《Lucifer King》Up in the Sky

An endless amount of fiery land spread underneath us as we flew over rocks and mountains. Smoke and hot air were emitting from everywhere, going up in the air and hitting us with full force. The bright orange magma that was running in between the rocks was glowing brightly lighting up the whole place with a soft, yellow glow.

The view would be terrifying if I ever found myself alone in here. But flying over this place, with Lucifer's hands holding me tightly against him while the only sounds I heard was the air whistling against my ears, the slight 'swoosh' sound that Lucifer's wings made, and his steady heartbeat, gave a certain glamour to this terror that was spreading endlessly underneath us.

My hands were resting against Lucifer's broad shoulders, my chest and stomach were glued to his because of his tight hold on my torso. His legs seemed to be in total control as he flew over the rocky mountains and dove back towards the ground, while mine just dangled around like fish out of water due to my lack of muscle control.

Well, this is my first time flying, so who can blame me?

I didn't really know how much time has passed since we first came here but I also didn't care. At first, I was scared that I might fall and break every bone in my body as I desperately clung to Lucifer's body, clawing at him and telling him to put me down, but he assured me that nothing would happen to me, whispering in my ear that he would never let me go.

I sensed the double meaning in his words but I didn't comment on it.

After that, neither of us spoke. We just enjoyed the silence, the hot air hitting our faces and each other's touch as we looked beneath us, admiring the lands. I caught him numerous times staring at me as I looked around, and he wouldn't turn away once I would notice. His eyes would just glow when we made eye contact and warmth would fill my body.

I glanced at his large wings for the hundredth time, admiring their beauty as they were moving with such grace. Swift, slow moves. Shiny black feathers were gleaming and shaking slightly as the air blew in between them.

Now that I was more relaxed against Lucifer's body, I let go of his shoulder, knowing well that his grip on my waist would stay put, and I reached over his back. Full of curiosity and eagerness, my fingertips softly touched the main bone that was holding the wings together, stroking it.

Lucifer tensed for a split second and his right wing flexed, making us sway a little to the left. I immediately retreated my hand and gripped his shoulder tightly, digging my nails on the fabric of his shirt as I screeched in fear of falling. But Lucifer steadied us before I could even think about it.

"Sorry, I didn't mean to scare you" I glanced up at his face and he instantly looked down at me. The air was blowing on the back of my head, my hair flying all over the place, but never breaking our eye contact. He slightly smirked at me as he glanced in front of us again, as we flew over a lake of magma.

"It's fine. You can touch them if you want" He said simply, as I admired his face that looked impeccable even from this unflattering angle.

I looked back at his wings that moved graciously and extended my hand, palming the soft feathers. It was as if I was touching silk, so smooth and velvety.

I always wanted wings. My biggest dream was to have wings and be able to fly above the cities and the clouds. Be able to feel the wind brush over your face and to inhale the fresh air as you watch the lives of multiple people unfold underneath you.

Here in Greece, we don't have Halloween but we have a Carnival in February that we can dress up in costumes and go out to have fun with friends. When I was little, I used to dress either like an angel, a demon, a fairy, or a butterfly so that I could have wings in my costume. Dad would hold me up and run in the streets so that I could feel like I was flying.

And every time I looked at Lucifer's magnificent wings, all those wonderful memories would come back to me. That's why I loved admiring them and couldn't take my eyes off of them.

I softly stroked the ebony-colored feathers, as I watched the wings, that stretched a few meters away from us due to their size. My fingers run through the feathers, up to the main bone, and traced towards the point where they were attached to Lucifer's body. His linen shirt was teared up around the base of his wings, two huge holes forming on the back of the shirt.

As Lucifer took a dive into the air, going faster than before, I moved the fabric away to see how the wings were attached to his back. My eyes widened as I saw the skin of his back being stretched over the base of the wings, as small little feathers were covering it. It looked like a continuation of his body, like two limbs growing out of his back, with baby feathers starting a few centimeters away from his back.

