The teacup shattered, frightening Ji Mengran into taking a step back. The hot tea splattered onto her slippers, while the glass fragments scattered across the floor.
Ji Mengran raised her eyes in disbelief. “You’ll only listen to Ji Nuan’s words. You won’t even listen to my explanation?”
“Is there a need for an explanation?” Ji Hongwen’s expression was frigid. “You are my daughter. How can I not know your character? Ji Mengran looked as though she had heard a joke. “You knew how I felt, yet you still gave all the things I liked to Ji Nuan! How could you be so biased?”
Ji Hongwen’s expression instantly revealed his thunderous rage. “Since you were young, no matter if it’s the things you like or the things Ji Nuan likes, the moment you open your mouth, she would unconditionally give them all to you! Both of you have been spoiled by me. When she’s outside, she’s often criticized for being arrogant and proud, but she has always been especially indulgent toward you alone! She gave you everything that you wanted! What more do you want? Have you become used to snatching things from Ji Nuan’s hands? Now that she refuses to hand you her legal husband, are you going to go against her?!”
As he spoke, Ji Hongwen angrily pointed at Ji Mengran who had turned pale. “You still have the nerve to stand here and argue with me about this! You unfilial daughter, kneel down!”
“Me? Kneel down?” Ji Mengran glared at him with red eyes.
“Kneel down!”
Ji Hongwen’s expression revealed his unrelenting determination and rage. After seeing the nasty relationship between Ji Mengran and Ji Nuan today, even his heart was aching from the anger.
“Old Ji, cool down a little. Mengran is still a child. Why are you telling her this? Everyone has the right to like someone; she hasn’t committed any outrageous acts. It’s normal for a young girl to want to fight for the boy she likes. She hasn’t even done much, has she?” Shen Heru saw that Ji Hongwen was truly angered and rushed to pat his chest comfortingly.
Ji Hongwen expression was ugly as he paid no mind to Shen Heru. He continued looking at Ji Mengran who was gritting her teeth and refusing to kneel. “I asked you to kneel! Are you deaf? Can’t you hear me?”
“I won’t kneel! Why should I kneel!” Ji Mengran yelled in anger, turning to run up the stairs.
Seeing that Ji Hongwen was about to haul the person back with an icy expression, Shen Heru rushed to tug him back. “Don’t be so angry. Ji Nuan is still here. This house is usually so peaceful, but the moment she returns, there’s so much trouble. Don’t just blame Mengran alone…”
“Shut your mouth!” Ji Hongwen glared at her. “What were you saying earlier? Ji Nuan is my daughter, why can’t she return to this home?”
Shen Heru was slightly upset with the way he took his anger out on her. Her hands instantly left his elbow as she said with a poor complexion, “I only spoke up for Mengran because my heart was aching from the way you keep criticizing her. But aside from Ji Nuan, this precious daughter of yours, no one else is allowed to speak, is it?”

