《For His Pleasure》53

"And here is the second floor living area," the real estate agent led me to a bright room, lit up by sunlight streaming through its completely windowed walls, "we call it the grand room."
"You have the most luxurious and coveted views in the whole country just in this room!" She turned to me excitedly and I had to close my gaping mouth quickly, "this building is a modern architectural masterpiece, especially this penthouse. But it's also very family-friendly and perfect for children!"
"Oh, that's lovely," I offered her a polite smile, feeling a tad uncomfortable at her enthusiasm and the fact that she had basically been selling me this penthouse for the past fifteen minutes as Ben had had to answer a call.
"Just look at that sunset!" She then gasped in awe, gazing dreamily out of the glass wall, "did I mention that you see the sunrise and sunset in the master bedroom?"
"You didn't," I told her as she glanced back at me, "that's amazing."
"Before we head to the spa downstairs, have you ever seen a polished mercury black marble island table?" She asked with her medium-length red hair bouncing as she turned yet again back to face me.
"I haven't..." I shook my head, feeling almost amused at this point.
I couldn't have even imagined a penthouse to be like this, and was completely mind-blown. My tiny cottage in the countryside flashed through my mind, and in all honesty this made me realise I wasn't ready to leave it. This was my first time back in the city since leaving and I still felt like I needed more time away. Not that Ben was asking me to move in, or anything.
Pauline, the real estate agent, was very professional and a fantastic saleswoman. I was sure that her enthusiasm and positiveness would have me ready to buy whatever she was selling me, but today I just wasn't feeling it.
After leading me more through the stunning penthouse, she began to see my morale lower and lower.
"Miss, is everything alright? If you don't like this, I've already shown Mr Capra a different type of penthouse," her expression formed into a genuinely concerned one, watching me look out of the window where, at the other side of the city my old home stood.

"You won't find a penthouse as high up as this or with such modern technology incorporated into it anywhere else, but the second penthouse is in a very historical location. The grand living room is 4000 square feet, I'm sure you'd absolutely love it!"
"No, I'm sorry, that's way too much space," I shook my head, before reminding myself that I wasn't the one buying a home here, "it's Mr Capra's choice, of course, but I just don't see the point of that big of a living room."
I had never had a cleaner or any of the kind of staff that the Capra's had. I vowed never to get one, either, which was yet another reason I didn't much care for these 20 million dollar penthouses.
"For entertaining, of course!" She clapped her hands together, "and at the end of the day I do believe the choice is in your hands, Miss."
"Excuse me?" I turned to her and away from the window, "what do you mean by that?"
Her smile faltered a little at my tired tone, "you are married, aren't you?"
My eyes widened, utterly shocked that she in her profession would make such a mistake. I was quick to shake my head.
"No. No, we're not," I kept my voice calm now, not wanting her to feel bad about the mistake, "we're just friends. Dating, actually. We've known each-other for a long while and now we're dating."
"Oh, my," she seemed as shocked at the information as I had been at her assumption, "I'm terribly sorry, Miss, I didn't mean to make you uncomfortable, I-"
"What's going on?" Ben suddenly entered the kitchen from around the corner, naturally furrowed brows even more furrowed as he had surely heard parts of our conversation.
He arrived by us, dark eyes moving between the two of us as neither seemed to have anything to say. To save the utterly horrified looking real estate agent, most likely thinking she lost her best client, I decided to just brush this all off.
"Pauline was showing me the marble island," I gave him a tightlipped smile, trying very hard not to feel uncomfortable as I knew that he'd see it, "it's beautiful."

"Polished mercury black marble island," she added, gathering herself and resuming her enthusiastic persona.
"Right," he nodded briefly and discreetly buttoned up the middle button of black his suit jacket, "have you already seen the master bedroom?"
"I haven't," I shook my head and looked back over at Pauline, who was now smiling widely at me, "but I've been told you can see the sunrise and sunset from there."
Ben grinned happily, "crazy, right?"
"Very," I laughed quietly and nodded, "I'd love to see it."
"Yes, of course! Just follow me," Pauline began guiding us out of the kitchen area, her heels clicking loudly with the marbled flooring.
I felt Ben move to walk beside me, his hand finding my lower back comfortingly.
"You hate it," he noted quietly, making sure that Pauline didn't hear.
"I think it's very lovely," I replied, not looking at him, "so much room, and so forth."
"Pauline, we'll be there soon," Ben surprised me by stopping all of a sudden and taking a gentle hold of my arm to stop me too.
She glanced back at us, but quickly replied with agreement and disappeared around a corner.
I sighed and turned to face Ben, who was carefully studying me.
"Ben, it doesn't matter what I think," I reasoned, arms folding over my chest, "I like it if you like it."
He pinched the bridge of his nose and I felt bad, knowing he'd had a long and stressful day today before coming straight to show me this penthouse with his real estate agent.
"This is very close to both Tony Prince's offices and ours. I'm sorry if I'm moving too fast for you, but I've been planning this for over a month and you know how serious I am about you," he caved in and told me firmly, "I know she's told you all about how great it would be raising kids in a place like this, and I really don't want you to get freaked out. I just know that if I buy this, you'll be staying over often which means that your opinion matters a lot right now."
"Ben..." I frowned, very hesitant of where he was heading, "we just got back together. I understand that you want to start a family and give them the best money can buy, and of course a childhood your parents never gave you, but Pauline thought we were married, for Christ's sakes... I feel very uncomfortable right now."
"Please, don't. I'm not asking you to start a family with me, Sofia," he now seemed incredibly troubled, almost to the point of frowning, "I don't want to live somewhere you wouldn't feel comfortable spending the weekend, do you understand? Or the week, whenever you're off work. That's my only end-goal here."
I sighed again and looked away, knowing he had planned much further than me just staying the night here for a couple of days.
"I'm not trying to scare you away," he added quietly, brushing a piece of hair behind my ear very lovingly, "you need to trust me here."
"Okay," I shook my troubling mindset to the back of my head and met his intense dark eyes, "I trust you."
"Fantastic," he leaned in to kiss me quickly, "tell me honestly, do you like this or not?"
"How can I know without having seen the bedroom?" I shook my head at him with a teasing smile, already beginning to walk to where Pauline had gone.
Ben caught up with me with a few steps and placed his hand back on my lower back with a quick kiss to my temple.
"Thank you," he thanked me for trying to stay openminded for him and taking the time to see the whole penthouse before judging too much.