I delicately traced his stretched skin with my fingertips and I sensed him tense up again but in a different way. His grip tightened against my waist and he adjusted me, bringing my body upward, my chest touching the base of his neck. His speed quickened as he rose in the air again, after coming closer to the ground.

"Do you wanna have sex in the air?" He asked me, as his scorching hand dove inside my shirt and grazed my bare stomach. I stopped tracing his back with my fingers and my body tensed against his.

"W-What?"I replied dumbfounded, without looking away from his wings.

An image of us fucking in the air, half-naked bodies glued together in every way possible, as Lucifer's wings kept us high in the sky passed through my mind, immediately fueling my hunger for him.

But is he seriously asking me that? Or is he joking? But why would he joke about this?

I shouldn't... I really shouldn't say yes... But the thought is so tempting...

"Y-"

"If not, then stop doing that with your pretty little fingers. It's doing much more than you think it does..." He interrupted me without even noticing, as he continued to fly high in the sky.

I snatched my fingers away from his back as if burned, and I clasped my mouth shut as I realized that he wasn't serious. I felt heat rushing to my face and I was sure that I looked like a tomato, so I hid my face from Lucifer, looking over his shoulder and placing my chin on his shoulderblade. My heartbeat accelerated as I tried to get the now embarrassing thought off my head.

Of course, he was fucking joking Eli! God, how embarrassing... What if he heard me? Oh no... that would be worse. Thank the whole fucking universe that he interrupted me before the "yes" flew out my mouth...

"If you keep thinking about it, I might as well do it, Eli" As the words flew out of his mouth my eyes opened as wide as they could, and all the blood in my body rushed to my cheeks, my ears burning from the embarrassment that I was feeling.

Ah fuck.

If we weren't two hundred meters off the ground I would flee right at this moment. Instead, I hid my face, shut my eyes, and tried to forget it ever happened.

"Do you want to try something different?" He asked after a while, as I continued to look over his shoulders.

"Shouldn't we go back?" I asked softly, knowing that he heard me.

"We have endless time but we can head back after that" He answered and I thought about it. I nodded against his shoulder and rose my head, looking at his face after what seemed to be hours. He took a sharp turn towards the sky, giving two huge shoves with his wings, and we flew up faster than ever, going several hundred meters above the ground.

"What do you mean by different?" I asked and glanced at his blue eyes. I frowned at him as I saw the evil glint inside his eyes and the small smirk on his face before the world came crashing down around me.

I let out an ear-piercing scream as Lucifer's grip on my waist disappeared, letting my body slip away and fall, diving directly towards the ground.

We were very high in the air and as I watched the black rocks coming closer, I kept screaming my lungs out as my throat burned and my eyes watered. Several stray strands of my hair were flopping around, slapping my face as I kept falling and falling and falling.

Come on, Lucifer! We said no games!, I screamed at him through our mind link.

The terror inside me increased by the second as I was getting dangerously close to the ground. I felt my body stopping abruptly about a hundred meters above the ground, as two strong hands gripped me from my hips. I doubled over and my body curled around Lucifer's strong arms as he flew horizontally.

"Don't worry my mate... I said I won't let you go"He chuckled at me and adjusted me in his arms, holding me tightly by the waist, as I tried to stable my breathing and my wild heartbeats. I felt like I was having a heart attack as I kept looking at the ground below me. My lips were trembling and my hand was clutching my heart tightly, fearing that it would burst any minute now.

"You literally JUST DID LET ME GO, MATE!" I screamed at him as I threw my hand back, slapping his arms numerous times as he laughed at me. "Fuck off!" I shouted at him after a few minutes of slapping and hitting.

"You knew that there was no chance that I would let you touch the ground right?" He chuckled at me like it was the simplest thing ever.

"Um, excuse me but have you heard of a fucking heart attack?"I shouted at him angrily again, seething and trying to calm my beating heart.

