《Lucifer King》Fear and Danger

As Hades walked through Hell with me on his shoulders, screams of pain and yells of despair could be heard from every cell we passed. A million cages could be seen, the one next to the other. All of the cages had the same heated orange bars on them, giving a slow glow to our surroundings.
I didn't really know what creatures were hiding in the shadows of every cell but I was pretty sure they weren't only human. Animalistic growls and groans, cynical laughter, and rough voices sounded all around me.
As I was being carried, I didn't even try fighting Hades, for the obvious reasons.
He's the Lord of the Underworld. Do I need to say more?
But also I was extremely tired and I realized that it was useless to resist, because I was too weak here. The heat emitting from every single thing in this place, the dry atmosphere, my open wounds, and the scratches that covered my whole body were tiring me out more and more each passing second.
I have to do something to get out of here, and away from him, I thought to myself as I watch the ground underneath me move.
Call Lucifer, my subconscious spoke up again.
No.
What if I repeat the word Christo? It seemed to hurt him.
It doesn't hurt that bad. It's just a stinging sensation. But you can try, go ahead, my subconscious mocked me and snorted.
"Christo" I whispered slightly, trying it. Hades' grip on my waist tightened suddenly and he stopped working. I felt my body being pulled backward and in a second, he had me in front of him, holding me by my waist with both hands like I was a child and he was scolding me.
"Are you stupid?" He asked with an annoyed tone laced in his voice. I furrowed my eyebrows at him and tried to think of a way to escape his grip.
I raised both my legs and pressed my feet down on his stomach, pushing back with all my power. I screamed unconsciously as I kicked him hard.
I stopped and looked at him, who was staring at me like I was the dumbest thing in the world.
Think, Eli!
I yelled "Christo" again and I kicked at the same time, forcing him to flinch and let me go. My body flew backward and from all the body parts that I could have landed on, I, of course, landed on my head.
My head hit the ground harshly and I could swear that I heard Hell's bells ringing inside my mind. A groan escaped my lips as pain rushed through my head, my hands quickly palming my skull.
I felt the hot liquid on my palms and I groaned again, mentally slapping me for my stupidness. I retrieved my hands and looked down at them. Apparently, I had four hands and about 40 fingers. All I saw was blurred bloodied fingers and black spots here and there.
"Fuck" I heard Hade's faint voice and I looked up at him, as the spots grew and invaded my vision. My head was ringing loudly as I tried to recall the number of times I hit my head and didn't crack my skull in the last 24 hours.
I looked down at my bloody fingers again and started counting.
"1...2...10...23" I whispered to myself, sticking out a finger at a time.
What are you doing?, my subconscious asked me dumbfounded, but her voice was blurred out.
"Don't pass out." I heard his voice again and I felt my body being lifted from the heated rocks. Hades held me up by the waist as I looked up at his face. "If they smell fresh blood, you're done" He whispered more to himself.

"You...are...uhh....terrifying-" I said and touched his cheekbone, clearly out of my mind.
What the hell are you doing?
He ignored me as his eyes examined my head.
"-ly handsome." I quickly added as I squinted my eyes to watch his face in between the black spots. His bright yellow eyes immediately caught mine and his lips twitched upwards into a satisfied smirk. My fingers trailed down to his lips and I moved my head closer to his.
The slight movement of my head caused extreme pain in my skull and everything turned black, as my head hanged forward, in between my shoulders.

Did I pass out again?
You sure did, my subconscious answered.
Where am I now? It doesn't feel that hot... Am I home?
At the thought of home, my eyes snapped open in a heartbeat.
Darkness. Again...
I pushed myself up to a sitting position and my hands touched the soft fabric underneath me. I looked down at where I was sitting and I noticed a big mattress, with a sheet draped over my body.
Wait, this doesn't seem right. Am I still in Hell? There are beds in Hell? Do people sleep in Hell?
Yes, the voice in my head said.
With a growing headache and an aching body, I looked up inspecting the place. There was a faint white glow that illuminated the room, allowing me to detect my surroundings. Once my eyes adjusted to the darkness, I could make out the outline of the room.
I was laying on a huge bed with black sheets. To my right, there was a wall mirror besides two huge doors, which looked like they were made of steel. A fireplace was sitting in front of me and a small wooden nightstand on my left.
I looked down and felt the soft sheets that I was currently laying on. With the move of my hand, a metallic sound erupted from my right making me jump.
