《His Baby-momma》Chapter 28

"Are you sure you have all the needed documents." I asked Sean as we stepped out the car.
"Yes." He replied in a bored tone. Sometimes working with your younger sibling can be annoying because no matter what he does I can't fire him.
We make our way in and head to the receptionist.
"Morning. We're here for the meeting with the CEO." I greeted the young receptionist.
She smiled at me and blushed when she noticed Sean. Kids.
She looked back down at her memo and looked back up at me and spoke. "You're early."
"I know. We can make our way up right?" I raised an eyebrow.
"Yes, sure" she rushed.
Real reason why I'm actually early is because I want to see Elena. My plan is to surprise her when I get there, and if there's lots of young males in the meeting then I'll be sure to make them understand that I've marked my territory.
I just can't love her enough. Lena is my drug. I'm like a fiend and she's literally all that I need. Her craziness, those curls on her head, her melanin skin, it's all just intoxicating. And her in bed..
"And a little heads up, I just thought you might want to know that Cruella lives on that last floor. " Sean's voice interrupted my thoughts from going back to last night.
"Who is Cruella and why is there a person living in a corporation? " I asked him
"You don't know Cruella?" Sean gasped.
"No?" I shook my head
"Oh Lord! I have to have a talk with Elena about this. What is she doing with you? Why don't you know Cruella? Maybe if y'all stopped getting nasty all the time you'd know Cruella." He ranted.
I rolled my eyes at his behaviour.
The lift dinged and we walked out. I only came with Sean because he's secretary and literally the person I need with me in this meeting. Call me a person with trust issues, but I don't really trust involving lots of workers in meetings that don't involve them. That just increases the rate of them going to sell ideas to other people and I don't have the time nor energy to entertain that extra type of shit.
I spotted a lady sitting behind a desk and noticed that it was the only desk around here, so I approached it. "That's her!" Sean whispered behind me.
I ignored him and approached the so called Cruella.
"Are you Cruella?" I asked
"Excuse me?" She looked up
"How many secretaries are there on this floor?" I ignored her.
"Oh, you must be Mr Knight, you're early. I'm Stella." She stood, with a very wide smile on her face. She stretched her hand forward for a hand shake. I looked at it then back at her.

"You didn't answer my question."
"You're here for the meeting isn't? Then why worry about the amount of secretaries here?" She came to stand beside me.
"Told you" Sean whispered again.
"Why are you here?" Stella, or Cruella or whatever her name is, asked Sean.
"You still haven't given me my desired answer." I interrupted her
"Well, I'm the only secretary here. The boss also has a PA whose office is over there.. " she pointed to a door and I started making a beeline to it. She continued following me, why is she so clingy?
"But let me warn you, she's very lazy and barely even does any work-"
I reached for the door handle, but someone on the inside turned the knob.
With the door slightly ajar, I saw Lena's eyes shut. I quickly pushed the door open and reached out for her before she could fall.
"Lena? Babe?" I called out, but no response from her.
I checked her left hand for a pulse and it was there, but I don't know what's wrong with her. Her silence is killing me. My heart beat has increased just from seeing her lie in my arms.
"What happened to Lena?" Sean rushed in.
"I don't know, she just fainted." I replied.
"You guys know her?" The lady asked
I tapped Lena's cheeks but nothing.
"What did you guys do to her?" I asked her
"I d-don't know" she stuttered.
"If anything happens to her or my child, I'll be suing this company." I lifted Elena up and carried her out.
"You're her baby daddy?" Her eyes widened. "I thoug- I thought she didn't know who- but.. - I ..." She said dumbfounded.
I walked pass her and went to elevator.
"Does he look like her sugar daddy to you?" Sean asked.
"Sean hurry up! " I snapped. This is no time for sarcastic remarks.
He got into the elevator and we descended. I rushed out the lobby with her and got into the car.
Sean got into the driver's seat and started the car. "Should I call Barbara?" Sean asked.
"No time, just get to the nearest hospital. We'll transfer her later."
"Lena? Babe?" I slightly shook her, but still got no response from her. My heart is thumping really fast and I'm trying my best to block out all the bad thoughts from coming to mind.
"Drive faster Sean!" I panicked.
"Yes, yes"
A couple of minutes later we pulled up at a hospital.
"Go get the nurses while I follow behind with her." I explained to him.
Sean got out the car and sprinted to the hospital.
"Lena, please don't leave me. Fight for yourself, fight for the baby, please- fight for me. I can't live without you." My voice cracked.

