《Save My Hope》39 | Appointment

It's been two days since my outburst, and now I am headed to the hospital to meet up with Noah. This is my first checkup since my... accident and Noah didn't tell me anything about what will happen today.
I park my car in the garage, happy that the snow has stopped and that we didn't get snowed in at all.
My sisters are getting annoyed being stuck in the apartment, so I said tonight we can all go out together and party. They don't know that I stopped drinking... But I promised Noah and myself that I would fight the urge.
After the checkup, I booked a much-needed hair appointment to chop off a big chunk of my hair. I just need a change and Jay wanted me to keep my hair long, easier to pull...
I shake my head and walk into the hospital, having significant flashbacks to when I was here last. I look down at my hand, and it's starting to shake. I fall back slightly, finding a wall to lean against.
"I'm okay. I'm okay." I whisper to myself, making a fist to stop my hands from shaking. But now my whole body is starting to shiver.
"Ma'am, are you okay?" A female nurse asks, and I look over to her and nod my head. "Can I help you?" She asks, and I nod my head.
"Noah-" I stutter, "Doctor McGuire." I managed to say, and she pulls out something from her pocket.
"I just paged him, let's sit you down." She doesn't move me; she just puts her hand on my shoulder and helps me to the floor. "Are you here for an emergency or-"
"Phoebe!" I hear Noah's voice from down the hall, making me look his way. He jogs down the hallway, wearing his white lab coat and his scrubs.
"Thank you, Nurse. I got it from here."
"Are you sure? She-"
"I'm sure. Thank you," Noah stops looking at her badge "Miss Molly."
Nurse Molly, nods her head getting off the floor and leaving us. Noah grabs my wrist, feeling my heartbeat.
"What's going on? Talk to me." Noah says, looking in my eyes. "Long deep breaths." He adds, and I do as he says.
"I- I walked in and-" I swallow the lump in my throat, "and I had flashbacks to the last time I was here."
"Okay. Are you feeling better?" Noah asks softly, and I nod my head. "Good. How about we get you off the floor and into the exam room okay?" He asks, and I nod my head. Noah helps me to my feet, and we walk down the hallways into a room. There is a table/chair that he helps me sit on, and he hands me an ugly hospital gown that I am very familiar with.
"Do I have to?" I ask, giving a disgusted look.

"Sorry, baby." Noah whispers, "I'll be right back." He says, leaving the room for me to change. I look at the gown and hesitate to get off the table.
I strip out of all of my clothes and change into the hideous gown. I sit back down on the table and fiddle with the hem of the dress. I jump when I hear a knock on the door and Noah comes in with a nurse.
"I'm going to check your vitals, and get your height and weight." Noah looks at the Nurse then at me. "After the Nurse will take some vials of blood, and I will check your surgical sights. Then you will get a chest x-ray to check on those ribs and an x-ray for your ankle." Noah puts down the clipboard and hooks me up to a machine. He checks my blood pressure, my heart rate and my temperature. Then Noah helps me to my feet, and I step on the scale, and I refuse to look at the numbers. He tells me to stand against the wall as he takes my height.
"You can sit down," Noah says, grabbing the clipboard again and writing down a few things. I sit down, looking at the Nurse as she grabs my arm. "You gained five pounds since your surgery, but you're still at an unhealthy weight, Phoebe."
I hiss as she shoves the needle into my arm, I give Noah a look, and he smiles at me. She takes five vials of blood and then takes the needle out of my arm. After she's complete, she puts a cotton ball on sight and makes me bend my arm. Once she's finished, she leaves us, and I hold my arm.
"How are you feeling?" Noah asks, and I shake my head.
"If we are honest, I feel a little faint," I answer, and Noah looks at me in worry. "I'm fine." I quickly say, "She just took a lot of blood." I unbend my elbow, hissing again but I hold the cotton ball.
"Let me tape that down," Noah says, grabbing tape from the drawer and taping down the cotton ball. "Let's get you into x-ray." Noah smiles, helping me to my feet.
My eyes roll to the back of my head, then normalise. My head falls to the side and Noah catches me.
"Hey, hey. You okay?" Noah picks me up by the waist and sits me back down. "Just relax." I put my head in my hands and wait for the world to stop spinning. "You're underweight, losing all that blood is affecting you more than the usual person. I'm going to help you into a wheelchair, and we will get your x-rays done."
"Shouldn't we wait a bit for this to blow over?" I ask, looking at him. My eyes are a bit blurry, but the world has stopped spinning.