I brought my hand in front of me and inspected the metallic bracelet around my wrist. I followed the chain attached to it only to see that it ended on another bracelet around my ankle.
"Did he seriously chain me on myself? How smart." I snorted and let my hand fall to the bed. I glanced down at my lap, shaking my head, and what I saw made my eyes pop out of their sockets.
"What the fuck!" I shouted out once I realized that I was completely, one hundred percent naked. I brought my hand to my chest to cover myself, tugging at the chain.
Suddenly the chain lit up, a bright blue light blinding me. I felt the chain pulling my hand and a hoop magically disappeared, shortening the chain. I looked bewildered at the chain as the light died down and tried to process what just happened, forgetting the fact I was butt naked.
"What kind of sorcery is this?" I whispered to myself and I pulled at the chain again.
The light came back and another hoop disappeared.
Stop pulling you dumb human, my subconscious scoffed.
Does it get shorter every time I tug at it?
Well obviously, she says, scolding me.
After a few minutes of me staring at the chain in shock, I shook my head, ignoring the pounding in my brain, and looked around me once again.
I have to get out of here. I can't just wait for my death. Or Hades.
Same thing, my subconscious added.
Can you shut up for a second? Lately, you have been very chatty. Just shut up, please!

I slowly moved towards the end of the bed, careful not to tug at the chain again. I placed my hand on my knee and gripped it tightly so the chain was loose. Without letting my knee out of my grip, I stood up, my feet hitting the floor. I looked back to the bed and started pulling at the sheets with my left hand.
Once I got the sheets I tried to wrap them over my naked and scarred body, to cover myself up. I accidentally tugged at the chain and the light appeared once again.
"Oh come on!" I scoffed at the chain, pissed. It was now too short to allow me to stand straight and walk properly.
Okay, we're still good... I got this! Let's get out of here.
I looked around the room for a way out and my eyes fell to a huge metallic door beside the wall mirror. I noticed my reflection as I got closer.
My hair was disheveled and dirty, my face had scratches everywhere, my hands too. The exposed skin on my legs was covered by a million cuts with dried blood and dirt. I looked like I went through Hell and back.
Except I'm still here...
My head still throbbed violently from the impact, my body ached all over and my muscles were weakened. My back hurt like hell from bowing down and I felt like I haven't slept in a million years.
I was terrified to be completely honest. What am I doing here? Am I still alive? Will I ever go back? What about my friends...my dad...
Oh my God! My dad will be worried sick! He can't lose me too...
I sensed my eyes sting and water forming inside my eyelids, in the corners of my eyes. I wiped the stray tear that escaped while I made eye contact with my reflection one last time before I reached for the door handle.
With my free hand, I grabbed the metallic hoop and pulled. And I pulled. And I pulled some more.
I sighed and tried the other hoop, but to no avail.
"Well, what now?" I sighed and groaned as my muscles hurt from the pulling.
Try again, my subconscious said softly.
I furrowed my eyebrows, thinking and breathing heavily, already feeling tired.
I brought my chained foot and placed it on the right door. I grabbed the left hoop with both of my hands and pulled with all my strength. I could feel the sweat forming on my forehead as I pulled and growled at the door.
Eek.
"Holy shit!" I whisper-yelled stunned when the door moved. "I did it!"
Half an inch, but hey, it's better than nothing.
"Ahh!" I let out a shout as I pulled again at the hoop. The doors opened slightly and the other side was revealed, extreme heat hitting my face. I immediately inched back and when it stopped I took a look. I peeped through the middle and all I could see was the rocky black wall and a torch that hangs from the wall.
So, I'm still in Hell.
A little disappointed, I pulled again and again at the heavy doors until there was enough space to get through.
I cautiously peeked through the doors, looking both ways for any movement. The corridor seemed endless and empty. There was no sound coming from anywhere. All I could hear was my heart beating inside my chest and the soft puffs of air that left my mouth.
Carefully I stepped outside of the room, my hand still gripping my knee. Once I was out I looked left and right, trying to see if there was a sign of an exit. Since the whole thing was identical, I decided to go right and I started walking slowly down the corridor. There were no doors, no passages, no right turns, no left turns, no nothing.
What is this place?
I think you're in Hades' realm. Legends have it, no one has ever seen this place. If that's the case, you're very lucky Eli, my subconscious said mockingly. Reach out to Lucifer before Hades sucks your soul out of your body.