Ji Hongwen’s brows were cold. He clearly did not intend to soften his attitude toward her.
Shen Heru tolerated her anger and did not speak. She raised her eyes toward Ji Nuan and was further incensed by the way she was coldly watching the conflict play out.
This little wench. Previously, whenever she came home, she would at least restrain a little. But now, she has completely stopped holding back. The moment she is back, she starts a battle. No festivities are going on right now, but she suddenly came back home just to start a conflict. What on earth are her intentions?
Stumbling noises came from upstairs. Ji Mengran rushed down the stairs with a suitcase in her hand.
Seeing this, Ji Nuan coldly raised her brows and did not speak.
Ji Hongwen coldly narrowed his eyes, angrily saying, “Are you leaving? Fine. If you take your luggage and step out of this home today, don’t even think about coming back! Scram! Our Ji family doesn’t have a daughter like you!”
Ji Mengran’s footsteps abruptly froze, but she concealed it as she quickly brought her luggage down the stairs. She glared at Ji Nuan, opened the doors, and walked out.
“Aiya, this child. Why is she leaving.” Shen Heru nagged. She then turned to Ji Nuan and whispered in reproach, “How can there be such a sister? Even if Mengran is wrong in some ways, she hasn’t done anything to harm anyone. She’s so unforgiving to her own sister. Must she force her to leave before she lets it go? Can you not be satisfied until you see Mengran break off all ties with us? Will you only be happy when this family is bankrupt and the people are dead?”
“Will you die if you say less?” Ji Hongwen turned to look at her in anger.
Shen Heru was just about to reply when she heard Ji Nuan speak up indifferently, “How can this family go bankrupt and its people die with my return? On the contrary… Auntie Shen, if you continue staying in the Ji family, I can’t say for sure how things will end up.”
Shen Heru knitted her brows as she turned harshly toward Ji Nuan. “Nuan Nuan, what do you mean by that?”
Ji Nuan revealed an extremely mild smile. Hearing a car pass by outside, she turned to head out and did not offer her any explanations.
Ji Mengran went into the Ji family’s garage and got into one of their cars. However, the moment she drove out, she saw Ji Nuan standing by the front yard. If her father was not around, Ji Mengran really wished she could step on the gas and kill her.
No! She had to tolerate it! The things she wanted would never easily bow down and surrender to her, but she could not let Ji Nuan lead her around by the nose!
There had to be a way to restrain her!
Ji Mengran pressed on the car horns with force, rolling down the windows to shout, “If you don’t want to die, scram!”
Ji Nuan appeared to be able to read her mind. She stood unmoving in her position, watching her coldly and indifferently.
Ji Mengran got off the car in a fit of anger. She slammed the car door and charged toward her. “Do you really think that with Dad supporting you, you can be as arrogant as you wish? Ji Nuan, let me tell you…”
“Where are you going?” Ji Nuan appeared not to have heard her. She only smiled imperceptibly, watching Ji Mengran’s expression of rage.

Ji Nuan’s attitude appeared to drive Ji Mengran even crazier. She gritted her teeth to glare at her. “The Ji family doesn’t have space for me, but there are other places that do!”
Ji Nuan smiled. She has always been taller than Ji Mengran. She leaned her body down slightly, and Ji Mengran, who instantly felt a wave of threat, quickly took a step back.
Ji Nuan leaned by her ear, quietly and unhurriedly whispering, “Are you going to Hai City’s An Hei Bar to look for that bunch of loser friends of yours? Are you going to ask them to find ways to bring me into that place, for them to get me drunk and have me take drugs, for them to help you ruin me, en?”

Ji Mengran’s heart instantly fell. She took another step backward, leaning against the car as her legs became weak. Her expression was pale as she stared in disbelief and guilt at Ji Nuan, who was smiling artificially.
How did she find out?
How did she know about those friends of hers?
How did she even know of the things she had planned?
Was Ji Nuan possessed by some sort of demon? She even had the ability to predict the future?
No!
There was no way!
There had to be a problem somewhere!
Ji Nuan must have investigated her and found out about those friends of hers. These must be the conjectures she arrived at after looking at those clues.
It must be; it had to be!
However, even as she thought this way, Ji Mengran still looked at Ji Nuan in fear. She could not comprehend how she had become so difficult to grasp…
Ji Mengran’s entire body tightened with tension. Ji Nuan only smiled imperceptibly at her; she did not make any further movement or expression.
Ji Nuan reached out, patting her shoulder. “Mengran, ah, as a person, it’s better to be quiet and not to scheme so much. When you wish to ruin someone, you must take care not to ruin yourself…”
Ji Mengran remained leaning by the car. Her expression was stiff as a rock as she laid limply against the car. She raised an arm to push Ji Nuan’s hand away, avoiding her touch.
Ji Mengran was not afraid of her words. However, earlier on, she had seen something ambiguous in Ji Nuan’s eyes, as though there were years of hatred and unspoken words hidden in there. She could not understand it and only knew that it terrified her.
For some reason, the frigid cold emotion in Ji Nuan’s gaze seeped into Ji Mengran’s bones, filling her with a fear that was indescribable…
Everything had already developed to this stage; Ji Nuan no longer planned on keeping Ji Mengran in too much suspense.
“Know your limits.” Ji Nuan’s gaze flitted past her face, before her lips curved into a smile that Ji Mengran wanted to crush. She then confidently and calmly turned to head back in.
Ji Mengran stood by the car door in a daze. When she heard the house door opening and closing, she checked that Ji Nuan had really entered before releasing a slow breath.
She sniffled, raising her newly bought phone to open some of the videos she had taken of Ji Nuan in the past. In those videos, Ji Nuan always behaved like a peacock; she was condescending and had many visible flaws. Then, it was easy to tug on her pigtails. These videos were what she had initially planned on showing to Mo Jingshen, for him to understand how pampered Ji Nuan really was.
After looking through those videos once, Ji Mengran’s palms filled with sweat.
Within a night, Ji Nuan had transformed into someone that was impossible to control. Although she appeared innocent, she was frighteningly two-faced. She was even able to guess everything she had done so accurately, thoroughly seeing through her thoughts.
She left her with no opportunity to retaliate; it was as though Ji Nuan had been leading her by the nose the whole time.
Even if people could change, it was impossible for someone to become so different. Within a night, Ji Nuan understood all of her goals and could even make accurate guesses about her plans. This rendered all of her original schemes useless.
Was Ji Nuan hiding some sort of secret?
She had to be.
It shouldn’t be like this…
Everything was too illogical! Everything had fallen into Ji Nuan’s control! It was too illogical!

