"Do you guys know where Melissa is?" Leo asked leaning forward in his seat.
I took a gulp of the hot coffee warming my hands, I looked to my side and I caught Valentino's eyes looking at me expecting a answer. I mean, everyone was staring at me...
"What?" I asked looking at all of them. I placed the coffee of the coffee table in the of the leather beige couches.
"You were the last one to be with her." Kai stated making me look at him with an annoyed glance. His lip slightly twitched making me persue my lips.
"I don't know." I said shrugging, standing up I walked to the kitchen and dumped the coffee in the sink suddenly losing the desire of it.
"You don't know?" Valentino asked coming beside me as he trapped me with his arm to the marble counter.
"Isn't that what I said?" I retorted slightly frustrated as I pushed him away. If im being honest she was supposed to be in the car just like I told her and since the other day she hasn't appeared, im not complaining but it seems like the others just noticed now.
Just as Kai opened his mouth to speak but Ricardo strutted in the kitchen with his black coal hair slicked back with gel. He had papers in his hand as he gripped them tightly.
He rose his head and looked at the four of us and he rose an eyebrow when he saw my hand on Valentino's chest. I pressed my lips together as I dropped my hand.
"Come here." He stated and I furrowed my eyebrows as I walked to him. He showed me a little note but big enough to be noticeable. The letter seemed worn out with dirt stained on it and on the top corner some kind of small splatter was on it.
It looked dark red and dried...
The glint of a knife
The rash of a rope
The handprints around a neck
A silver bullet
a added one wouldnt hurt
Would it?
I looked at Mr. Romero with furrowed eyebrows, "What is this?"
He sighed, "It was found on the body of one of my guards around the perimeter."
Valentino walked over grabbing the letter as his eyes hovered over it moving as he reread the letter, over and over again.
Thoughts swarmed over my head as I thought about what this could mean.
A added one wouldn't hurt
The only person here who was shot is Melissa, and apparently a added one wouldn't hurt.
"Melissa, they have Melissa." I groaned out throwing up my hands in the air, great another problem on the list.

"I was thinking the exact same thing." Valentino sighed running a hand through his hair.
I reread the note, the handwriting was neat and clean, it wasn't messy nor scribbled but instead it looks like the person actually took there time to write it.
"How did she even get caught?! I gave her clear orders to go to the car. We cleared the hotel perimeter for her." I paused taking a deep stressed breath, "Wait, isn't the hotel under investigation?"
Ricardo looked up from the letter and his eyes met mine, "They are indeed checking the hotel but Victoria and Diego made sure to clear any evidence, including bodies and the ventilation bomb."
I nodded, "Okay thats a task off the list but we have to get back Melissa but we still don't know where shes located at."
"Shes either in one of their safe houses; mainhouse or being sold." Valentino responded making my eyebrows shoot up.
If she was being sold then we'd need to be able to figure what club she's being held at. Then, somehow figure out how to take her, which is something we need to work on and then we bring her back.
Nothing could go wrong.
"Is there an address somewhere on it?" Leo asked taking the note and flipping it over repeatedly.
"No, shes most probably being kept at the main club. Thats where he always is." Valentino stated with a deep husk voice.
"So im guessing were going there tonight?" I mumbled raising an eyebrow.
"Exactly, she has way too much information to be left off and knowing her, if they did the right things she would spill." He responded back and you could hear the hint of annoyance in his voice.
"So its simple, really, we get there. Then clear the area, get her out and we come back."
"Its not really that simple." He harshly said raising an eyebrow as he stared at me in the eyes, "There after us, as soon as we step foot on that place, we'll be at gunpoint-"
I cut him off as an idea came into mind, "I have an idea." I said as an mischievous smirk rose to my lips.
"Tsk tsk, I don't think so." Valentino paused as he leaned himself on the marble counter with his elbows holding him up, he looked so fine with his black hair and his grey eyes that were slightly narrowed and his lips...
God...
His tongue darted out skillfully as he licked his lips and it darted back inside as his tongue traced his fangs. It felt like my eyes were glued but it was until I saw a cocky smirk start to form on his pink lips. I raised my eyes to his grey ones. His eyebrow rose swiftly as he tilted his head looking at me dead in the eyes waiting a reaction out of me.