I wiped the stray tear that slid down from my eye and placed a kiss on her forehead. I gave her tummy a rub and softly tickled her sides with the hopes that baby would move as usual.
I felt baby move and let out a sigh of relief, at least now I know that it's not that severe since baby is still active.
I got out the car with her when I saw Sean approaching us with nurses and a gurney.
I placed her on the gurney and followed behind the nurse's. They entered a room with her and I knew that I wouldn't be allowed in, so I stayed out.
I sat on the waiting chairs outside the room and removed my blazer. Darn that stupid meeting. If anything happens to Lena, anything at all, even if a single strand of curls fall of her head, that company will be sued and I'll make sure that they have nothing left.
"Are you alright?" Sean sat beside me.
I nodded in response.
"I'll go call Mom and let Lena's friends know." He stood.
"Are you the pregnant patients relative?" I looked up when I heard a nurse ask.
"Yes, I'm her husband." I stood up.
"The doctor wants to talk to you. And could you please fill these forms out." She handed me forms.
"Where's the doctor?" I impatiently asked.
"She's in the room your wife entered." She pointed to Lena's room.
"Thanks." I said and rushed to the room.
"Doctor." I greeted.
"Hi, you must be her..?"
"I'm Elena's husband, Ethan Knight." I introduced.
"Oh, good to meet you Mr Knight. I'm Dr Human." He introduced himself. The surname and his job just compliment each other.
"How's Lena?" I glanced over at her.
"She's been stabilized for now. Could you please tell me what happened?"
"Even I'm not sure what happened. I'd gotten to her just before she fainted and brought her straight here." I explained.
"Does your wife have trouble sleeping?" He asked.
"Not at all. I sometimes feel that she oversleeps."
"Well, from the checkups I've done on her. It seems like she overdosed." He stated, while going through his clip board.
"I'm sorry, what?" I questioned.
"She overdosed. Well at least it's considered overdosing for pregnant women."
"What are you saying? Did she overdose, or not?" This doctor has me confused.
"For a normal person two sleeping pills aren't considered harmful. But for a pregnant woman, two pills are considered overdosing because her body is already tired from carrying the baby. She's basically always tired and hungry, now the sleeping pills added to her already tired self and because her body couldn't handle the fatigue, it shut down." He explained.
"So she's just sleeping, right? And the baby isn't affected either right?" I asked
"Yes, she's sleeping and yes the baby isn't affected either. Her body shut down so she can get the rest she needs. She should be up in a day or two."
"Why so long?" I asked
"Because her body has to get back all required energy for her body to function properly. If she doesn't get enough sleep then she might face drowsiness, headaches and severe fatigue."
"Ohh, I understand. Thank you Doc." I shook his hand.
He left the room and I made my way to Lena's side.
"You guys are okay." I kissed her protruded tummy and her forehead.
...
"Ethan!? Ethan?!" I heard my mom's screams.
People started throwing questioning looks at my herd of a family that flooded into the hospital. And does Mom not know that this is a hospital?
I rushed over to her so she could stop screaming my name out.
"Quiet down mom, this is a hospital." I shushed her.
"Don't tell me what to do!" She said even louder.
"Where's my baby?" She looked around.
"I thought I was your baby." Sean pouted.
"After Elena, now where is she?" She asked
"This way." I led the way. "But please be very quiet, the doctor said she needs her rest and that she'll be up in a day or two." I explained before opening the door.
"Sorry sir, but you all aren't allowed to go in there." A nurse came up before we could enter.
"Why not?" Sean asked
"There's many of y'all and that could risk you guys making noise and disturbing the patients sleep." She explained.
"She isn't a patient and fine they'll stay back." She turned to all my brothers and gave them the don't you dare argue with me look before they could even open their mouths to protest.
"This better?" She pointed to me, dad and herself.
"Yes." The nurse replied.
"Now if you'll excuse me." Mom made her way into Lena's room.
"Awwwn look at her. What happened to her?" Mom finally asked.
I debated on whether or not to tell her the truth. Because I know this woman, and she's mad enough to try neuter the person that did that to Lena with kitchen utensils.
"I know that look. Don't you dare lie to me. I want the truth and I want it now."
"Keep it down sweetie. Remember that Elena needs her rest." Dad calmed her down.
"Okay. Now you," she pointed at me." Tell me everything."
"Elena was drugged." I said
" Wha-" Dad placed his hand to muffle her scream and lifted her up and moved out the room.
I looked over at Lena then followed behind.