After returning, Ji Nuan saw that Shen Heru had already put on an act to return the villa to its peace.
“Mengran really left?” Seeing that Ji Nuan had returned alone, Shen Heru furrowed her brows and asked.
Ji Nuan calmly glanced at her. “Auntie Shen, I truly don’t understand you. Back then, for the sake of being able to stay in the Ji family, you cut off all ties with your own son without any hesitation. You were so cruel, yet right now, you are so concerned about a stepdaughter.”
“Nuan Nuan, what are you talking about. Although my tone was slightly harsh earlier, isn’t it because I hope that the two of you will be able to reconcile?” Shen Heru smiled as she pushed her hair behind her ear, taking on a motherly stance. “Don’t mention the things in the past. For so many years, the ones by my side have been you and Mengran. I know very well who is close and who is not.”
Ji Nuan smiled, but her smile did not reach her eyes. She shifted her gaze toward Ji Hongwen, who was still visibly upset. “Dad, let’s talk?”
From the moment Ji Nuan stepped into the house, Ji Hongwen had known that this child had returned because she had something to tell him. He said, “Go to the study to wait for me.”
“This child, why are you being so mysterious. I’ve already entered the Ji family for so many years; I’m not an outsider. Why can’t you speak in front of me?” No matter how Shen Heru tried to suppress it, her tone was still slightly strange.
Ji Nuan, who was about to head upstairs, paused by Shen Heru’s side almost carelessly, speaking so that only she could hear, “Auntie Shen, I haven’t settled Sheng Yihan’s debt from that year with you. Don’t think you’ll be able to protect him just because you severed ties with him back then. After hiding in ambush in the Ji family for so many years, you must be very tired, aren’t you?”

Not long after, Ji Hongwen entered the study. “You came in such a rush, what do you need to tell me?”
“Dad, I know that Auntie Shen has been married to you for many years. Although I used to be immature and was never especially pleasant to her, I’ve never targeted her. You should be well aware of this as well.” Ji Nuan unhurriedly began.
Ji Hongwen nodded. “En.”
“A while ago, I took some of the so-called health supplements she bought you for a professional drug analysis.” While speaking, Ji Nuan took out a folded sheet of paper from her bag, placing it on his desk. “This is the result. Take a look at it.”
Ji Hongwen approached the desk, putting on his glasses before scanning the drug analysis report.
After looking through it, Ji Hongwen did not become enraged as Ji Nuan had expected. He stood by the desk and was silent for a moment before speaking, “Don’t raise your voice about this issue first. You are my daughter. I have full faith in your words, but this thing cannot be concluded so easily. Let me confirm it first.”
Ji Nuan was just about to speak up when suddenly, she paused to look at the door behind her.
There was a figure standing carefully outside the door. It remained quietly there as though it was afraid of being seen. Only the slightest bit of its silhouette was noticeable, and if Ji Nuan was not standing far away from the door or had keen senses, she would not have noticed it.
She looked at the door and turned to meet Ji Hongwen’s eyes. She unhurriedly curved her lips.
Ji Hongwen also noticed the silhouette because of Ji Nuan’s gaze. His expression instantly became heavy.
