《A Trade Of Hearts |✔》CHAPTER 16: Planning In Progress...

I might not be the best judge of charecter but I was very sure that Rebecca and Vanessa were not friends. The stiffness in the air was very prominent. Really? Did Vanessa even have any friends?

I generally don't, but I broke the ice, "So where did you meet each other?"

"We went to high school together.", Rebecca said.

"Yeah!" Vanessa smiled...I mean forced an almost smile.

"What are you doing here?", I asked Rebecca.

"We have a date tomorrow night, remember., Rebecca winked at me.

"So...", I continued.

"So...I just couldn't wait till tomorrow.", She batted her eyelashes seductively.

What is she up to?

"Excuse me...you too.", Vanessa said clasping her hands together, " Adrian, I will be waiting near car for 15 minutes. If you don't come by then, I will myself go check out the venues. Anyway I don't think that it is required for you to come along. You can..."

"I'll be there within 15 minutes.", I stated.

I wanted to ensure that the perfect venue was selected so I quickly wrapped up things with Rebecca.

Tomorrow night, my entire family was going over to aunt Lucinda's 50th birthday party and I would rather be thrown of a cliff than go to their house and handle all the freaky girls she had chosen for me.

I usually take my girlfriends to my private penthouse because Dad hates me bringing them home but as they wouldn't be at home tomorrow, I invited her over.

She blew a kiss towards me with a wink as I headed towards the car. She was so far the best girl I had dated in the past six months.

Best in which sense? I hope you are wise enough to figure that out.

Vanessa was not there when I came! Seriously, this girl has a lot of attitude problem. Probably the main reason why I ha...detest her.

"Um...hum! No way! That is crazy! Eric, shut up.", I heard a boisterous laughter.

I turned around to see Vanessa talking on the phone to someone and walking across the parking lot. Ok. Poor judgement on my behalf!

"You have the world's most hideous ideas. I might as well die right now!" She continued laughing.

When she finally saw me after what felt like a decade, she cut the call saying, "Dude! I got to go! I'll call you after dinner...ya...bye!"

She walked up to me, we got into my Lamborghini and we left in it. Why? Because there was no way that I was going to leave my dearest car down here to get vandalised.

We first went to Conrad.

A middle-aged lady welcomed us.

"I am looking for Mrs.Smith.", Vanessa said.

"That would be me, ma'am."

"Perfect. I would like to see the accommodation facilities."

"Here ma'am", She offered a space-capacity chart for the rooms.

"We will have about...", Vanessa asked me.

"300 guests maximum.", I said.

"In that case you can opt for the reception or banquet style.", She continued.

"We will go for the reception.", Vanessa said.

"Perfect. You can chose between the Gallery Room AB, BC and West ballroom. Rest are occupied."

"We will go look at them and choose the best one."

She nodded and took us around the hotel. We saw all the 3 rooms.

West Ballroom

Gallery Room AB

Gallery Room BC

Vanessa chose to go with the Gallery Room AB and for once I agreed with her. We wanted to do something semi-formal so we could settle for nothing less than a venue overlooking the New York skyline and as we were happy with the hall, we dropped the idea of going to The Plaza. I am pretty glad, we didn't. I for some reason find it extremely gaudy and just too fancy. The fact that Charlotte got married to that idiot here might count too.

Next on the list was...food. Vanessa asked her for the menu and Mrs. Smith suggested that we should personally taste it first.

Vanessa looked at me for approval and I nodded in agreement. Great! Everything was going smoothly.

Mrs. Smith took us to the hotel kitchen and told the chef that we want to have a personal tasting. She then turned towards us and asked us to wait for a while.

I felt that my mobile was ringing and I took it out and like always I was right. It was a business call from my recent client- Al Futem. I attended it and when I came back, Vanessa was still flipping through the menu. Though I don't know her much, by the amount of food she eats at home, I can tell that this was going to be her favourite part of the party planning.

While I was still thinking about it, Mrs.Smith came to us and called us in. We walked inside the kitchen and...

No way!

In front of me was a table with two chairs under dim light. On the table were silverware, glasses and...a candle.

Did they get something wrong? I am so not going to sit through a candlelit dinner...with Vanessa!

I looked at her and she looked more horrified that me. I was so wrong. This is going to be the worst part of the party planning.

Oh hell no! I had been to dates and dinners but never had I been to a candlelit "formal" dinner. It was definately going to be a hellish one. What more can you expect when I was to sit with a cold, silent person?

I could not imagine anything but silence throughout the dinner and though people think I would have gotten used to silence by now , I am not.

I looked up at him and he as usual was cold and stiff. Even Mt.Everest was warmer than him!

I don't even know how I will survive this!
