《Romeo》Chapter 31

My family and I were at Sienna's. Her father invited us for dinner to celebrate the new project with our company.
There was no news from Samantha yet, excluding her calls while I declined them every time. However, I was on a knife-edge. Samantha could show up any time and ruin everything. Every time the door buzzed or my parents' phones rang, my heart started pounding like crazy in panic.
As much as I thought how I could prove that she lied, I hadn't found anything. Fortunately, Sienna was understanding and tried to support me as much as possible. At least, she believed me. However, I didn't think it would be the same with my father nor Aspen. It gave me nightmares.
My parents noticed that there was something wrong with me, but I told them that I felt tired because of the practice before the upcoming match. However, they kept asking if I was under the weather. My mother hadn't stopped forcing me to eat fruits or drink juices to get better. Even Aspen noticed I didn't feel good, because he hadn't insulted me since I arrived.
Suddenly, Sienna held my hand under the table, giving me a sympathetic look, and squeezed it slightly, interrupting my thoughts. I gave her a lazy smile and sighed.
After dinner, our parents were chatting while drinking coffee, sitting around the table. Meanwhile, Liam, Charlotte and Sienna were talking, sitting on the couches while Troy went upstairs to talk on the phone with his girlfriend. I was listening to them absently. I wasn't in the mood to chat.
Suddenly, Troy stormed in, looking furious. He clenched his fist, gritting his teeth, and glared at me angrily.
"You bastard!" He snapped, shooting daggers at me.
"Troy Anderson! Watch your language!" His mother intervened as all of us stood up. "What is going on?"
He looked at me, frustrated and replied mockingly. "My best friend is going to be a father."
I gulped in fear as I was sure that my face turned white as a shit.
Everyone gasped in shock, excluding Sienna. She gave me a nervous look. I pursed my lips together, running my trembling hand through my hair.
Troy approached me in quick steps and threw a stick at me.
"How dare you knock up my sister!" He snarled, full of anger in his voice.
My eyes widened in shock. "What?" I mumbled, confused and looked at Sienna.

"I will kill you!" Troy threatened me, and in a flash, he punched me in the face.
"Troy!" His mother, Serena exclaimed in panic and rushed towards us. She stood between us, keeping Troy away from me while I was wiping the blood off my lips. Then I picked up the stick and looked at it. There were two lines on it. My mind went blank as soon as I saw the lines.
My mother gasped, covering her mouth with her hand as she saw the lines on the stick. My father breathed deeply without saying anything while standing beside my mother and me.
"Troy, stop! If there is someone who is going to kill him, it will be me." Aspen intervened, giving me an intimidating glare.
"Guys, calm down!" Serena exclaimed in a bossy tone, putting her hands on her hips.
"I told you to stay away from her, but instead of staying away, you got her pregnant." Troy stated angrily.
I ignored the others and turned my gaze to Sienna who was standing frozen. "Is it true? Are you pregnant?" I mumbled nervously.
"Yes, dumbass! Don't you see the lines. I found it in her drawer while searching for a pen." Troy intervened, giving me a dirty look.
"Are you pregnant?" I asked Sienna again, ignoring Troy.
Suddenly, Sienna ran towards the garden, her cheeks flushed. Without waiting for a second, I rushed after her, calling Sienna. I grabbed her wrist, stopping her in the garden. Meanwhile, the others were watching us through the window after Serena stopped her husband and sons from following us.
"Why didn't you tell me? Because how did I react to Samantha?" I asked softly, cupping her chin, lifting her face up. "I am sorry, Sienna. If I made you feel this way, but it is different; she is a liar, and she doesn't love me. She just wants me for attention and popularity." I sighed, pausing. "If you told me about your pregnancy, I wouldn't treat you like that." I added honestly as I cupped her cheek, looking into her eyes. "I am sorry for making you think like this, my love." I leaned my forehead against her forehead.
"So if I told you I was pregnant, you would like to keep it..." She said questioningly.
"If you also want to." I confessed honestly. "I will be beside you at your every decision. I will be honest it is early; I think you agree with me too, and it makes me scared slightly. However, if our baby didn't want to wait for a few years before coming, I would still be happy. And if you decide to keep it, you can count on me that I will do everything to take care of you and our little one. Of course, if your father lets me live." I grinned and tapped her nose playfully.

She smiled and placed a tender kiss on my lips. "You will live because it isn't my pregnancy test." I raised my eyebrow, confused. "It is... Lucia's test." She added and bit her lower lip.
"Oh..." I mumbled and rubbed the back of my neck as I felt suddenly embarrassed. "Then why didn't you tell it when Troy said that you were pregnant?"
She sighed, ruffling her hair. "I don't know. I was shocked when Troy said you were going to be a father. I thought he found out about Samantha. Then, when he said it was me, I didn't know what to do; my mind went blank."
I nodded, caressing her cheek. "Then let's inform them. It seems I am not dying today." I added sarcastically and shook my head.
After walking into the mansion, Sienna told everyone the truth. Firstly, her father and Troy didn't believe her, but when Serena told them that she heard about Lucia's pregnancy from Adam's mother, they were convinced.
"You saved your ass, dude." Liam commented, smirking after everyone relaxed.
I forced a smile, rubbing the back of my neck uncomfortably, and looked at Sienna. She pursed her lips together as she thought the same thing as me.
I have to do something about Samantha's lie.
"Liam!" Serena warned him, shaking her head in disapproval. "Watch your language! What got into my children today?!" She sighed.
After everything had cleared up, my father suggested that we left because everyone needed to rest.

