joked.
You rolled your eyes and exclaimed, "No. Mom stop butting into my non-existent love life!"
"But surely a normal girl this age would have a normal high school crush. It just doesn't make sense!" Your dad exclaimed.
You rolled your eyes. Your parents have always been super nosy when it comes to trivial things like these. You're glad they respected your actual privacy at least. M/N and F/N looked at each other, talking silently.
"Anyways, Y/N, since you and Leon are going to stay here your father and I have decided to go out to the mall for a date. It's been so long since we've actually spent time together."
You were confused, how did they all of that from a silent conversation?
"It took us a lot of practice," Your mother answered, reading your mind. Your dad just cleared his throat really loudly, remembering all the times they practiced this skill with different scenarios in their minds. The secret was to look at each other for a moment, then only let M/N speak and have F/N agree with her. Silent conversations were impossible no matter how many times they tried it.
"Just don't do anything we would do," Your father said suggestively, receiving a smack on the head from your mother.
"You mean we wouldn't do, right F/N?" F/N rubbed his head, nodding.
Your parents left at three, one hour before Leon's supposed arrival. They waved at you whilst getting in the car and getting ready to drive to who-knows-where.
"And don't forget! Don't be silly, cover his willy!" You facepalmed, closing the door as if the people outside were strangers and not your parents. Still, you waved at them through the window when your parents started their journey.
After they left, you decided to relax until Leon got here. Finding the remote control, you jumped onto the sofa and decided to watch good old Netflix. It was all going well until suddenly, you felt a familiar warm liquid gush through your lower body.
Ah fuck. It's your period.
You let out a string of curses while you felt your lower abdominal start to cramp a bit. You knew it was going to get worse soon. Just your luck, Leon is supposed to be here in 10 minutes! Getting up, you went to the toilet and rummaged through the cabinets to find your pads. Thank the gods you still had one left.
After you finished up on your business, the doorbell rang. You rushed to get the door, not wanting your guest to wait too long.
"Hi!" Leon beamed at you, engulfing you into a hug. It felt very nice.
You realized not many people came to your house and you didn't know what to do, so you said, "Let's go to the bedroom."
"W-what?" Leon flushed a deep red. Dammit, what was with your sexual innuendos today!
'Nodirtythoughtsnodirtythoughtsnodirtythoughts-' Leon thought of something dirty. 'Why?!'
"It's more comfy there," You explained. Leon let out a breath of relief, for he was not ready to do sexual things yet. He didn't even know how to kiss a girl!
"O-okay, I guess..."
You were rushing to get on your bed - your sanctuary - so you grabbed his hand and rushed upstairs.
"Sit anywhere you like. Or you can lay on my bed. I don't care." Is it just Leon, or did you seem more moodier than usual? You crawled onto your bed, ducked under your covers and got into a fetal position, trying to get the perfect position.
"A-are you okay?" Leon was concerned now. What was up with you? You were acting so weird.
"Yeah-" You muffled in pain through the pillow .
"A-ah, do you need me to get water?" The panicking boy shook you as if you were unconscious or dying.
"Yee." Even your words weren't pronounced right anymore.
"Okay." It was like he was the host and you were the guest now. How the tables have turned. Leon bolted down the stairs towards the kitchen, trying to find where your family kept the drinkable water. He knew your bedroom like the back of his hand but he's never explored the bottom floor. He only saw it when he picked you up for the amusement park 'date'.
"Uhhhhh, it's probably in the kitchen," he spotted a jug on the counter supposedly filled with water. Was that it? Skimming through the kitchen cabinets, he found a glass cup and poured the water in a rushed manner.
When he arrived at your room, you were still in the same position as before.
'Oh my gosh what if Y/N is dying?' Leon teared up.
"Y/N, please don't die... I'm nothing without you." He whimpered a little. You managed to chuckle a bit, but not before pain had reached your abdomen.
"This is so embarrassing... I'm actually on my period." Leon blinked in confusion. Wait, he swore he heard that word before. Oh right, it must be the monthly bleeding thing. He's seen his mom go through it multiple times. Medicine and chocolate was all they needed right? But he didn't have them at hand...
'As her future lover, you need to be ready for all types of situations from now on.' Leon took a deep breath and pondered on what to do next. He tucked you into your blanket tightly, wrapping you like a burrito.
"Is that better?" He said softly. You nodded, closing your eyes. He saw your chest go up and down indicating that you are breathing. Okay, great, the love of his life was still alive.
"I-I'm gonna go get some things that will make you feel better, okay?" You nodded again, not really listening to what he said.
"Where's your key?" Leon asked.
"Under... the rug..." You murmured.
"Thank you." Leon stroked your hair lovingly. You had just given him an important piece of information in case of future situations. Now where did you usually get chocolate and medicine?
"Ah! There's a convenience store nearby I passed when coming to Y/N's house!" Leon remembered. He head downstairs and opened the door, checking if the key was actually under the rug - and there was.
"To the convenience store..." It was a short walk, taking less than five minutes to get there. When he entered, the doors slid open, startling him a bit. Leon head to the confectionery section grabbed a few of your favourite types of sweets and then to the medicine section.
For periods... He skimmed through the list of medicine until he found the right one. When he did, there were a variety to choose from. He wanted the best of the best for his darling.
"U-uh, which one do I get...?" Leon stressed out, looking left and right at the wide variety of options displayed in front of him.
"Are you getting medicine for your girlfriend, dearie?" An old woman looked at him with kind eyes. Her skin was extremely wrinkled but it was obvious she smiled a lot through it all. Her hair was all white and curly like a typical grandma, wearing a fake pearl necklace and squared glasses. Her two hands gripped a cane. It reminded him of his own, who was no longer in this world anymore.
"Uhm, yes..." Leon enjoyed the feeling of calling you his girlfriend. The old woman beamed and pointed at a pink box with a half red and half white pill on the cover.
"This one should work fine. It's been a long time since I've had my fair share but trust me, this one works like a charm. A bit old fashioned, but sometimes nothing works better than a good old remedy." Leon picked up the pink box, skimming the contents. It looked safe.
"Thank you, Mrs...?"
"Oh no, dearie, just call me Agatha. What's your name, son?"
"Leon."
"Well, love, did you get the pads yet?" Agatha glanced at his basket with her thick glasses. It seems like Agatha had an endless amount of nicknames just for Leon.
"Pads? What are those?" His mom never asked for pads. Right...?
