《Save My Hope》44 | Desire

Phoebe falls asleep to me, running my finger up and down her spine. I continue to do this, loving the feeling of my hands on her bare skin.

I stop, pulling her closer to me while trying not to wake her. I kiss her on the forehead and just watch her, eventually falling asleep as well.

When I wake up, Phoebe is still asleep, snuggled tightly against me. I move slightly making her let go of me and turn onto her back. The sheet slips down, exposing her breasts and I have two urges flow through me.

Should I cover her or should I run my fingers up and down her chest...

I go to cover her, but her sleepy green eyes stop me. When I look at her, she smiles and chuckles slightly. She grabs the sheet pulling it to her face and turns towards me.

Instinctively, I place my hand on her face brushing my thumb against her face.

"Good morning, beautiful." I smile, making her close her eyes and move her face into the pillow more.

"Good morning." Phoebe moves the sheet away from her, yawning. "So, what are we doing today?" She asks, biting her bottom lip slightly.

"I have work-" I see Phoebe's face dim slightly, "I know, I'm sorry."

"Noah, it's okay." Phoebe smiles, scooting closer to me. "It's your job. I understand. I think the girls want me to hang out with them anyways." She gives me a quick peck on the lips and tries to sit up, but I quickly pull her closer to me, wanting more kisses. She laughs as I manage to climb on top of her and kiss her over and over again. "Noah!" She laughs, making me stop instantly. "What?" She chuckles, giving me a big toothy smile.

"I'm incredibly lucky to have you." I start, trying to find the right words. "I'm just- happy I ran into that day since the second I laid eyes on you I just knew I wanted to be with you."

Phoebe grabs my face, kissing me. Making me fall deeper into these emotions I'm feeling right now. She lets go, looking over at the clock. "Go save some lives." She pecks me on the lips, motioning me to move, and she sits up. She slides herself to the edge of the bed and swings her legs off. Her bareback exposed to me-

"But all I want is to stay with you," I whine, making Phoebe turn around to look at me.

"Go to work." Phoebe blushes and stands up to get dressed. I watch her as she slips on her panties and a grab a matching bra. Phoebe tries to put it on but instead, whines at her ribs, making her groan in frustration. She puts both of her hands on the dresser, looking down at her feet.

I stand up, striding towards her. I move her hair to the side and kissing her on her neck and help her. She turns around to face me and gives me a thankful smile.

"It will get better, I promise." I tuck the hair behind her ears, making her lean herself into her touch.

"It needs to hurry up." Phoebe turns back around and grabs a pair of jeans. She slips them on, lightly rubbing against my... "It's the girls birthday today, so I will be doing whatever the girls want." She walks away from me going into the closet and pulls out a long sleeve shirt. She whines again, as she forces herself to pull the shirt over her head. I slip on a pair of boxers, and I walk next to her in front of the closet and grab a pair of scrub pants. I slip them on as Phoebe adjusts her turtle neck.

"I know you're stressed out and annoyed that your body isn't healing faster, but everything will be okay." I grab my scrub top looking at her, but before I can put it on, Phoebe places her hands on my chest, letting her hand fall slowly to my stomach. I smile at her, grab her face and kiss her on her beautiful, bruised nose. It looks less swollen today, but the bruising is a lot darker... We let go of each other, and I pull my shirt over me. "Also, you need to put ice-"

"Ice my nose every fifteen minutes, on an off. If the bruising gets worse or if anything gets worse I will call you." Phoebe looks at herself in the mirror, adjusting her new hair.

"I love your hair, by the way." I walk up behind Phoebe, wrapping my hands around her waist. She smiles, looking at me through the mirror. "Actually-" I grab her hips moving her body to face me. "I love you and every single thing about you." Phoebe gets on her toes, wraps her arms around my neck and kisses me.

"Noah," She whispers but shakes her head, "Nevermind. I don't want to kill the mood." Phoebe tries to pull away, but I stop her.

"Hey, whatever it is you can talk to me. You know that." I look into her eyes, and they're filled with confusion.

"I love you too. I do, but a part of me is confused. I-" Phoebe tries to take a step back, but I grab onto her wrists. "What we did last night was the most loved I have ever felt in my life, and it's just all baffling for me." I nod my head, understanding what she is saying. She has never been appropriately loved by a man before and last night was probably extreme for her.

"It was baffling for me too." I honestly say, making Phoebe knot her eyebrows. "It was. I haven't felt like that in a very long time. But it felt good, right?" I ask her, and she nods her head, starting to blush. "There will be more times like that if you want it." I kiss her on her forehead and back away from her. Phoebe gives me a small smile, turning back around to face the mirror. I head out of the room into the bathroom and finish getting ready for work. By the time I am finished, Phoebe is in the kitchen and has managed to cover up the bruises on her face with makeup.

She is finishing up the pancakes and places them on a plate for me. I smile as she slides it in front of the chair I like to sit in, and she makes herself a plate. I sit down and look at the breakfast she made me. Bacon, Eggs and Pancakes. I am about to get syrup, but she places it in front of me as well as a cup of orange juice.

"Thanks, baby." I smile, making her smile back at me. I hear the other bedroom door open, and her sisters both emerge from the room.

"Good morning, girls!" Phoebe smiles, placing their plates on the dining room table. They both look at her strangely, sitting down in front of the plates.

"Who are you, and what happened to my sister?" McKenna asks, eating her breakfast slowly.

"I'm excited about your birthday! That's all." Phoebe smiles, looking at me. Oh, it's definitely because we had sex last night. I chuckle, finishing off my breakfast.

"That's not it." Kinley says, "Wait-" Kenna quickly says, looking at me then at Phoebe. "Did you two..." Kenna's face goes pale, "Oh!" Kinley's eyes go wide.

"Girls, it's natural." Phoebe smiles, making both of them shake their heads.

"I don't want to hear it." Kenna looks at her food in disgust. "Ken it's not like you haven't done it!" Kinley says, making Kenna hit her in the arm.

"Excuse me?" Phoebe's whole demeanour changes, making me decide this is the best time to leave for work.

"Okay, I should go to work." I place my dishes in the sink, and Phoebe nods her head. I pull her into a hug, whispering "Try to have a good day. I love you." I smile, kissing her on the top of her head.

"I love you too," Phoebe says and kisses me on my lips. I smile, grab my stuff by the front door and give her another look before I leave. She smiles at me like she is telling me it's okay to go. So I open the door and close it behind me. I lock it before I leave, mostly out of pure instinct and head downstairs.

As I make my way into the car, I get a call...

"Hello?" I place my phone against my ear, putting on my seatbelt.

"Hello, Sargent McGuire. Or should I say um- Doctor McGuire?"

"Mike!" I laugh, "What's up? You in New York?" I pull out of the parking space heading to the hospital.

"Yeah, man. I just arrived at my hotel. When do you need me at the hospital?" Mike asks as I stop at a red light.

"Can you head there at 9:30, 10? It's 8:45 now." I say, continuing to drive to work. "I think my patient needs this right now."

"Yeah, I'll be there. I'll text you when I arrive."

"Great, thanks, Mike. I appreciate this. See you soon." I get onto the highway and hang up. When I enter the hospital, I tell the nurse at the desk that if a man named Mike Doulton shows up that she needs to page me. She nods her head and writes down the note. I head into the locker room and put away my things.

I clip my pager on my waistband, wrap my stethoscope around my neck and put on my lab coat. I exit the locker room, and I instantly see Leah. She gives me a nod, walking away from the nurse's station.

I grab a tablet from the nurse and do my rounds waiting for Mike to show up. Of course, I am thinking about Phoebe.