I was picking at my food, lost in my thoughts while having breakfast with my family. I didn't have an appetite. Yesterday, I called Samantha, telling her I wanted a DNA test, but she refused, getting angry. Her behavior made me sure that I was right; she wasn't pregnant, or if she was pregnant, the baby wasn't mine.
I heaved a sigh and ran my hand through my hair.
"Romeo, are you fine?" My mother asked, concerned.
"Yeah.." I mumbled, forcing a slight smile.
"I can feel it; something is bothering you. What happened?" She insisted, giving me a worried look. Meanwhile, my father and Charlotte were looking at me, waiting for my answer, full of concern in their eyes.
"I am fine, Mom. Don't worry." I reassured her.
"Romeo..." When my father wanted to say something, the doorbell rang.
I gulped nervously, tightening my grip around the fork as soon as I saw Samantha. She gave me a cocky smirk and greeted us. I was sitting on my chair without managing to stand up or move.
"Samantha... what are you doing here?" My mother asked, confused. She knew that Samantha and I weren't on good terms, especially after Sienna and I got in a relationship.
"Didn't you tell them, Romeo?" Samantha asked me softly, flashing a sly smile.
I gritted my teeth, giving her a warning look, and stood up abruptly.
"Come with me!" I demanded as I approached Samantha and grabbed her arm.
"No, I have to talk to your parents. They have the right to know as well." She stated firmly and pulled her arm away.
"Samantha!" I hissed between my gritted teeth.
"What is going on here, Romeo?" My father asked impatiently.
"She doesn't apparently understand that my brother loves Sienna, not her." Charlotte commented coldly as she stood up.
"Charlotte, why do you hate me?" Samantha pretended to be offended.
"Because you are a bitch. And you are glued to my brother like a leech, even when you know he doesn't want you." Charlotte stated confidently, holding her arms over her chest.
"Charlotte!" My father intervened and sighed, bored. "What do you want to talk to us, Samantha?" My father asked firmly, placing his hand into his pocket as my parents stood up and approached us.
"I..."
"Samantha!" I warned her, shaking my head.
She gave me a devilish smirk and turned her gaze from me to my parents. "I am pregnant. I am carrying Romeo's baby." She said, giving them a smile, and rested her hand on her stomach.

The Ruined Monks of Rothfield Monastery
Erin is the youngest member of the dark monks; a supernatural brotherhood whose ultimate mission is to improve the dire circumstances of poor, war-torn villages using powers unique to each member. Or so he was led to believe. Erin, like his brothers, does not age, and that is, unfortunately, the only trait he shares with them. He cannot charm or compel like Woodrow, he cannot cast illusions like Knox, he was not swift like Swithin, not powerful like Blake. He was barely an assistant to his dear brother Wilbur, with his herbology and alchemy. He was told to lie low and make himself scarce. That is what he did. The dark monks temporarily reside in abandoned monasteries scattered around the country, feeding the poor and healing the sick, nurturing the monastic lands until it was fertile enough to raise crops and rear animals. As the years passed, they would leave these reformed, repopulated, self-sustaining monasteries and venture froth to help the next settlement. Yet, after years of toiling and quiet servitude, Erin notices that people and the country itself are declining. The villagers look gaunt, the once-lush soil now barren and cracked. He begins to feel disheartened, thinking that their mission is proving futile. Still, their leader Blake is steadfast and charges onward, and lately has his eyes set on a certain monastery in a thick, thorned forest that seems to diminish, even nullify their powers. A thick forest that Erin somehow has a connection to. A thorned glade where an ethereal voice calls his name with one simple request along with a promise:Heal the land, child. Heal the land and I promise to give you sanctuary so long as you stay. I promise to nurture you as you nurture me. As Erin cultivates the land, the land, in turn, gifts all its caretakers with new, enhanced skillsets on top of their unique powers -- skills of protection, healing, and magic. Magic. Erin had long wished to see the world fill with it again. The people, regardless of common or noble blood, still believe that magic will enter this world again. Magic to bless the king like it did the Saints. Magic to dispel the miasma befouling the world. Magic to bring back the fae folk and their many forms. It is up to Erin to forge the many paths leading to a bright future; to build a prosperous paradise that welcomes all races and bloodlines, by mastering the rewards gained through agriculture, horticulture, and animal husbandry, smithing, crafting, and fishing. Erin may also find a lifelong friendship and romance with his neighbor, Claude, if he decides to pursue him, and may even join him in the military campaign outside the monastery. The darkness still lurks outside, after all, and the mastery of his skills, along with a few good friends, may finally be enough to turn the tide in their favor. Most of all, Erin wants to keep the vow he set for himself: to protect everyone and everything he loves until his dying breath.
