《His Baby-momma》Chapter 5

I tapped my foot as I stood in the elevator. Today was my first day at work and I remember that the lady who called me, Stella, telling me to go to the last floor. So here I was in the elevator.
I'm totally feeling better today compared to yesterday. JoJo had woken me up later last night to eat then I'd gone right back to bed after eating.
I got up today and Abby had prepared breakfast for me while JoJo laid out an outfit for me.
No words could describe how grateful I was that I had those two in my life. They are my rock and I know that I could lean on them anytime.
They didn't judge me after me telling them about the ordeal that I'd gone through and I couldn't be happier that they are my friends.
I wouldn't even have eaten or maybe even bothered to show up here today if it wasn't for my besties. Friday night was just heartbreaking for me. I really don't know why something like that would happen to me. But I guess I am to blame.
I was careless and was behaving like a reckless sophomore at a house party. And ended up getting my freak on with a stranger.
I was brought out of my thoughts as I heard the ding of the elevator signifying that I had arrived.
It was kinda weird that I was the only one in the elevator. I mean it was like 7:50 and this place was still very isolated.
I walked out and noticed a table on the left side and walked towards it. On reaching the table I realised that no one was there.
O..kay. So Stella told me to be here at 08:00 but she isn't here herself.
What is up with this place. I mean, I'm already feeling like shit and there they are making me regret leaving my bed. I would've been wallowing in my self-pity by now.
I sat on one of the waiting chairs and just waited.
By 08:20 I saw a woman waltz in. And I already didn't like her just from seeing her. She was dripping i-am-a-bimbo like Chanel perfume. From her clothes to her walk. It was like she was begging for attention. But I won't voice out my thoughts because that would be rude.
She glanced at me and continued with her walk to the desk. And I already knew that this woman and I were not gonna get along.

I stood up and looked down at her.
"Uhm, hi. I'm Elena Parke." I said looking at her.
"I guessed. You've gotten the job as the CEO's PA. He usually comes in at like 10h. So I'm sure that he'll assign you some work or something." She said standing up.
Why does this guy come in at ten. What type of CEO comes in at ten! It's like my luck just keeps getting better.
Note the sarcasm.
"This is the break room. It's basically the kitchen." She opened a door that was a couple of steps away from her table.
I just nodded.
"This is the CEO's office and yours is the one opposite his."
She closed his door and opened mines. I felt like I was a home buyer and she was the real estate agent.
"So before you start or anything. I just wanted you to know that you've come here to work. So don't give people unnecessary attention and you won't get unnecessary attention in return. But I'm sure that no one in there right sense of mind would look at that twice." She said the last part whilst scanning me up and down with her eyes then nodding.
She was literally judging me with her eyes. What she said kinda did hurt. It immediately reminded me of Friday and she was right. No one in their right sense of mind would look at me twice and that guy from Friday just proved her right because he must've been intoxicated. And the fact that he left first thing in the morning just added more truth to her theory.
I just looked at her waiting for her to say something else. I wasn't even gonna bother replying her because my body was like do drained and I really didn't have the physical strength to start an argument or a talk-off with her.
She must've seen the uninterested look on my face because she walked to her table to read something then she looked back up at me.
"If I'm not mistaken there should be some files or documents in your new office that the last PA has left. So I'm sure you can just move on from there." She spoke, kinda keeping her face stoic for some reason.
I just nodded and made my way into the office.
...
After settling into the new office. I began going through files and I must say. The HR department of this company was totally useless. It was like there was no HR department in the first place.

