Chapter 24:

Sophia's POV:

Emily and Jayden have gone to lunch while I stay outside the classrooms and sit on one of the seats. I get out my History book and study for that test I have. I'm not going to get another bad grade ever again! I keep my head down and the book in my face. I hear a few footsteps come up to me but I can't waste time by looking up.

"Soph," Jake says. Dammit, now I have to look up. I sigh in annoyance and look up at him.

"Yes, Jake?" He sits down beside me and I put my book down. He puts his arm around my side and kisses my cheek.

"You feeling okay?" he asks with concern.

"Yeah, I just got a C+ in Science so I have to learn for History, I don't want another bad grade."

"A C+ isn't bad, Soph. I get Fs, that's even worse."

"Well maybe if you tried you'd get better than Fs, Jakey," I point out.

"I know, but I don't care about school unlike you. You're smart, I'm stupid."

"You are smart, Jake, you just don't bother or try. If you actually studied you'd get much better results!"

"I know, I'll try from now on." I hope he does, I know he is really smart and can get much better results than Fs.

"I don't mean to give out, Jake, I love you just the way you are, you don't have to change just for me."

"I'm changing for you, us and our babies. I promise to do my best from now on instead of being a failure." He looks down at the ground with shame.

"Jake, don't ever think that, you're not a failure, you're perfect just the way you are and I wouldn't change you for the world," I admit truthfully. I take his hand in mine, he smiles and brings my hand to his lips and kisses it.

"You're my world, Sophia," he beams. My name rolls off his tongue, I love when he says it! "You haven't felt any pains from the fall have you, I think maybe we should just check you out."

"No, Jake, I haven't got any pains or anything. They're fine and I'm fine. No need to be worried," I reassure him.

"I can't help being worried, I'm in love with you." I smile happily at him. My baby Daddy loves me and I love him and our twins and we're going to be a wonderful, happy family forever, hopefully.

"Oh, Jake, I forgot you were called to the office, is everything all right, did I get you in trouble?" I ask, fearing the worse.

"Everything's okay, we both got a detention, nothing serious and how is it your fault, Soph? It's mine, I couldn't stop myself, what he said really annoyed me and it wasn't fair on you. I shouldn't have taken it that far."

"Yeah but he shouldn't have fought back either. You're my hero, Jakey." He smirks and gets cocky when I say that.

"Am I now? Hmm does your hero get a kiss for his bravery?" I laugh and give him a long kiss. He bites my lip for entrance and I give it to him. Our tongues mingle and he moves me closer to his body. When we pull back he takes my History book. "Want me to test you?"

"Would you?"

"Of course I would." I smile and thank him. He asks me a few questions then I ask him a few too since he's in my History class and we both have the same test tomorrow. He got the first few right but then he started to stutter.

"Oh I'm helpless, what am I going to do, it's tomorrow!" he groans softly.

"You're going to do fine, you got like 5 right. Have some hope, we have a whole twenty-four hours left and I'm going to spend as much time as it takes helping you."

"You'd do that for me?" I nod while smiling and kiss his cheek.

"How about anytime you get a right answer you get a kiss?"

"Oh yes!" he practically shouts.

"Okay then," I laugh. I ask him another few and he gets them all right which made him get eleven kisses. "Well done, Jakey, see I told you could do it!"

"It's all going to go out of my head tomorrow and I won't remember."

"Yes you will, we sit beside each other, just imagine you're saying it to me when you're writing the answer down." He nods, he's going to do great, I know he will. We spend the rest of lunch testing each other on the chapter. I think we're both ready, Jake definitely was. The bell rings and I sigh, class now, yay! Note my sarcastic tone. Jake stands up and helps me to my feet. "Thanks."

"You're getting so big, you can't even get up," he teases.

"Don't remind me," I sigh again. He rubs his hand over my bump and smiles wider when he feels a kick. "I love you, I'll see you later."