Okay, how the fuck do I know that?
What do you mean?, she asked innocently.
I mean, how the hell do I learn new information about Lucifer and Hades from my very own subconscious? I didn't know anything about these two and you seem to know everything, I thought to myself as I kept limping to what seemed to be an endless corridor.
Well, I think I masked myself pretty good all these years, she sighed. And you already are 18 and you have met Lucifer, so I'm basically nothing new. I think it's time for you to find out more about yourself.
I froze when the voice in my head sifted to a more mature and deep voice. My brain stopped working. My legs stopped working. Everything stopped working.
What?
You're so naïve Eli, she sighed. But how would you know? I'm not exactly you. I'm just a part of you.
Are you trying to tell me that you're not me? You're not the voice of my own thoughts?, I asked. How the fuck is that even possible?
I'm someone better. Someone more powerful. I'm like you, but smarter, faster, and eviler. I know more than you do, I can do more than you can, I know how to handle situations better than you do. You're just a plain'ol human. A dumb one may I add.
There you go again, calling me human. What are you? And why are you in my head?
Because I'm better than a human. Humans are pathetic... I'm much more powerful than a simple mortal. As of what I am? Not of big importance now. I'm here to guide you and help you survive.
I seized walking a while ago as I listened to a woman's voice inside my head. A creature is inside my head? Is that possible? How the fuck didn't I know? What in the world is happening in my life?
My head was burning from all the questions popping up inside my mind and haunting me. I snapped out of my haze and looked ahead of me. I don't have time to process this right now.
"I don't have time for this shit. You're not going anywhere so I might as well get us out of here first." I whispered to myself and her, realizing that I spoke to her like she's a whole other person.
Well, I am, she said.
I must be going crazy.
I have to get out of here. Now.
I spot two metallic black doors in the far distance and I pick up my pace, holding my knee, half-limping, half-walking.
I heard her laugh deviously at me as I reached the doors. They are slightly open and I looked inside only to notice that it was the same room as before.
"What the hell?" I said angrily as I looked down the corridor.
The voice in my head laughed again but then immediately shut up.
"Going somewhere?" A deep voice sounded from behind me and I spun my head in its direction.
"Hades." I exhaled slowly, taking a cautious step back. He caught the movement and took a small, teasing step forward, smirking down at my pathetic attempt of running away.
"I- ah ..."
Okay, Eli focus. You're not going anywhere if you make him mad. Just make conversation and try to befriend him. Maybe he will like you and let you go.
Befriend him? Befriend Hades? The ruthless Lord of the Underworld? You must be out of your mind, she laughed again.
Shut the hell up. I answered her and glanced up at his piercing yellow eyes. He immediately made eye contact and I felt a chill running down my spine, even though the temperature in the corridor was more than 40 C degrees.
There is something about this man that makes my blood freeze and it scares me to death. He seems so deadly.
"Um Hi.." I nervously said as I searched his eyes. He was extremely tall and my position wasn't exactly advantageous. I was doubled over, with my hand on my knee as to prevent the chain from being craned and then shortened.
"Did you like your new bracelets? I think they really fit you." He said teasingly while slightly smirking down at me. Does he really have to joke around right now? Is this amusing to him?
Play along.
"Oh! Yes! I think they're wonderful! I think the design is really modern and ... unique." I smiled sweetly and shook my hand, the chain jiggling. "But I wouldn't want to scratch them or stain them so could I possibly take them off? Maybe put them somewhere safe?" I answered him sarcastically, deciding not to play dumb.
He chuckled and bowed down to look at me from a better angle. My heart started beating rapidly, my breath caught in my throat as I watched him closely. His hand reached for my face and I tried my hardest not to flinch back and show my fear.
Or your arousal, she said with a disgusted voice. Are you seriously attracted to this monster?
He stroked my cheek with his knuckles and slowly caressed his way down to my shoulders and my arm, his eyes following his hand. I didn't dare to move.
Suddenly he grabbed the chain and stood up quickly, lifting his hand high in the air. My arm and leg shoot up, following his hand, and my body hanged in the air in front of him. The light came back and the three remaining hoops of the chain disappeared, my wrist colliding with my foot. The sheet that I wrapped around my body slid down, revealing more of my cleavage and I shot my hand up, holding it in place. The pain caused by the metallic bracelets was insufferable and with my left hand, after adjusting the sheet, I grabbed his wrist to lift myself up. My muscles were completely weak and a tear rolled down my cheeks as I was shaking violently, trying to keep myself steady.
