《A Trade Of Hearts |✔》CHAPTER 47: Kissing Is The Easy Part

The moment our lips met, a burning desire ignited within me. He parted his lips away from mine, looking at me, the colour of his face matching my dress.

He knotted his brows, trying to read my expression, probably rethinking what he did but I didn't let him.

I pressed my lips against his once more, wrapping one arm around his neck and the other, tangled in his hair. His hand moved from my face to my back, trailing down my spine, making a gasp escape my lips.

He closed the space between us, as if there was any which existed. He kissed me harder this time, more intensely. It was as if he was hungry, he had a sudden need to kiss me and I was way too familiar with it, I felt the same way.

When his lips left mine and moved to my neck, I drew a ragged breath. My lips ached to meet his, once again. This was not going to end here and there was no going back but then I remembered something.

Shit!

Blake.

"Stop! Adrian, stop. Stop.", I said, gasping for air and pushing him away from me.

He took a step back, withdrawing his hands that had already stated tugging on my zip but he had questions, a lot of them. He asked me the smallest one for him and the hardest, for me.

"Why?", He frowned, still heaving.

I thought of the best way to explain it as I looked at him. His lips had red lipstick stains and his tie was slackened. The first button of his shirt was gone. All was my doing. I went back to his searching eyes and said, swallowing a lump of air guiltily, "I have a date tomorrow."

"You don't have to go.", He reasoned.

"I do.", I said, looking away from him. I couldn't bear to. This was my fault. I should have never let him kiss me but if it was wrong, why did it feel so right?

"I don't understand."

"I need to go.", I said, placing my shaking hand on the cold door knob.

"Not without an explanation.", he said.

"I promised Blake a date, I have to go and I can't be a hypocrite. I can't complain to you about my sister and do the the same to Blake.", I almost whispered as I stared at my feet. My guilt was weighing down on me, heavily.

"You aren't dating him. Yet.", He frowned.

"But I intend to.", I said, biting down on the insides of my cheek.

"I really don't...wait.,"He said and suddenly his expressions changed. He looked at me, almost disgusted before he acidly said,"I do get it. He is twice the man I am, right?"

"Adrian, no. Don't bring that up again. I...", I pleaded.

"Forget it.", He said and then drew a deep breath before saying, "Goodnight. Vanessa."

He turned around and started walking back to his room but then he stopped. I was surprised he hadn't hurled an insult at me yet. Probably, he was going to do it now.

I held my breath when I realised that wasn't why he stopped. I looked at the two people who had just walked upstairs. It didn't take them much long before they realise what had happened.

Paula looked at me while Matthew's eyes were fixed at Adrian. I quickly opened my door and ran inside, shutting it more loudly than I had originally intended to.

I quickly switched off the lights and slipped under my blanket but I knew I was not going to get much sleep tonight. I laid there, wide awake, contemplating the past few minutes and the plethora of emotions it had made me feel. The smell of his strong deodrant was gone.

He was gone and I was here, my heart still beating twice as fast.

I knew that with him, anything would be extremely short term and that is why I didn't want to get involved but then why was there a part of me yearning to go find him and finish what we started outside my door.

Did I do the right thing?

I couldn't get the thought of him kissing me out of my mind. It was too vivid. Too real. I hesitantly walked down the staircase. I didn't know his parents would react. Was Matthew going to throw me out? He hated the girls Adrian had dated.

I walked over to the dining table and quietly sat down. Charlotte greeted me, "Good Morning Nessa!"

"Morning", I smiled slightly as I picked up a toast. Adrian wasn't here yet, which was a relief but his parents were. I didn't look at them. I was too afraid to. What would they think of me?

I quietly ate my breakfast waiting for them to say something but they didn't. I went back to my room, the one place I was sure not to run into Adrian and opened my laptop.

I looked at my mailbox and began replying to unanswered mail. An empty mind was a devil's workshop and I couldn't let this devil make me think about yesterday again. Not just because of the guilt but because I didn't know how I felt. It was making me question everything. Before yesterday, I would have never done something so impulsive but today, I wanted to do it again. That kiss was everything I wanted to feel for so long but it was wrong, it was with the wrong man.

I closed my mail. This wasn't helping me at all. Perhaps I should watch a movie, one that was not a rom-com. I opened Netflix and looked up Jumanji. There was no way I could think about Adrian while watching that.

When I finished watching the movie, I checked the time. It was past lunch time. I texted Blake with the address of the Greys Mansion and asked him what time he was picking me up. Then I picked out a few dresses and tried them on.

Adrian and I would never work out because a week of wild romance was not my idea of a relationship but yet I kissed him, I do think know why. I needed this date to think things through.

My phone buzzed and I checked it. It was Blake's message saying 7:00 pm. I smiled to myself. This was right. This was how things were supposed to be, I told myself.

I picked out a short navy blue dress with a halter neck. I heard commotion from below but I decided to finish my makeup first. I brushed my hair and was about to use my curling iron when there was a knock on my door. Oh god, not now! Was I being kicked out? Was Blake already here? Did Matthew say something to Adrian? I had too many questions.

I opened the door just to see Casey.

"Hey! What's up?", I said, trying my best to suppress my anxiety.

"You are being called down."

"Anything wrong?", I frowned, acting oblivious.

"Oh nothing! There is this guy who just arrived wi..."

I interrupted her impatiently, "Blake?"

"No. Let my finish, would you,", She said, slightly offended.

"Go ahead."

"There is this guy who has arrived with a large covered poster. He says he is from the Sol...solan..."

"Solntse?", I asked.

"Yeah that.", she said.

"Okay. I'll be down in a minute.", I said.

I tied my hair and quickly went down. If this guy was here, it could only mean that Mrs. Sokolov selected a picture of Adrian to go onto the front page of Eccentric.

I found myself next to Adrian's family which was waiting for the poster to be uncovered too.

Paula smiled, delighted, "Thank god, you are here. I can't wait any longer."

"Congratulations.", I said professionally, looking at Adrian.

He said, "Thanks.", and then turned back to the poster.

Matthew said, "Open it." And the employee did so.

As the curtain from over the poster came down,so did my enthusiasm to see the portrait. It wasn't just Adrian on the cover, it was me too. It was from the time we shared that dance. My heart started beating wildly as all the faces turned towards me.

Then a call came. I looked at my phone, this could be my way out of here but no. This was worse.

The name on my phone read: Blake.