"Bye, baby, I love you all too." He kisses me multiple times then goes over to his locker. I had Home Ec. now with Emily and Jayden. I go into the class and sit beside Jay.

"Hey, you guys, how was lunch?" I ask.

"Great, Taylor made this really funny joke that made Danny spit his drink all over the table," Emily says, smiling at the image in her head. I let out a small laugh. "Too bad you missed it, it was hilarious."

"Guess what else happened?" Jayden asks. I look at him with wonder and curiosity. "Emily and Charlie sat beside each other today and held hands, it was adorable!" I gasp and look over at Emily.

"No we didn't!" Emily denies as she blushes.

"Yeah you did, I saw both of your hands under the table," he states. Emily blushes more and I squeal excitedly.

"Are you two a couple now?" I inquire.

"Um... well he asked me if I wanted to go out with him during the weekend so I said yes," she says with a sheepish grin.

"THAT'S GREAT!" I yelp excitedly.

"It doesn't mean we're a couple though," she discloses.

"Not yet," I wink. "Wait until the weekend, girl, and then it'll be official." Jayden laughs and Emily grins. Finally she gets to go out with someone she has a crush on, she's had many crushes but she's never had the nerve to ask them out. Now he's asked her out and they're having their first date! Emily gets a text on her phone and she turns around to text them back, I assume it must be Charlie since she started giggling when reading it. I felt another kick and place both my hands on my baby bump.

"Can I feel?" Jayden asks.

"Of course you can, Jay," I approve. I take his nearest hand and put it on where the kick was. He grins down at it and rubs over the spot.

"It feels magical," he notes.

"Yeah but sometimes they don't stop and I get a backache," I mutter.

"Pregnancy's not easy," he nods.

"No not at all but it's all worth it."

"You must be excited to see your two little bundles of joy in less than four months then!"

"Yeah, very! But also scared, I don't know what's going to happen, if it's going to be good or bad or if Jake will still be here when they're born."

"Don't think about it much, you'll end up worrying and you shouldn't be. Whatever happens good or bad you'll always have us here for you and Jake's not going anywhere. He's permanent, he's made that pretty clear from what I can see," he assures.

"Yeah, you're right. Thank you, Jayden."

"Aren't I always?" he winks which makes me chuckle "And no problem, just tell me if you have any worries and we'll talk about them, okay?" I nod while giving him a smile and then look over at Emily who was watching us oddly. "What's wrong, Ems?"

"I've only noticed it now but you two would have made a wonderful couple, I'm not saying you and Jake aren't wonderful because you are, I'm just saying this would have worked out too," she admits randomly. Jay and me? I've never liked him that way before. Yeah I adore him, love him and think he's cute and wonderful but only as a best friend way. He's like a brother to me not that way like a boyfriend.

But I think if we ever did go out it would work out because we get on great with each other and know everything about the other but it's too late to know now, the times gone past. I'd rather him as my brother, that way he'll always be here and I'll know we'll stay friends forever. I look at Jayden and he lowers his gaze to the table. Oh no, Emily has made him uncomfortable and embarrassed!

"Now look, you've freaked out Jayden, Ems," I pout.

"Sorry," she says sheepishly.

"No I'm not freaked out, I-I-it doesn't matter," he stutters. What was he thinking then?

Jayden's POV:

After Home Ec. I go up to Emily after saying goodbye to Sophia.

"Why did you have to say that to Soph and us being together?" I question.

"Sorry, Jay, I was just pointing it out, you would have made a cute couple, you guys know everything about each other and have the same interests," she informs.

"Now Soph will feel awkward around me, what if she spends less time with me?"

"Why would she do that, I haven't made anything awkward! She has a boyfriend, it's not like she's in love with you or anything!" She wasn't in love with me but I am in love with her. How could I not?! We've been best friends for years and we've bonded more than a guy can with a girl. I've always wanted to take it to the next level with her but I always got nervous to ask her in case she said no. And what if we broke up, I didn't want to ruin our friendship if that happened.

