《INSANITY》46 | then silence...

Adriano Moretti's POV

I busted through the door, cradling my side with one arm. Searing pain rushed around me, but my mind was focused on one thing and one thing only. Her.

All I could see was the room erupting in blood. No. It can't be hers. Please don't be hers.

A body thumped to the floor. I looked down. The scum who had ruined her life. Who had tried to hurt all of those kids down in the basement. Who had bought Bella. I wanted to kill him myself.

However, the large knife jutting out from his neck told me there was no need.

I kicked his body off of hers and fell to my knees.

"My Bella," I stroked her cheeks with my calloused, scarred hands.

She seemed almost out of it, but she recognized my face. A small smile was set upon her lips. Her eyes widened slowly, as if she wanted to take in as much of me as she could.

Her voice was gravely and hoarse, "Hey there, Mafia Man. Bout time you showed up." Her hands weakly grabbed for mine. Always so teasing.

"Do not worry, Tesoro. I will get you out of here and take you home." I stared into her deep brown, almost black eyes. I dragged a finger around her temple down her cheek in a smooth motion. Her skin was dirty and coated with red stains but my mind didn't even think twice about it.

How transformative these eyes could be. When she first stared at me with her cool, practiced gaze that first night in the alley. She had looked so beautiful and so powerful, unlike how people usually had presented themselves to me. She held no fear in those eyes, ever.

How those eyes would light up when she teased me or when she had succeeded in a fresh kill. She was unhinged, but a force to be reckoned with, always.

How she had looked so scared of what we were becoming on the rooftop that day. I had wanted to take all of her worries. Let her depend on me. I wanted to carry all of the weight of her troubles just so she could feel free to be happy.

To now, when her eyes held something different in them. The deep dark pools that I had often found myself lost in had lost their spark. They looked almost blank.

Her gaze was too final.

Like she was going somewhere.

I stroked her hair, not caring about the dried blood and dirt in it, "You aren't going anywhere, My Bella."

I went to lift her up and she winced harshly. I looked below her form to see a puddle of dark red forming beneath her body. No.

I laid her back down as not to disturb her any more.

I couldn't leave her, but I needed help.

She began to grow limp beneath me and her eyes glazed over.

I screamed for Mary, my whole chest feeling like it was caving in. I screamed and screamed as I clutched mi tesoro closer and closer.

PSYCHO's POV

I remember the hot blood splashing half of my face and the satisfaction of Hank's body making it's final thud. I'd never have to hear another sound from that sack of shit.

I quickly changed from feeling satisfied to instant pain rushing through me.

Then two stormy blue eyes looked down at me.

My breaths grew shorter and farther apart.

I heard his raspy voice screaming for help.

Suddenly, I didn't feel any pain at all.

And everything went silent. I had felt everything. Then nothing.