The sales in this place also weren't how a normal business' sales were supposed to be. With the money that this company made. I wonder how they managed to pay there workers. And that left me wondering if I wouldn't be paid. But I'm sure that the workers were paid, otherwise that Stella wouldn't be here. Right?
The phone suddenly rang. I quickly picked it up.
"Hello. This is Elena from Parkers &Co, how may I be of assistance today?" I so tried to sound sweet.
"Hi, this is Annabelle, Mr McCartney's PA from McCartney Textiles. I just called to confirm if the meeting at eleven with Mr Parker is still on." She said sounding very cheerful. She was definitely those permanently happy people.
"Yes. We will be expecting you at eleven." Here I am saying this and I don't even know if my boss will show up today.
"Great! See you then Elena."
"See you and thanks for calling." I hung up.
I glanced at the wall and saw that it was already 10:23. I decided to check if the boss was here. Maybe he'd already come and Stella didn't bother informing me.
I made my way out and saw that Stella wasn't at her station.
The floor that we're on is very quiet so I couldn't tell if people on the other floors have already arrived or not.
I knocked on the CEO's door but I got no response.
After knocking for a while I just opened the door and saw that no one was inside.
I turned and just as I was about to get into my office I heard a door slam open and I looked back startled.
I saw a round man with a forming pot belly. He had black hair that was slowly turning silver. He was forcefully tucking in his shirt and trying to ease out the creases.
Nothing about him was fascinating, what was fascinating though was the fact that Stella was right behind him wiping her lips.
I didn't wanna judge or think bad of them but I'm pretty sure that whatever they were doing something illegal.
"Good morning Mr Parker, I'm Elena Parke your new PA." I said when I was in front of him.
He walked up even closer to me, definitely popping my personal space bubble. His eyes were all over my body.
He looked at me in such a way that he made me wanna get in a bath tub and scratch all the dirt away from my body.
"Hello sweetheart. I'm sure we'll have a pleasant time working together. No?" He said trailing a finger on the side of my face to he reached underneath my chin and made me look at him.
This guy was like literally my height. If I were to wear heels I'd be taller than him.
Not liking his fingers in me. I took a step backwards.
"I hope so sir." I said trying my best to not scowl.
"I'm sure we will. And I'll make sure that Stella teaches you all that I like and don't like." He said with a grin on his face.
Uhm ewwwww. Thank you for making me feel even more grossed out by myself. I feel like he gave me an infection just by looking at me like that.
"I'm very sure that I'll adapt to the work here easily and I'll only consult Stella if I need help. And Mr Parker you have a meeting at eleven with McCartney Textiles. Now if you'll please excuse me. I'll go set up the board room." I said while giving them a weird smile and turned to go to the break room to get some water.
After setting up the board room. I checked the time and saw I only had three minutes before clock hit eleven.
I quickly went to freshen up and just as I left the washroom I heard the elevator ding. I looked and saw a man with a short smiling woman next to him. Definitely Annabelle.
I smiled and approached them.
"You must be Mr McCartney and Annabelle." I said handshaking them.
"Yes. And I'm guessing you are Mr Parkers new assistant?" Mr McCartney asked
"Yes sir. I'll lead you guys to the board room. Right this way." I said.
After directing them to the board room I went to call Mr Parker.
"Come in." I heard after knocking
I walked in and saw Mr Parker looking at some documents.
"Mr Parker your eleven o clock is here. They're in the board room waiting for you." I said.
He smiled at me then nodded and got up.
I left his office and entered my own to get my notepad and pen. Then followed after him.

I learned that I could overcome those limitations. I wanted to bring that hope and healing to others. Activities like that make life meaningful and bring me joy. The reasons why I was suicidal in 2019 were set in motion in 2000 when a meteor would come crashing down upon the life that I had built leaving me powerless to do anything other than watching everything burn to ashes - the home that I had, the life I had known, the love I had, my career, everything would disappear almost as if it never existed. In that one the year 2000, I could not imagine things could get any worse. But the nightmare would continue for the next few years... culminating in a suicide attempt in 2019. Now, I am connecting with others, building relationships, and finding a reason to live again. I am writing my own story of my life. I will fight against the injustice of the past and offer my gifts to the world. I have so much to offer. I have quite a story to tell. I hope you will help me to move on with my life.
