《Sugar And Spice》Chapter twenty-four: Face masks and Friends

"Night," I pushed myself off his car window to head into my house.

"Wait, what's the rush?" He grabbed my hand and pulled me back.

"I've been standing here for ten minutes and we've said bye ten times," I laughed.

"Don't leave! What am I gonna do at home?" he arched an eyebrow at me.

"That's your problem, not mine," I shrugged.

"What are you gonna do?" he questioned.

"I'm gonna take a long shower, apply a face mask and watch Friends," I answered truthfully.

"Can I do all of that with you?" he smirked.

"You already took a shower at school, tough luck," I shrugged, biting back a laugh at his pout. "But if you want to apply face masks and watch Friends then I think you can come over. I'll just have to ask," I said.

"Can I ask? I think I'm more persuasive than you are."

I'd like to see him try.

"Sure, come on in," I backed away and he stepped out, entering my house with me. We walked in and were greeted by my parents sitting at the kitchen counter, my dad had his glasses sliding down the bridge of his nose while going through college papers while my mom finished cleaning up.

"Hey, you guys!" My mom greeted us cheerfully.

"Hey," I kissed my dad's cheek and then my mom's while Alex stood there. "Alex just came to drop me home, even though he lives next door," I whispered the last part to Alex while I went and stood beside him.

"I actually came to ask you two for permission," he began. "I was wondering if I could-"

Cat got his tongue.

"Can he stay here for a while? We wanted to hang out a little longer but I didn't want to stay out of the house." I spoke up.

"Have you kids seen the time?" My dad took his glasses off and turned to us.

"Yes, we have, which is exactly why I thought it would be better to hang out in the house rather than out and about," I raised my eyebrows at him. I have a way with words, a silver tongue but I'm really just good with twisting words. That makes me sound like such a snake. I'm not, I swear.

"The door stays open," my dad huffed.

"Richard! Give them some privacy. Go ahead," she waved his hand dismissively.

"Just a few hours!" My dad called after us. I shook my head while turning the lights on in my room and heading straight to my closet. I grabbed a pair of pajamas.

"Feel free to do whatever you like, I'll be out in a bit," I said to him before going into my bathroom and taking a shower. Not a long one because he was outside and he would get bored to death. I came out with my hair towel-dried and comfy pajamas on and he was just lying on my bed, staring up at my ceiling fan.

"Have you been doing that the entire time?"

He got startled and fell right off the bed.

"Sorry, I didn't mean to scare you," I laughed.

"Sure you didn't," he rolled his eyes.

"Face masks?" I arched an eyebrow at him.

"Sure, why not?" he shrugged nonchalantly. I went into the bathroom and came out with a face mask. He just sat there while I stood there, waiting for him to brush his hair back but I don't think he was getting the hint.

"What?" we asked at the same time. "Get your hair out of the way!" I laughed.

"Oh, sorry." He brushed his hair to the side only for it to fall back again. I rolled my eyes and grabbed him a hair tie. "What do I do with this?" he asked while eyeing it.

"You use it and tie your hair," I said in a 'duh' tone.

"Huh?" He looked at me in confusion.

"You know how to use a hair tie, don't you?" I looked at him.

"Yeah," he nodded slowly. "What hair am I supposed to tie? It's not that long!" he reasoned.

"Oh, Jesus," I sighed before handing him the face mask and tying his hair in a little ponytail. "That's how," I took the mask and applied it onto his face. I went into the bathroom while he followed me in and watched. He looked at himself in the mirror and immediately reached to undo the hair.

"Don't!" I screamed. "You will get it all in your hair, just let it be," I huffed. "Plus, it looks cute. Weirdly enough," I mumbled.

"I should go," he mumbled sleepily while I jumped just a little, blinking my eyes open.

"Okay," I turned my laptop off and placed it on the floor.

"I'll just get my stuff together," he mumbled while I pulled the covers closer to my chest.

"Night," I whispered and that was the last thing I remembered before dozing off.