So I said nothing and just got on as if I didn't feel about her that way. But it's hard to hide your feelings when you see her every day. It pains me to see her with another guy but I know Jake will take care of her and treat her the way she deserves. I don't deserve Sophia, she would never look at a guy like me. And her being pregnant with another guy's kids, now I've definitely lost the chance to be with her.

But life goes on, she'll always be my best friend and I don't mind as long as she's in my life. I don't mind if I never have her as my girl just as long as I have her in my life, be it as a best friend or big brother I don't care, I just need her. This is why I got all stuttery around them earlier and looked away before class started. I really wish I told her all those years ago but I let it stay in the friend zone, I'm so stupid, I could have maybe had the most beautiful, amazing and perfect girl right now.

"Jay, you don't, do you?" she asks, snapping me from my love thoughts of Sophia, beautiful Sophia. Anytime she smiles my heart skips a beat. Even her name brings tingles over my body like when we touch but I know Sophia didn't feel the sensational tingles, it was just me because she's in love with Jake. Why does the popular, hot guy always have to get the girl?

"I don't what?" I ask. She's after figuring it out now, hasn't she?

"Do you love Sophia?" I bite my lip, if I tell her then she'll tell Soph but Soph can't know about my feelings! It will ruin things between us and she'll get all awkward around me. But I also have to tell someone because I need someone to talk about it with, I can trust Emily to keep it a secret if I ask her to since she's my other best friend.

"A lot, so much more than a best friend."

"For how long?"

"About 4 years, before that it was just as best friends."

"Oh my gosh, Jay, why didn't you tell me! Or Soph!" she exclaims.

"I didn't want to be rejected so I didn't say anything to anyone."

"Oh no, you must feel heartbroken, I'm so sorry, Jayden," she frowns, realising how hard it must have been for me to see them together. She hugs me tight and I gives me a sympathetic smile while I smile weakly.

"It doesn't matter, I only care to see her happy and she is. She's more happy than I could have ever made her."

"Don't say that."

"It's the truth, Ems."

"No it's not, don't think like that! She would have been really happy with you if you two went out! What are you going to do?"

"Nothing, just stay as her best friend, I've been fine with her, Jake and the babies for five months now, I've gotten over it. And anyways I didn't want to risk what we have, what if we broke up? I couldn't bear to lose her, it's better this way." She gives me a sympathetic smile and then frowns again.

"Well I'm not that surprised. Girls and boys can never stay friends like you two are without one of the two developing feelings."

"I know," I sigh. "I should go to class, please keep this just between us." She nods and gives me one more hug before I go off to English.

Jake's POV:

After school I drive Sophia to her house, she invites me in so I accept. I lock the car and we go inside. Her father was in the lounge chatting on the phone and Zach, Isabella and James were in the TV room watching TV together.

"We're going upstairs to study if you need us," Sophia states.

"To study, I'm sure," Zach says sarcastically while winking. I smirk at Sophia and she rolls her eyes at Zach and his boyish behaviour.

"Ew, Zach, just ew, now you've given them an idea," James mutters angrily.

I smirk more, Zach's my type of guy, he's a smartass just like the rest of my friends. James is nice too but he hates me but over the past few weeks I think he's warming up to me which is good because we're actually getting on when we're talking to each other now. Zoey's already a friend and Sophia's parents love me, especially her mother. I'm a charmer with all my girlfriend's parents, well the ones that lasted long enough to finally meet the parents, which isn't many. I haven't gotten to know Isabella much, she spends most of her time with James but she's seems like a nice girl.

"Let's go before I kill them both," Sophia mumbles. I laugh and take her hand. We walk side by side up to her bedroom and get out our History books. We were both going to revise the chapter again and then ask each other questions like lunch time. I'm definitely not going to fail another test, I have to keep my promise to Sophia. I need to stop being lazy and finally pay attention and actually try for once in my life.

"Baby, I was wondering, since we actually haven't been on our first date yet how about I take you out for your birthday next week. It was supposed to be a surprise but I couldn't keep it in any longer."

