《Sugar And Spice》Chapter forty-eight: First kiss

The bell rang and I went to get it while Faith made coffee. I opened the door to see Dylan and Olivia.

"Hey," I stepped aside and let them in.

"Dylan? Oh my god, what're you guys doing here?" Faith chuckled while walking over.

"Our flight got postponed to tomorrow and so we're staying at a hotel nearby. I just thought we'd come and pay a visit," Dylan hugged her before nodding at me.

"So, how have you guys been?" Olivia asked us.

"Liv, it hasn't even been a full week," Dylan laughed. She elbowed his ribs before going into the kitchen with Faith while Dylan and I sat on the couch. "I heard you two fought, a petty one," Dylan said.

"Hayley told you?" I questioned and he nodded in response.

"It was very pointless," I chuckled. "We sorted it out, no big deal," I shrugged.

"What was it about?" he questioned.

"I didn't want her going anywhere with her psychotic ex-boyfriend's girlfriend who was claiming to be stalked by the ex-boyfriend. I knew she was lying but Faith wanted to help so she went with her. Last-minute, the girl admitted she was lying and I followed them there and brought Faith back." Blank. He understood none of that. "Whole story?" I asked and he nodded.

Well then, this might take a while.

"Bye, have fun!" Faith hugged both of them as they left. They stayed till dinner and left right now to get back to the hotel since their flight was early morning tomorrow.

"I didn't know you cook lasagna so well," I turned to Faith.

"I bet you there's still a lot you don't know about me, as surprising as it sounds," she shrugged while cleaning up. I began helping.

"Hmm, like what?" I asked while I washed some of the dishes.

"Like..." she thought for a moment.

"Who's my favorite singer, Alex?" she questioned. I thought for a moment. I didn't think she had one but who would it be if she had to choose. "Okay, what's my favorite song?" she smirked.

"Sunday Candy," I answered.

"And my favorite singer?" she asked again.

"Guy or girl?" I asked while drying my hands.

"Guy," she answered.

I gave up, "Who is it?" I asked.

"It's probably Shawn Mendes or Ed Sheeran," she answered.

"I should have gotten that," I mumbled.

"Who was my first kiss?" she asked. I was blank, I had no idea. Hasn't she told me this? "You know this person," she hinted.

"I was your second, I know that," I said to myself.

She looked at me for a second before gasping. "No, you weren't," she laughed.

"Yes, I was."

She shook her head, "You weren't my second. You were my first," she laughed.

"What?" I chuckled.

"I always thought my first was Daniel but it wasn't a real kiss. It wasn't even on the lips, he missed."

My eyes widened, "It was Daniel?!" I asked, stunned.

"No," she shook her head, "It was you."

"When did you almost kiss Daniel?" I asked.

"In sixth grade. At Amber's party that you didn't show up for," she replied. "It was spin the bottle but um- I dodged the kiss," she mumbled.

"Why?" I laughed.

"Just because," she shrugged, "I got nervous."

Liar.

"Who'd you have a crush on?" I questioned with a knowing smirk. She looked at me but didn't say a word. "Me?!" I asked in disbelief.

"It was only for like two days. That happened to be one of them," she huffed, folding her arms across her chest. I laughed before grabbing the sides of her face and kissing her. "Who was your first kiss?" she asked while hanging up the rag.

"You," I laughed. She smiled before kissing me again.

Glad to know I was her first kiss too. I always thought I was her second and she was my first but nope, that's not how the story goes. If you're wondering how we kissed, let me tell you. We hated each other even then but we were forced to work together on a project which involved creating posters for the game that we had as eighth-graders. Yes, I had my first kiss in eighth grade.

I had to go to her house for the project and we were waiting in her car while her mom stopped at the grocery store and she was humming to the music playing. I remember this so vividly. And I was staring at her and I was confused as to why I hated her because frankly, we never fought.

It was just a born hatred. And then I started getting confused if I hated her at all and then she turned to me and asked why I was staring at her and instead of answering her, I just... kissed her. And then both of us acted like it never happened.

And that is how Faith Hughes became my first kiss and I became hers.

It was currently the middle of the night and we were still awake, rewatching Friends.

"Matthew Perry was so hot," she mumbled.

"So was Jennifer Aniston," I said.

"She still is, excuse me?" she looked at me in disbelief.

"True," I nodded in agreement. I turned the TV off after an episode and she began getting out of bed. "Where are you going?" I pulled her back down with a pout.

"To the bathroom," she laughed, slipping out of my grip and coming back with her face washed and in her pajamas. I went and changed and brushed my teeth after her before collapsing on the bed, lying on my stomach and snatching her phone. "Yes?" she turned to me.

"Attention," I grinned.

"I never do this to you, I should sometimes," she narrowed her eyes at me playfully.

"You're more than welcome to," I smiled.

"What do you wanna do?" she asked while running her fingers through my hair.

"Kiss you," I replied.

"Funny," she deadpanned.

"Face masks?" she suggested.

"Why not?" I laughed.

She walked into the bathroom and came out with the facemasks. "You bought them?" she laughed.

"Well I knew you'd spend a lot of time here and you liked these ones so I bought them," I shrugged.

"Isn't that sweet?" she chuckled while opening one and applying it all over my face after tying my hair back. I looked up at her while she smudged it out with her finger. "What?" she chuckled while stepping back and applying some to herself.

"I didn't say anything," I laughed while falling back, resting my head on a pillow. "

You were gawking," she gave me a pointed look.

"I like to admire what's mine," I shrugged.

She laughed before lying beside me after she finished applying her face mask.

"That was so corny," she shook her head.

"I know," I chuckled. After just hanging out for a while, we washed them off and went to sleep.

It was the middle of the night and the doorbell was ringing like crazy. My parents weren't home and they wouldn't be for the rest of our break because they went to our lakehouse. I groaned and withdrew my arm from around Faith and went downstairs.

I rubbed my eyes and ran my hand through my hair while opening the door. It was a guy in a hoodie with the hood up and his back facing me. "Can I help you?" I huffed.

He turned around and it was Cody. "I need to see Faith," he said quietly.

"What the fuck are you doing here? Get out," I huffed in exhaustion. I'm sick and tired of beating him up with every interaction we have, this is getting old.

"Look, I'm leaving in two hours. I just want to say bye to her."

Is he kidding?

"What makes you think she'll be awake at four in the morning?" I questioned in confusion.

"She may not be awake but you leaving her alone definitely woke her up," he replied.

On cue, I heard footsteps coming down the stairs. "What're you doing?" her voice followed. She stopped in her tracks when her eyes landed on Cody. She raised her eyebrows at me and I glanced at my room. She took the hint and began going back there but Cody's voice stopped her.

"I'm sorry," he said quickly. "I'm sorry for everything I did. I'm just here to say goodbye. I'm leaving," he said while trying to step inside.

"You're not there yet, buddy," I shoved him back.

He nodded to himself before taking the hood off and looking at Faith. "Do you forgive me?" he asked her.

"No," Faith answered with no hesitation. He said sorry one last time before leaving.

I shut the door, locking it twice before heading back over to Faith.

"What the hell was that?" Faith huffed while running her hand through her hair.

"I don't know, it doesn't matter," I brushed her hair out of her face before she hugged me. "It doesn't matter."