"Richard! Come on, it wasn't meant to happen, they cleared dozed off." I heard hushed whispers. I rubbed the sleep out of my eyes, slowly opening them to the sun shining like there was no fucking tomorrow.

Seriously, why is it so fucking bright? There is tomorrow. Can't it rise tomorrow?

I stumbled out of bed and opened my door slowly, leaning over the staircase railing, eavesdropping. "Monica, we gave them permission to hang out for a while, not for the kid to stay here!"

The kid? What k- oh no! Oh, my god!

I stumbled back into my room, looking to see Alex knocked out on my bed. I was about to shake the fuck out of him and throw him out the window myself but I heard my parents walking up the stairs, and so I did the right thing. I jumped right back into bed and acted like I was still asleep.

"Look at them, they're dead asleep." My mom whispered. I heard Alex shuffling before I felt the covers being pulled down. He threw them off and I turned to my side, playing it off while peeping to see him shirtless.

Kill me right the fuck now.

I clenched my jaw before kicking him right off the bed. I heard my dad snicker before Alex groaned and stood up. "Ow! What the- Morning sir!" he stood up in a panic. I 'woke up' and sat up in shock.

"Whoa! What happened?" I rubbed my eyes.

"You two fell asleep last night, it's okay! Richard." My mom dragged dad out and closed the door for us.

"You call him sir?" I laughed.

"It worked when I had to impress him, Faith. Why'd you kick me off?" he whined.

"Why'd you sleep here? That too, shirtless!" I exclaimed.

"We probably fell asleep. I just remember waking up in the middle of the night cause I felt hot and just throwing my shirt off. I thought I was in my room," he sat back down on the bed.

"Oh! I don't know, did you perhaps see me?" I looked at him, bewildered.

"I thought I was dreaming again," he groaned. His neck snapped as he turned to face me.

"You've had a dream about me?" I smirked.

"No," he said too quickly.

"What was it?" I lied on my stomach beside him, taunting him.

"Nothing that you need to know," he stood up quickly, throwing his shirt on.

"Was it dirty?" I teased further.

He stopped moving and I broke into laughter. "Faith, you are so dead," he whispered.

"Oh, really? Am I?" I smirked before he began tickling me. I screamed and laughed until he pinned my hands, hovering over me.

"You tell nobody, you hear me? I'll kill you," he arched an eyebrow at me.

"Okay, whatever you say," I rolled my eyes.

"I'm serious. Not even Hayley."

I whined, "Hey, she's my best friend. She doesn't count!" I countered.

"She does now," he looked me dead in the eye.

"Fine, I won't tell anyone. Now will you get off?" I asked.

"Do I have to?" he narrowed his eyes at me.

"Mm-hmm," I nodded.

He sighed in defeat, "Fine." He cleared his throat, "I should probably get going," he threw his shoes on.

"Why don't you stay for breakfast? You're here anyway," I shrugged while drinking water.

"I don't think your dad wants to see me right now," he chuckled slightly.

"I don't think he cares," I shrugged.

"Did you hear one word from that conversation?" He looked at me in confusion.

"Trust me, he doesn't care." I looked at him, waiting for his answer.

"Fine, but if he kills me, I will come back specifically to haunt you," he nodded. "And I will take you with me."

I gasped sarcastically, "Well, you die and you're taking me down with you? How romantic," I rolled my eyes while getting out of bed and heading to my bathroom. I grabbed a spare toothbrush from the cabinet and handed it to him.

"Guest bathroom is down the hall, to the left," I instructed. He left and I went into the bathroom, brushing my teeth and washing my face before meeting my parents and Alex at the table.

"What're you guys laughing about?" I asked while making myself a cup of tea.

"Well, the way he fell asleep last night is exactly how your father got caught when we started dating," my mom laughed.

"Mom, you two started dating when you guys were fourteen!" I looked at her in shock.

"So? It's young love, honey, shh!"

What the fuck did I just hear? Did I hear that right?
