I was very nervous. I couldn't really explain why, I'd been waiting for this. If anything I should be beyond happy. Not that I wasn't happy, I was just, more nervous than happy at the moment. I stood in the elevator which seemed to inch upward towards his pent house, going at the slowest pace possible, and felt butterflies in my stomach.
I smoothed my palm down my dress one last time and gazed at my reflection in the clean, metallic doors of the elevator. It was a simple, navy blue dress, that had lace detailing in the shoulders and fit around my waist snuggly. I had forced myself into a pair of black stilettos, because I wanted to feel fancy, and also because Rachael insisted they made my butt look nice.
I thought it couldn't hurt to make my butt look nice.
All too soon the ominous ding of the elevator sounded and the sleek doors slid open to reveal his penthouse.
I swallow hard and step forward into the intimidating space, taking in its full glory. A maid hurries forward at my arrival, taking my purse and shawl, before scurrying off silently to put them in some unknown coat closet I'd assume.
I'd been here a couple times before, but hadn't had the chance to take it all in. I looked around slowly, my heals clicking as I walked forward, trying not to let my jaw drop at the room I'd just entered.
Dark hard-wood floors stretched out in front of me, and the high ceiling seemed to go on upwards for what looked like miles. Modern grey and light blue furniture sat proudly in front tall glass windows, which showed an incredible view of the city with the setting sun radiating and illuminating all the magnificent buildings aglow with bright light. Long, sheer white curtains hung at opposite ends of the tall windows, and across the room from me there was a large, spiraling staircase that stopped briefly at a balcony that led to many hidden hallways and had a glass railing, and then continued upwards, disappearing into the ceiling many stories above me.
"It's too much isn't it?" asks a cool voice and I turn sharply to see Nathan walking from a hallway underneath the balcony, dressed in dark pants, crisp dress shirt and ice-blue tie.
"What." I gasp, choking on air for a moment before I speak again. "No, no, its beautiful. I mean just look at that view."
"I am." he says charmingly, looking me slowly up and down. His blond hair sat perfectly styled on his head and his blue eyes were gleaming at me.

"Don't be so cheesy." I quip at his remark, laughing a little as he comes to stand next to me.
"Couldn't help it, I like this dress you're wearing." he insists and I feel my cheeks flush as they turned pink at his words. "Come on, Antonio has prepared us something."
"Okay." I say in hushed tones and he smiles warmly at me. He leads me past the entrance and under the staircase, to the kitchen, which I remembered from being here last. There was a grand dining room, off the kitchen to the right and Nathan led me there, where he pulled out a chair for me at the head of the table and then went to the opposite end himself.
"So what did Antonio make?" I ask curiously.
"Some kind-of pasta." he says and I grin.
"Oo, good, I love pasta." I say. Moments later, Antonio appeared and he served us. Sure enough, it was penne, served in steaming bowls, with thick, spicy red sauce and a fresh loaf of Italian bread on the side. I tried to eat slowly, and politely, but the food was so good it was a struggle for me not to want to eat it all in one bite.
"So how was your day?" asks Nathan and I look up from my plate.
"Good, I basically just went to work and then came home to get ready. And now I'm here." I say smiling and he nods. "What about you?"
"It was stressful to be honest." he tells me, taking a bite of his food. "I had a lot of tough meetings and on top of that my accountant messed up the companies payments for the month, so I had to deal with that."
"Well, hopefully this evening will be less stressful than your day was." I comment and he grins at me.
"Oh I think so." he answers and we continued talking about other things, like the weather, the end of summer, which was near and also what his favorite movies were. He didn't have a lot of favorites, all though he did seem to have a thing for horror movies.
I was surprised how easy our conversations were, not that they hadn't always been, but my nerves had made me irrational. I had thought things might be very awkward or he would be stony all night long but he was in a good mood.
Eventually we ended up in his theatre room, which was as grand as the rest of his house, and we started a movie. I sat politely next to him but at some point during the film I ended up leaning into his side and his arm looped around my shoulders.