"Yes, I have. Actually, I have caused some myself." He said proudly and I almost choked on my own spit, leaning my head to the side so I could look up at him. He glanced down and smiled at my shocked face."Now, little demon, straighten your body and don't slump like a rug" I scoffed.

"Fuck you" I whispered underneath my breath, but I did as he told me to. I brought my torso horizontally, in a parallel line to Lucifer's body, but left my feet dangling free. Once I looked up, my breath was caught in my throat.

Woah...

"I knew you would like it, "He said, trying to hide his excitement, but I could hear his smile in his voice. "Spread your arms wide, Eli. Trust me" He whispered at me. My hands were glued to his arms, holding onto them for dear life. I started to relax my fists and slowly brought my hands to my sides as the wind was pushing my hair back and the hot air was hitting my face giving me a sense of freedom.

With a small tremble, I slowly and carefully spread my arms, feeling the strength of the wind pushing against them. I gasped as Lucifer gave two or three tugs with his huge wings, gaining immense speed in seconds. Going faster than ever before, ripping through the air and flying high in the sky, above lakes and dark mountains, without a care in the world, I felt like I was free.

Free of everything. Myself included.

The speed, the wind, the silence, Lucifer's hands on my waist, and the face-splitting smile that I had on my mouth that physically pained my cheeks, was everything I wanted right at this moment. Nothing less, nothing more.

After what seemed like hours of flying like that and going up and down, I felt my body being pulled up. I felt the lack of Lucifer's hand on my waist and I immediately became alarmed as Lucifer threw me up in the air in front of him, spun me around, and grabbed me again so that I was now facing him.

I gasped loudly as I landed on his embrace again, his strong arms tightening around my waist, colliding our bodies as he brought my face closer to his. His bright scarlet eyes were burning holes through my skull, looking past the surface of my mind and directly into my soul, lighting me up like he just flicked a lighter on.

I gulped as I stared back at him, adrenaline pumping in my veins and fueling my need to do something irrational and unpredictable.

So I leaned in, close to his lips, and as courage passed through me like lightning, I kissed the right side of his mouth, barely missing his lips. I felt the corner of his lips go stiff for a few seconds and relax before I retrieved and laid my head on his shoulder, hiding my face in the crook of his neck.

I inhaled softly, taking in the intoxicating smell that was as unique as him. He radiated the aroma of pure fire; not smoke, but fire. Pure, untouched, burning fire. Sinful.

"Don't hurt me" I whispered against his neck, my lips slightly grazing the soft skin while I continued to breathe in his smell.

We sat like that for a while, the wings moving steadily behind his back, keeping us steady and unmoving in the air while Lucifer held my body close to his as I relaxed safely in his arms.

I knew that my actions were oxymorons. First, I yell at him and scold him and say that I hate him, then I can't stop thinking about him and I find myself caring about him. The one second, I explain to him how badly he fucked my life up, and then the next second I kiss him and fly with him, letting myself be carried away by his charm.

My actions are almost opposites when it comes to him. And I blame the mate bond because if that didn't exist, I would be bat shit crazy to stay in such a toxic and hurtful relationship. I can't stay away from him because it hurts like hell, and I can't come too close because it hurts as much.

And I'm torn between running as far away from as I can and staying with him to try this whole mate thing. Should I run? Can I run? Should I give it a try? Will he stop hurting me every time I come too close? Will our bond turn out to be something positive for both of us? Or will it only benefit him because it will make him stronger?

As the smoke and the hot atmosphere around us started making me uncomfortable, I started shifting against Lucifer's scorching body, before he spoke making me freeze.

"Don't leave me" He said with such a strong voice, making it seem like an order. But when I looked up at his face, looking through his bright irises and his dilated pupils, I knew it wasn't like that.

Actually, it wasn't an order at all. It was a request... but knowing Lucifer, he would never ask for something like that. Because the Devil doesn't have to ask for anything, he does what he wants.