My so-called arousal was now completely gone and fear clouded over my mind, making me shake even more. My whole body was trembling and small gasps of pain left my mouth, as I struggled.
He brought me closer to his face and slowly inhaled, his eyes closing in bliss.
"Don't try to hide it. It only intensifies." His voice was deep and stranded.
"What?" I replied, my voice weak and powerless. He groaned and opened his eyes to look at me. The yellow irises pierced through mine, and his pupils dilated as he continued to smell the air around us.
"Your fear. It's addictive and smells deliciously." He sighed. "I can barely control myself around you" He groaned
As he said that he pushed me slowly to the wall, pinning me with his body. A very bright light appeared out of nowhere and the chain disappeared completely. My leg fell to the ground with a soft thud and Hades pushed his enormous body against mine. He placed his palms on either side of my head and bowed his head down, burying it in my neck.
"I don't know who are you or what are you... but you reek of fear and danger. Something's off... and that's why you're so fucking magnetic" He growled against my neck and stroked my skin with his sharp canines.
Is this the end of me? Is he gonna suck me dry and leave my body here to rot?
If you don't call Lucifer, probably. She chirped.
A whimper left my lips as I felt his cold breath against the tender skin on my neck, and although I could feel the sensation of arousal building up, at the same time I was scared shitless.
He inhaled deeply and darted out his chilly tongue, licking my neck and then biting softly the same spot. I shuddered and my eyes closed, as his two sharp fangs pricked my skin softly. A soft moan left my lips unintentionally and I gasped, my eyes opening wide at my reaction.
I felt him smile against my neck before biting down harder, his canines now fully inserted in my throat. My hands found his shoulders because my legs started to wobble and I didn't trust them to keep me steady.
"I believe the feeling is mutual." He said cockily, as he retrieved his teeth and grabbed my hips, pushing me against him. I could feel his erection against my stomach and I clenched my thighs together, as I felt the switch being turned on down there.
What the fuck is wrong with me? Fucking Hades is in front of me, sucking my blood from my neck like Damon fucking Salvatore, and I'm turned on? What? This is so wrong in so many ways!
Yes, it is, my subconscious or whoever she is, spoke up harshly. We belong to Lucifer and only he can have us.
I don't belong to anyone, and you better shut the fuck up about Lucifer because he is the reason my life is a complete mess!
"St-Stop...Please-Please, stop it..." I trailed off, not being able to control myself. In my mind, I was beyond angry at myself, but my body was speaking a language of its own.

The Emperor's Concubine
[participant in the Royal Road Writathon challenge] The heroine is good and the villainess is evil. That was the absolute truth. That rule was undeniable as well as the fact that only the heroine would receive true love and her happy ending. Likewise, the malicious villainess would always suffer and leave the stage to clear the path for the perfect heroine in the end. So, for Blanche it felt like her world came crashing around her when she remembered the truth about her life. As the villainess in the typical romance novel “To Be Empress” she was fated to be condemned and abandoned by her lover. No matter how devoted she was to Theodore Estien, the emperor of Artias, she would only be the bratty concubine that would obstruct the heroine, who happened to be Theodore's lawful wife and the empress. In the end, the villainess would be deserted and executed. It was destined to happen like this, and yet she couldn't give up. She had to change the future. Preventing the romance between the main characters would get her killed. Much like trying to steer away from the enemies' intrigues, in which she was already caught up, would. But neither the heroine nor the emperor's political rivals would change the fact that Blanche loved the man that was supposed to be the heroine's. And no matter what happened she would always stay by her lover's side. So she wouldn't just follow the book's storyline and let her own doom arrive. Blanche would survive while trying to suppress all of the selfish desires that had made her the villainess. But was she truly fine with that? Did she not desire more than just surviving? Did she even have the right? Could the villainess ask for a happy end? Was she too brazen if she just wanted to stay with the man she loved and receive his affection? And wasn't there a bit more to this novel than she remembered? She didn't know and in the end that mattered little when the world around her changed with each day as more and more questions about the future and the past arose. "The Emperor's Concubine" will be updated thrice a week (usually on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays) *The Profanity tag was added due to the characters' occasional swearing, which should not happen too often.