Soon the credits were rolling and I felt slightly tired, I wondered if now I would head home or if there was still more to come.
"Hmm I liked it." I say, commenting on the movie and looking up at him.
"Good." He says grinning. And I lean upward to press a gentle kiss to his lips.
Next thing I knew, I was straddling his lap as we kissed each other desperately, and his hands were exploring me. I found myself short of breath in no time and Nathan was breathing heavily too. He eventually pulls away to catch his breath and I giggle at him.
"What?" he asks, voice short and raspy.
"Nothing." I say happily, climbing off his lap and standing in front of him. It occurred to me to ask if I was staying the night, maybe it was obvious, but I couldn't always tell with him. " Are we going to go upstairs? If not, I can go now. "
"A little eager are we?" he asks with a grin and I just shake my head. "No, you can stay if you want."
"Okay." I say, smiling at him. He stands too, and we both go upstairs to his bedroom, which was larger than both the dining room and the theatre put together. I sighed at the space, thinking of how drafty and lonely it would get if I was by myself in here all the time.
I wondered if it was lonely for Nathan.
I look around the room for a few seconds, noticing that he had no pictures of his family anywhere. Not that they necessarily had to be in his bedroom, but I had noticed there were none in his apartment or in his office at work when I thought about it. Then notice Nathan yawn a little, as though he was trying to hide it from me, and he sits down on the edge of his large, king sized beg. But, lucky for him, I caught on.
"You're tired." I state and he shrugs at me.
"Not really."
"Yes you are, look, you've got bags under your eyes." I insist and I walk over to him, standing very close, and reach out to his face. He flinches ever so slightly, and grabs my wrists, before standing himself and towering over me.
"I'm fine." he protests. Leaning down to kiss me, but I turn my head.
"No, you've got to sleep."
"Okay mom." he mutters, grinning at me.
"I'm serious, what time did you go to bed last night?"
"Probably 1 or 2." he states plainly, as though it actually wasn't that important to get a full night of sleep.
"And, let me guess, you woke up at 5?" I ask.
"5:15."
"Okay, yeah, you're going to sleep right now." I say pushing him back to the bed, but he resists me.
"Well, let me get ready for bed first." he mutters, shaking his head at me before he moves past me and into what must be the master bathroom. He flicks the light on, and I follow him, gazing around at the grand bathroom. All this extravagance intimidated me.
"You can borrow some clothes if you want." he says.
"Oh, I was just going to sleep naked if that's okay." I joke and his eyes went wide.
"Don't joke like that, now that's all I can picture when I look at you." he groans and I smile slyly, winking at him. He shakes his head, walking back over to me, and gazing down at me.
"Not fair." Was the last thing he said before his lips were on mine and we were moving, blindly, back towards the bed.

Hello Everyone!
I know, I know, its been quite sometimes since I've updated and I am so sorry. I got so caught up with finals at the end of the school year and on top of that my life just became much busier in general so I kind-of put writing to the side for a bit. I'm afraid I might have lost some readers because of it BUT I will be updating MUCH MORE FREQUENTLY NOW. I may even have a new story coming out very soon, so keep an eye out for that. As for Mr. Elitist I'll be honest part of the reason I didn't update was because I kind-of got stuck with where I wanted to go with this story, but I think I'm back on track now. Again I'm really sorry I've been inactive for so long! But now I am coming back. I'm going to try my best to update every Saturday or so. (maybe I will update other days of the week too.)

How can a monotonous maid leave her mark in such an unpredictable new world where a carnal second prince and an abominable warlord are tailing her skirt?; where forbidden magic is constantly in practice, unleashing creatures once thought to be mere folk tales?; and where a continental battle heightens previously buried tensions between two disastrously powerful kingdoms? **Updates only on Royalroad.com and Wattpad.com, NOT NovelHD.com**
