CARTER'S POV

I watched as Callan came jumping through the portal and landed with a thump on his feet just in front of me.

"Woo, what a rush, right?" He laughed, shaking off his sudden adrenaline. "Let's fuck this shit up."

"All in good time," I said, keeping my eyes on the portal waiting for my girl to come through. "Where are they? What is taking him so long?" I said impatiently. Bloody Jake is always messing around and wasting my damn time. "Where are they?" I yelled, losing my temper as I watched the portal.

"Jake is probably doing his hair or chatting up a rock or something. They'll be here." Callan said, hitting my arm playfully.

I was about to hit him back twice as hard, but I stopped as Jake came flying through the portal, alone. My whole body froze as a sudden feeling came over me. What is this sensation running through my body? It's not anger. I know what anger feels like. Could it possibly be fear?

"Where is she?" I bellowed running to Jake who was sliding into a huge rock. "Jacob, where is Ebony?"

"Holy shit boss, I think the portal closed or something? She was right behind me, holding my hand and then she was gone. I swear I didn't let her go." he yelled, jumping up and running back to the now-closed portal.

"SHE WAS LEFT BEHIND?" I yelled with pure rage. This strange feeling is calling to me, and it's taking over my body and my mind. I turned around and grabbed Jake by the collar of his shirt, lifting him. "YOU LEFT HER IN THAT WORLD ALONE?" I yelled in his face and threw him down on the ground.

"Boss, I don't know what happened. I would never hurt Eb. Never." he said sliding back away from me on the ground.

"Fuck, we need to get back to her. Find another portal NOW!" I bellowed so loud the trees around us shook and birds were suddenly flying with fear.

"I'm sorry boss; I swear I didn't let her go. It closed right behind me. I'll get her back, I'll find a portal, and I'll get her back." Jake stood up with his hand in front of him. "I'll find her," he ran towards the location of another portal.

"I'll check the one by the river but father you need to find Leon. Jake and I will deal with this." Callan said, walking backwards.

"I'm not leaving Ebony there. I'll move this planet before I walk away from her," I growled clenching my fists. I can feel her, she is calling for me. She is scared and I feel her fear in my heart.

"You need to find mother, or I guarantee you that you will never see Ebony again. We will get her and meet you back at the house. You need to go." Callan said sternly. "She is a strong girl, and she will survive, but you need to as well."

"I can't just walk away from her when she needs me, son. I can hear her voice in my head; she needs me to help her. I can feel her tears; she is weeping for me to come to her."

"You have to find mother, or you will die as well, father. We will find Ebony; she is our friend. I will make sure she is safe, go find Leon."

"She is still at the portal. She is waiting for me. Go, get her to safety." I yelled at Callan.

He just nodded, turned around and ran for the river.

I yelled out with frustration as I thought about my beautiful sunshine alone and scared in that horrible world and before I could stop, I found myself howling loudly, letting the wolf inside of me out and obstructing the fear in my heart. My hunger for her love grew and consumed me as I thought about her calling out my name. She needs me.

My ears pricked up when I heard a wolf howling back at me from the darkness of the woods. I knew who it was straight away, and he was close, and he was ready for me.

"I thought it was going to be harder to find you but thank you. You just made a horrible night a little better. I feel like hurting someone right now, and you will do nicely." I growled through my fangs.

"I knew you would return," Leon said from the darkness. "Now that your little human is as good as dead. You have nothing to fight for anymore." he laughed deeply.

"What did you do to her?" I yelled.

"Oh, I didn't do a thing to the pretty human. That one is not my fight."

"Where is Genevieve?" I clenched my fists so tightly that I felt my nails dig into my hand.

He laughed loudly. "Why don't you ask your human?"

"I'm not fucking around with you Leon, open that portal or I will end you where you stand."

"I'd like to see you try Big Brother." Leon taunted me from the shadows.

"It doesn't have to end this way, Leon; open the portal and I will be lenient on you. The girl had nothing to do with this."

"Oh, but she does Carter. You have always been the better Morgan in our family. You were stronger, and you were smarter, and you always got everything you ever wanted but now, finally, after all these years, you have a weakness."

"Leave. Her. Alone." I growled as I felt my body changing. "If she is hurt, I will make your death more painful than it has to be."

"She's as good as dead," Leon roared as he ran towards me.

"I'm going to end you." I bellowed charging at my brother with everything I had.