It worked so well cause immediately I pressed my lips together and looked away embarrassed as he caught me staring at his lips. Soon, he started talking again.
"Last time you had an idea, it ended with you on the edge of a building."
At the moment I heard a gasp behind Ricardo's body, I was to distracted to hear Amber enter the kitchen and hug Ricardo from behind. Before Valentino or Amber could start speaking, I started.
I ignored what Valentino said and started speaking what was on my mind, "As I was saying." I paused throwing a harsh glare Valentino's way but he didn't even falter, instead he looked amused by what i was about to say. "We could change our appearance and act different, basically undercover."
Out in the corner of my eye, Valentino's eyebrows rose up. I wasn't sure if that was good or bad but I quickly got my answer when he started talking.
"Its really not that simple, every guard there knows who we are. If we change, then we change everything. There are security cameras there." He paused as he turned to me, just inspecting me, "Athena, you could disable them."
I bit my lip to stop a wide smile from spreading across my face.
I'd have fun doing that.
Suddenly the main door located back in the living room opened and closed with a loud creak and soon Victoria's and Diego's voice entered our ears.
"Did you see how shitty it was?!" Victoria joyfully said as she let out a chuckle. I heard Diego let out a grunt and it seemed out of disgust.
"It was a greenish black, why did you have to explode their bodies in the first place?" Diego said and I could imagine him shuddering.
"Oh come on, it wasn't that bad, the blood just changed colors. That's all." She said from the living room.
"Yeah, from getting mold on it!" Diego huffed, and he soon entered the kitchen holding his stomach with a disgusted scowl on his face.
Victoria was right behind him as she let out a laugh and she patted Diego's back making him let out a wince but nevertheless a small smile tugged on his lips as he did a side glance at Victoria.
Victoria looked at all of us and soon her eyes fell to the note on the counter and her smile turned into a scowl, "Let me guess? They got Melissa?!"
She harshly grabbed an apple from a bowl full of fruits and she bit on it hard. Ricardo looked at Amber with pressed lips and Amber got the hint and started talking.
"Victoria, per favore non iniziare." Amber slightly said with a warning tone as she stared cautiously at Victoria.
"But mamma! She's gave us enough problems, or has she not?! Just leave her there. Im sure those Russians had've fun with her, dannazione!"
"Victoria, thats enough." Valentino growled out as he stopped leaning on the counter. "We can't leave her there, don't you ever think? She has enough information and I know her well enough to know that if they push her to her limits, she will open her mouth."
Victoria stared at Valentino with narrowed eyes as she threw her half eaten apple to the garbaje bin. It made a loud clang as it hit the metal.
"Now that all of you are here, I'm gonna explain what were gonna do." He said ignoring Victoria's breakdown, "Diego, I need to make sure the cars are in a stable condition , and get the weapons we all preferably use."
Valentino locked eyes with Victoria, "You sorellina, will help us with our 'change' and you will come with us. Leo and Kai, you two will remain discretely by Athena's side, at times. If something seems off tell me. Diego, you will come with us too, remain by my sister's side always, I'll be far off in the back looking at all of you, keep me updated."
They let out a choir of 'Got it' before they all walked away.
Diego slightly turned around and smiled at Valentino, "That's an awesome plan, man."
Valentino smirked and did a side glance at me, "It wasn't my idea."
Diego rose his eyebrows and looked at Valentino with confusion but then his averted to mine and if it was possible his eyes widened more then they were naturally. His lips broke into a wide smile.
"It was you?! I'm starting to feel like you were made for this." He mumbled as he winked in a goofy way, he turned around and he walked away as his back was out of view when he turned into a corner.
Believe me, im starting to feel like I was too.
I let out a deep breath as I smiled.
Everything was just amazing.

The Eternal Vigil
The year is 2220, a time when governments and nation-states are slowly becoming a thing of the past. Instead, all prominent parts of human society are now organizing around the commands of three great Artificial Intelligences, owned and operated by the world's largest corporation. World peace has been achieved, and the very word 'politics' has disappeared from people's lips. Religion has largely disappeared, replaced in some parts by worshipping of the great AIs, but mostly substituted by a devotion to material goods and faith in the market. There is now a general consensus that the best form of government has been found. No, it is not democracy, nor is it autocracy or oligarchy. Instead, it is technocracy - rule by the learned, the intelligent, and the skilled. And who are more learned, intelligent, and skilled than the great AIs? Exactly, no one. The AIs will correct some market failures once in a while, but shall otherwise let the market be free. After all, the freer the market, the freer the people. Some may question how society advanced to this stage, but that is all they will do - question. Because they will not find answers, for history is no longer taught anywhere. After all, it is not a practical subject. One cannot get a decently paying job with a history degree. Society doesn't have any time for people to idly ponder about the past. No, this is a practical society of practical people: engineers, doctors, lawyers, developers, managers, bankers, soldiers, and the such. My name is Aiden Scivit and I used to be one such practical man: minding my own business, doing my job, with the faith that hard work will always be rewarded by the market...and that politics and philosophy were things thought of by idly people who leech off society. But this all changed, and here is my story, my history. Just because the stories of ages long past have been erased, does not mean that a brand new beginning cannot be created. The story is already finished but I still need to do some editing so a chapter should be released each day for a month. It is a bit political, as you can probably tell by the introduction, so there is that (it will low-key read like a philosophy dump 10% of the time, so really it's like Atlas Shrugged but liberal and worse lol). Also, I actually wrote this in grade 10 as part of my MYP Personal Project, and recently touched up on it for online publication. Finally, if you find the writing style passable and are interested in my other works, check out the one in the link below. It is a fantasy set in the Ancient Greek world, and is completed and uploaded in full: https://www.royalroad.com/fiction/35099/the-oresteia-modernized