"Here." Noah hands me a granola bar, and I start to eat it. "Eat that on the way to the x-ray. You should start to feel better."
"Okay," I whisper, and Noah grabs a wheelchair. He helps me into it, and we leave the exam room. "My-"
"No one will touch your stuff." Noah says, "Just focus on eating your granola bar." He chuckles, and we enter into a dark room. The lights are turned on, and in the large room, there is a machine in the middle of the room. "You don't have any metal on you, right?" Noah asks, and I shake my head.
I finished the granola bar, and Noah helps me to the table. He puts something on the table so I can lay my head down comfortably and puts a heavy blanket on my legs. Another person enters the room, and I quickly notice it is another male.
"Ready?" Noah asks as he puts on a strange-looking apron. "Keep your arms to your side and don't move. Okay?" He asks, and I nod my head. I close my eyes, and I hear the machine go off. "I'm going to move it to your ankle. Don't move." Noah says while moving the top of the device. I close my eyes, and the machine goes off again. "All done." He helps me sit up and moves the heavy blanket off of me. I am finally able to stand up, but he makes me sit in the wheelchair.
We leave the room after Noah tells the guy to give him the scans in exam room 114. He wheels me back into the exam room, and he tells me to sit back on the table. He places a blanket on my legs and tells me he needs to exam the surgical site. I tuck on the sheet on my legs, making sure to hide my panties and pull up the gown.
I look up at the ceiling as his gloved hands examine my stomach. He nods his head and presses down on my ribs. I flinch slightly, but they don't hurt as they used to. They are tender, but I am happy I am not in horrible pain anymore.
"All done," Noah says, as I pull the gown back over my body. He grabs the metal stool and sits down. He comes over to me and grabs my injured ankle. "How does your ankle feel?" He asks, and I nod my head.
"It's fine. It doesn't hurt anymore." I answer, not completely lying.
"Liar." Noah chuckles, as there is a knock on the door. The male from the x-ray room enters and hands Noah a folder. "Thanks, Dean." Noah opens the envelope and holds it up. "Hmm." He stands up and puts the scans on the lit-up wall.
"What?" I say, looking at the scans too. Not sure what I am looking at. I can see my foot as well as my ribs.
"Luckily, it was just a sprained ankle. But your ribs are still healing. You need to take it still easy." Noah warns, taking down the scans and putting them back in the folder. He picks up the clipboard and writes down a few more things. "Your blood test results should be complete in a few days. Go ahead and get dressed. I'll be right back." Noah smiles and leaves the room. I stand up and get dressed. I finished tying my boots, standing up and adjusting my jacket. I hear a knock on the door, and I know it's Noah cause I smell that familiar cologne.
"Am I free to go?" I ask, "I have a hair appointment." I hear the door close, and Noah's significant presence stands behind me.
"A hair appointment?" Noah asks, grabbing a strand of my hair and plays with it. I turn around and zip up my jacket.
"Yeah, I'm uh- getting a haircut." I don't know why I am starting to feel awkward around him.
"You're okay." Noah smiles, "Whatever you do to your hair, you will always be beautiful."
I smile, feeling a blush grow on my face. I look down at my feet, and Noah puts his fingers under my chin.
"I'll see you at home." Noah smiles, quickly kissing me on my forehead and leaves. I smile big, picking up my purse and leaving the room. Once I leave the room, I bump into someone.
"Oh my- I am so sorry!" I quickly say, pulling my purse over my shoulder.
"No- I'm sorry. I wasn't watching where I was going." A male voice says, putting his hands on my shoulder. "Are you okay? Did I hurt you?" He asks, and I finally look up to see big blue eyes.
"I- I'm okay." I stutter I don't feel comfortable...
"Are you sure?" The man tries to take a step towards me, but I back away. He holds his hands up in defence.
"I'm fine. Excuse me." I move around him, pushing my hair behind my ear and leaving the hospital. The guy was not wearing scrubs or that horrible hospital gown, so he must be visiting someone. He gave me the creeps...
I leave the hospital and walk towards the garage. I feel like someone is watching me, but I keep turning around, and no one is there. I am about to open my car door when someone pulls me around to face them.
