《Sugar And Spice》Chapter twenty: Babies

It was currently lunch and Faith, Hayley, Daniel and I were all sitting in the field. We were talking about random things and then Hayley said something that caught mine and Faith's attention.

"You two would make really cute babies," Hayley thought out loud while looking between Faith and me.

"What?" we asked in sync.

"Wouldn't they?" she nudged Daniel.

"Yeah," he nodded.

What the fuck?

"I mean, you're both like model status pretty, your children would be pretty," she shrugged.

"Hayley, are you high?" Faith questioned.

"No, can you pass me my bag?" she asked. Faith leaned back in her seat and reached for her bag. "What is that?" Hayley laughed while looking at Faith's leg.

Oh yeah, that.

"That is his masterpiece," she glanced at me while handing Hayley her bag.

"Oh yeah, see!" I showed my hand like a little kid.

"You know what, nevermind, you can't have babies, you are babies," Hayley rolled her eyes. I pouted while leaning my head on Faith's shoulder. She laughed and I kept staring.

She is stunning.

The way her soft dimple peeks through when she smiles, the way her eyes close with a gentle crinkle around the corner, the way her nose scrunches up when she looks at something weird but a little when she laughs too, her freckles that dance along her skin.

I snapped out of it when she stopped laughing and turned to face me. She raised her eyebrows at me.

"What're you doing?" she chuckled.

"Staring," I said bluntly.

"I can see that," she deadpanned.

"So?" I asked. She shook her head with a smile and got back to her conversation with Hayley. The bell rang and we all stood up, grabbing our things and heading for class. Faith and I have geography and then study hall so we decided to go home early.

Our geography teacher, Mr. Hall isn't nice but isn't a pain in the ass either. As long as you don't disturb his teaching then he's fine. Unfortunately, disturbing him is what I do.

"Hello, Mr. Hall!" I cheered while walking into class. Faith ducked her head down and sat in her seat, stifling a laugh.

"Oh, you're here," he rolled his eyes while writing the date and topic on the board.

"Mr. Hall, is that a new sweater?" I taunted while sitting beside Faith. The seats in this room were always in pairs and that just happens to work in my favor.

"Yes, it is, Mr. Ryder. Do you have a problem with that?" he put the marker down while turning to me, sighing in frustration.

"No sir, not at all! It's a very stunning shade of red," I teased. "In fact, I was wondering where I could find one for my-" Faith cut me off when she smacked her hand over my mouth.

"I'm sorry, Mr. Hall," Faith said in a small voice. He gave her a nod before she pulled her hand away and turned to me. "What are you doing?" she bit back a smile of amusement.

"I was wondering where I could find one for myself, Mr. Hall?" I turned to Mr. Hall again.

"Would you like to be kicked out of class before class even begins, Mr. Ryder?" he arched an eyebrow at me.

"Of course not, sir." I smiled. And that's my dose for today. After he gets to that point, I usually shut up.

"Oh my god, shut up," she laughed while resting her head on the desk. She turned to me with a faint smile and I scrunch my nose at her. She shook her head as class began and we behaved like good students for the remainder of the class.

"Oh wow, I hate being here," she sighed while I held the door open for her, allowing her into the passenger seat.

"Ouch," I laughed while getting in myself.

"No, I mean being here at school, nothing to do with the people. Well, some people aside but waking up so early and sitting trapped in four walls for eight hours is just..." she trailed off while throwing her hair up in a ponytail.

"I know," I backed out of the parking lot. I reached my hand around her seat, leaning back and looking before putting the car into drive and starting the drive home.

"I'm sorry for just throwing my thoughts at you when we skipped. I could have explained that a little better," she chuckled in embarrassment.

"You did it as nicely as you could," I shrugged while glancing at her. The rest of the car ride was a comfortable silence and then we reached. She got out and walked over to my side while I rolled the window down. It's a daily thing now.

"I'll see you tomorrow early? We have to set up," she leaned over.

"Sure thing," I smiled. We said bye and she began walking to her house but turned back.

"Do you wanna come inside? Try out that cup of coffee?" she asked with a hopeful smile.

"Would you like me to?" I smirked.

"You might wanna take the offer while it's still on the table," she arched an eyebrow at me. I nodded and stepped out, locking the car and heading inside with her. I sat at the kitchen counter while she made my coffee, watching her move from one place to another.

"Sugar?" she asked.

"Nope," I shook my head, not that she could see while her back facing me.

"I'm gonna put in a little bit anyway, you won't even taste it and it'll be the best black coffee you've ever had," she spoke and I could hear the smile in her voice. I laughed while she stirred before sliding the cup over to me. I blew on it to cool it down a little before taking a sip. "You like it?" she asked while leaning over the counter in excitement.

That truly is the best coffee I've ever had.

"It's amazing," I chuckled while taking another sip.

"Told you," she shrugged cockily before taking her shoes off and sliding across the floor, grabbing the house phone and playing the messages. The first two were for her parents and the third one was for her.

"I had fun in the morning today, wanna do it again? Call me back," Cody's voice rang through the phone.

I turned around to see her frozen, rooted to one spot. I'm decided to push the fuming rage aside and let her explain.

"Alex," she sighed while turning to face me.

"Explain," I demanded.

"It's not what you think, I don't know what he's trying to do but I didn't do anything with him this morning," she sighed in stress.

"No? He just decided to drop a message telling you he had fun?" I asked while standing up.

"I-" she sighed when she couldn't explain herself. "When I was walking to the first period, he pulled me into an empty classroom," she began, "He told me I should break it off with you because people are gonna think that I'm hopping from guy to guy because I moved on from him so fast. I didn't want his words to get to me, and I really tried that they didn't but they were clawing at me. He said people would think I'm-" she got caught on her words.

I understood what she was getting at. "You're not a whore just because he said it, Faith."

Okay, I could have said that a little more nicely.

"You're giving his opinions too much importance," I sighed. Then it clicked. "Is that why you asked to slow down? Because he said so?" I thought his words influenced her but I didn't know they planted thoughts in her head.

"Alex," she sighed.

I scoffed, "He cheated on you, and you broke up with him but he's still controlling you, Faith. I can't do this," I grabbed my stuff.

"This is what he wants, Alex. He wants us to fight and for everyone to see, don't do this." She walked over to me and tried grabbing my arm.

"Faith, you want to take it slow right? We'll take it slow. Real slow." I nodded before picking up my bag and leaving.

"Alex!" She called after me while following me out of her house.

I'm not mad at her. Okay, maybe a little, but I'm furious with Cody. I don't wanna do something I'll regret so I thought the safest option is to distance myself for a little while. If I don't, I'll make myself upset and her upset and that's the last thing I wanna do.

I marched into my house and stormed up to my room and saw her opening her window.

"Alex, listen to me!" she pleaded. I set my stuff down and leaned over my window.

"What?" I huffed.

"I know his intentions are wrong and fucked up, but what he said isn't wrong. We did move too fast. I said that to you because of the reason that I told you, not because I didn't want people calling me a whore!" she shouted.

"Faith, I need some space." I closed the window and the blinds.

I hate him.

They broke up, he's supposed to be gone but he's still controlling every move she makes.