"Really? You don't have to do that."

"I was taking you out for your birthday anyways, so it's going to be extra special since it's also our first date!" I add.

"Aw thanks Jake!" She tackles me with a bear hug and we lean back on the bed in each other's arms. We laugh and her eyes sparkle with happiness and beauty, those lovely green eyes of hers that I hope our children get.

"I hope the babies get your eyes," I note, cupping her cheek.

"I hope they get yours, I love your dark chocolate brown, they're to die for!"

"Well then maybe our girl can get yours and our boy can get mine," I propose, smiling at the thought.

"And the girl can get your hair and the boy can get mine." So our boy will have golden brown hair and dark brown eyes and our girl will have dark black hair and green eyes, that sounds like a nice combination. "And our boy can get your fit body, abs and six-pack." A smirk crawls onto my lips, she's turning me on, on purpose. We make out on the bed for I don't know how long, but it was long! She slowly pulls back. "You're ready for the test."

"You really think so?" I ask uncertainly and she nods reassuringly. I think I'm going to muck it up, imagine the one time I actually learn and I get a bad grade, hopefully that won't happen. After a few minutes of chatting about the twins we go downstairs to watch TV with the others. I sit down on one of the couches and Sophia sits on my lap. She rests her head on my chest and I pull both my arms around her.

"Didn't you get in a fight today?" Zach asks me.

"Yeah, with this guy named Dave about Sophia," I confirm, a glare forming on my face just by thinking of it. I hate him so much, he had no right saying that about her. He shouldn't judge, he doesn't know everything so it's not his place to start calling her names that she isn't.

"What did he say?" Isabella inquires, looking at us with worry and shock.

"He was saying that Soph was a slut and I couldn't take it anymore so I snapped. Then the fucking asshole pushed her," I growl.

"Jake, it was an accident, he didn't mean to," Sophia reminds.

"He pushed you!" James asks with concern.

"Not on purpose, well he thought I was someone else," Sophia explains.

"He could have hurt you or the babies!" Zoey gasps.

"We're fine," Sophia assures her by giving her a smile. I move in closer and we make out again.

"Okay enough making out," James orders.

"You can't tell me what to do, I don't tell you and Isabella not to make out," Sophia remarks.

"Yeah but we're older so we're allowed to," James protests.

"So it doesn't matter about age, we can do what we want. So no more saying we can't do romantic things and I won't bug you two about romantic things either," Sophia says.

"Fine," James agrees.

"I have no one to make out with," Zach sighs. "Hey, Zoey, how about you and I make out?"

"Are you mad, Zach, I'm much, much older than you and I'm like your babysitter," Zoey objects.

"Dammit!" Zach grumbles. We laugh and I take Jake's hand and put it on my belly so he could feel the kicks. Jake rubs his thumb against the kick and I relax into him. Jake stays for dinner then we both do our homework together. It got quite late and Jake had to go so then I went to bed. When I get in the bed I get out my history book and lean over it as I say it over in my head. James walks past my door then comes back and sits down beside me.

"Sophia, it's late," he says.

"I know, just a few more minutes," I yawn.

"No, Soph, now. You need your rest for you and the babies. You're going to do wonderful on your test tomorrow, don't worry about it because if you worry you'll end up forgetting."

"Okay, James, you're right. I'm pretty tired anyway."

"So get some sleep, baby sis." He caresses my hand with his thumb. "Goodnight, Sophia." He kisses me on the head and stands up. "Love you."

"Love you too, night," I repeat. He smiles and goes into his bedroom. I turn off my light and put my book away. I close my eyes and pull the covers over me. The light switches on and Zach comes in. I groan and pull the covers over my head. "Zach!"

"Sorry, Soph, I was just saying goodnight. Love you, Sophia, sleep well," he says then kisses my forehead.

"Love you too, Zach, goodnight." Zach turns off the light on his way out and I close my eyes again. It takes a while and I toss and turn but I finally fall asleep.
