《F I N》33. VESPER

'That bastard dared to hurt her, my little sister,' Vesper thought angrily. He punched the wall, making his knuckles bleed.
Hayes placed his hand on Vesper's shoulder. They shared a look. He's silently saying to save the anger for when he has to deal with Arturo.
Arturo was never a good father. He neglected his sons but acted like he loved them in front of other people. He turned them into soldiers, killers and made them follow orders and never question him.
They complied with whatever demands he had, whatever he said and let him do as he pleased, but the second he laid a hand on their sister, they wanted his blood.
No longer were they his soldiers. Their only purpose at that second was to protect Josephine.
They, especially Vesper felt proud when she told him no. She, besides their superior, was the only person who ever refused him. Even they couldn't, well, before she came.
Josephine has made their lives so much more lively. Whether she believed it or not, Theodore wasn't always smiley and happy. Before she came back into their lives, Theo seemed to have a dark cloud over his head.
He has been trying to get rid of it, just for her.
Not only him, but Thorne, Harrison and Hayes too.
Thorne tries to control his anger issues but it doesn't always work. Josephine unknowingly helped him with that.
Harrison stopped playing music years ago. She got him to start back. He even played for her and let her use his instruments when he never let anyone enter his music room.
Hayes, though he barely talked to her, was silently observing her, trying to learn her likes and dislikes.
He learned that she loved reading but for some reason barely does it. He loved reading too and was waiting for the right time to talk to her.

She changed them for the better and they loved her for it and more.
Vesper opened the door to the basement, stalking in.
Arturo was chained to the wall by his hands. His toe barely touching the ground.
He whimpered pathetically when Hayes struck him with a hard blow to his stomach. Thorne chuckled darkly.
Vesper was glad Josephine wasn't there to see them like this. He didn't want her to fear them.
He smirked as he looked at the trembling man in front of him.
"I thought that you were untouchable?" Vesper said, amusingly.
"Who did you promise Josephine to?" His tone changed, disgust prominent in his voice.
Arturo suddenly laughed humorlessly. "The Bratva," He said smugly.
The brothers frowned. The Bratva is the Russian Mafia. They were allies with them, however, they can be very ruthless.
The Russians were second to the Italian Mafia and even though Vesper is the Second-in-Command of the Italians, he couldn't go back on a deal without a war, even if he wasn't the one who made it in the first place.
Arturo knew what he was doing when he went to the Russians, they made sure that they got whatever was promised to them. They would kill if they had to.
The only person who could refuse them was the Don of the Vino Italian Mafia.
Donatello Da' Vino. The most heartless and ruthless man on the earth. Kills without a care for any repercussions. The Russian feared him more than their own Don.
Vesper, as well as his brothers, would beg on their knees if they had to, for him to speak to the Russian Mafia. To go back on the deal. Vesper would give up his father if he had to.
None of them wanted their sister to marry a man she doesn't know or love, he could be abusive or something worse. They would never allow that.

Thorne picked up a knife from the table that was against the wall, filled with torture devices and weapons.
In a swift move, Thorne slashed his father's stomach. It wasn't a large enough wound so he wouldn't bleed out. However, he would be in a lot of pain.
Harrison kicked Arturo's foot, hard. He smirked darkly when he heard a crack. Then, Hayes punched his jaw and took the knife from Thorne and cut his cheek as payback for making Josephine bleed. That won't be all, though. He is in a hell of a lot more suffering for what he did to their sister, as well as, what he did to them as children. Hell, even as adults.
Hours passed and Vesper, Hayes, Thorne and Harrison were still in the basement. They were just finished torturing Arturo, for now at least. They would continue tomorrow. They still needed him alive, after all.
Dread crept up on Vesper. Now he needed to speak to his Don.
'I hope he is in a good and merciful mood,' He thought as he picked up his phone, ready to call Donatello Da' Vino.
He took a deep breath and pressed call.

She likes the idea of waking up in the middle of her favourite book with the handsome, brooding Mr Thornton glaring at people in his mill yard, but she doesn't worry about the foul air of dirty, smoky Milton, because it's not real, and it was written over 160 years ago.But then she takes a trip to Oxford, and gets waylaid along the way, finding herself greeted at a smoky train station, by a man called Mr Hale, who claims to be her godfather. When Isabel meets Margaret and first sees Mr Thornton, she's determined to help the course of love run a little more smoothly for the two stubborn lovers. But Gaskell hadn't accounted for a second young lady in the Crampton house, and whilst Isabel tries to adapt to a life where women have no independence or equality, Milton must adapt to her. The question is, will Mr Thornton adapt to her, or Margaret, first?