EBONY'S POV

"Carter, please," I wept as I fell to my knees. "Don't leave me here, please," my head fell to my hands, and I cried with pure fear. "Please don't leave me here." I wailed feeling weak and tired. He won't leave me here; I know he won't.

"Hello," a gentle voice said behind me. "Are you lost?"

I turned to see a well-dressed, tall, blue-eyed vampire standing behind me. He was cute in a boy next door sort of way as his hair fell over his pale young-looking face. He looked at me with concern in his bright blue eyes.

"Please, don't hurt me! "I whimpered scurrying away on the ground.

"I'm not going to hurt you little one. You are human, yes? I'm assuming you are lost. I can help you," he said smiling. "My name is Henry, what is yours?"

My back crashed into a tree, and I curled up into a ball. Carter, please help me.

"Hey, it's ok. I'm not going to hurt you. I just want to return you to your owner," he said gently again. "This is a dangerous place for a human to be without their master. Let me help you."

"Why are you being nice to me?" I cried out, still curled up in my safety ball.

"Because you need help. I just want to help you. You must be terrified, did your owner dump you in the forest?" He knelt beside me.

"No, " I shook my head. "The portal, it disappeared or something and Carter went through but I got stuck. He will return for me, he will."

"Carter? Is your master Carter Morgan?"

I nodded "I live with Carter and Callan, and they will be back for me." I said wiping my tears.

"They went through the portal you say?"

"Yes."

"Ok, I understand. I know Carter, and I can help you find him but ...."

"Oh, there she is, she is always escaping from me, " I heard another voice say in the shadows. "Such a naughty girl."

We both turned to see a woman with blonde hair and brown eyes. I know those brown eyes; they are the same eyes as Callan's. Genevieve.

"Oh, I'm sorry. I just found her in the forest and she was terrified poor little thing." Henry said, standing up.

"No, that's not my master. That's Genevieve, please don't let her near me." I yelled at Henry.

"Genevieve? Genevieve Morgan is dead little one. You must be confused."

"She has this strange obsession with the Morgans. Did she tell you that Carter Morgan was her owner?" Genevieve threw her head back and laughed.

"She did," Henry said, staring at Genevieve puzzled.

"Please, you have to believe me. She wants to kill me. I belong to the Morgan's, ask Harriet Cooper. This woman is lying." I yelled standing up. I knew if I ran right now, she would catch me. No human can outrun a vampire.

"She is a little crazy I'm afraid. She gets away all the time and I need to discipline her more." Genevieve said glaring at me.

"I'm sorry, what did you say your name was?" Henry said to her.

"My name? Oh sorry, I thought I gave it to you your highness. Apologies, I didn't recognise you. My name is Anna ... Anna Cartwright your highness," she bowed her head at Henry.

Your highness?

"Nice to meet you, Anna," he looked back at me, and I shook my head pleading with him to not leave me with her. "Well, I'm sorry Anna, but I just can't let you take this pet without clearing this up with Carter. I do apologise for the inconvenience, but this girl will be coming with me today. I do hope you understand." he said smiling at her.

"Your highness, I don't mean to sound rude, but I must insist that the girl comes with me. She is insane and needs my attention at once," she said walking toward me.

"Are you defying my word, Anna?" He said stepping in her path. "Because defying a member of the royal family is a call for treason and you will be put to death by my very hand."

"No, of course not your highness. I just don't want to burden you with this mess of a human. I'm sure you have better things to do than watch this pet." she tried to push past him again.

"The girl is mine, end of the story," he said sternly. "I suggest you go back to your home and wait for me to be in touch."

"Your highness, I understand," she glared at me from under her blonde wig. "I look forward to hearing from you." she turned and walked away into the Forest.

"You are safe now," Henry said, turning back to me. "I can get you out of here and somewhere safe, but you are going to have to trust me, " he said holding out his hand. "I will not hurt you."

"Why did you just do that?" I wiped tears from my face.

"Because I may be a vampire, but I know the look of fear in something's eyes when I see it. I don't know what is going on, but I know that you need help." he took a step toward me. "I can help you, or you can stay in the woods and take your chances with Anna over there." he shrugged.

I took a deep breath and nodded my head. "Ebony, my name is Ebony Summers," I said, reaching for his hand.

"It's nice to meet you, Ebony, my name is Henry Vander lack or as some vampires prefer to call me, Prince Henry."

"You're a prince?" I gasped out.

"Yes, it's a pleasure to meet you Ebony." he smiled helping me off the ground.