This is how Lucifer showed that he cared. I had finally realized what his stone-cold face, his authoritative voice, and his commands meant. He wanted to show me that he cared and that he was here to protect me from every threat that comes to me.

And he has said it before, in some way..."You're mine as much as I am yours"

His possessiveness didn't mean that he wanted me as his pet, to own me and command me. He was trying to tell me that I'm his to protect, that it's his responsibility to keep me safe.

What he doesn't know is how to say it, how to behave, and how to show me that he cares about me and my safety. And I can't blame him. Being ruthless, mean, and cold-blooded is what he knows best, that's what he knew all his life and a few interactions with a human won't change that. In addition to that, I wasn't really helpful... saying such mean things to him when I knew that he was my mate, saying that I hated him... while I, myself didn't believe it.

Don't put all the blame on you, Eli, Kara softly said to me after what seemed like ages. Everyone knew that it would be hard for both of you to adjust to this situation. A human and the strongest, most merciless angel to ever exist. You couldn't possibly think that it would be all lovey-dovey, hugs, and kisses. Love means compromise, struggle, and sacrifice.

But I don't think that I love him, nor does he...

Yet, Kara said firmly.

I focused on Lucifer's face again, looking deep into his eyes, watching the flames flare up and swirl around his pupils as he intently watched me. I brought my hand up to his face and softly traced with two fingers across his razor-sharp cheekbones, bringing down at the corner of his mouth.

"I won't" I answered him honestly, never looking away from his eyes. His whole face shifted from a beaten look to a surprised one, as the flames burned brighter inside his blood-red irises.

"I won't leave you, Lucifer," I repeated, in case he needed verification of my words. I could see the shadow of a smile on his lips, that wanted to form so badly, but he kept it back, hidden from me.

Feeling more comfortable around him, I relaxed against his arms, leaning back like I was floating in the nonexistent clouds and I let out a small laugh to break this unbearable affectionate tension that has built up in between us.

"I loved flying but let's go back now, I have work to do back home" I lied, hoping that he wouldn't see through my lies.

"Yes, I have work too," He said seriously and adjusted me in his arms, bringing me closer again before I felt the lung-crushing sensation that I feel every time we transport. I gasped from the sudden pain in my insides as we landed on the entrance of Hell.

He took my hand in his as he set me down on my feet, and I sensed his irritation attack me in waves before I even looked up at him.

"Where's your ring?"He asked annoyed as his eyes darkened, looking down at my bare fingers.

"Oh shit... I don't know. I was wearing it before..." I said confused as I looked around our feet, in case it dropped now. "I must have lost it while we were flying..." I trailed off and then looked up at him. His eyebrows were furrowed and he was throwing daggers at my fingers.

"Take mine for now, and I will make you a new one," He said angrily as he took off his chain. He went to quickly put it on me but I grabbed his arms, stopping him.

"What about you? How are you going to exit and re-enter?" I asked him seriously, looking up at him. He chuckled.

"Little demon, I don't need it... I'm the King of Hell, why would I need the key to my Kingdom?" He snorted as he said mockingly. But now I was furious.

"Then, why the hell did you thrash my room and beat me black and blue when I accidentally took it?!" I shouted at his face, slightly shaking his arms, in which I was digging my nails.

He leaned down, coming face to face with me as he looked me dead in the eye with the straightest face.

"I don't like thieves." He said with his deep and rough voice, sending chills down my spine and lighting up my core. I clenched my lower abdomen and I gulped, nodding slightly at him, knowing damn well what would happen if he got angry.

I looked away from him and I let go of his arms, letting him place the necklace around my neck. He threw it on me and then softly pulled at my hair, releasing it from the chain.

"Let's go," He said and leaned down to hug my body so the transportation wouldn't hurt as much. We went through the vortex and after a moment we were standing on the edge of the port's dock.

I gasped and breathed in deeply, but before I could even catch my breath, Lucifer transported us to my house. I didn't prepare for the impact and I couldn't help but groan at the painful feeling that was squeezing my insides every time we transported somewhere.
