BONUS CHAPTER :)
--
Gu Chunzhu went to the rice grain shop first, while buying salt, she couldn't help but feel surprised.
The price of salt was almost the same that of pork, it cost ten coppers per pound. She bought two pounds of salt, and bought half a pound of white sugar and half a pound of brown sugar. The price of brown and white sugar is the same which was eight coppers per pound, all in all it cost 26 coppers. Wen Qian, the boss also gave her few red dates.
Carrying the few bags of sugar and salt wrapped in oil paper, Gu Chunzhu went to the meat stall to buy pork fat. The ready-made boiled lard was expensive, the same as vegetable oil. Anyway, she would buy pork fat and make her own lard.
The meat seller was a couple.
The man's voice was loud and his stomach fat while the woman looked beautiful and lean however, the meat couple had greasy clothes after being in the line of work for many years. Their clothes would probably make a small pot of oil when rinsed.
"Elder sister buy some meat, fat or lean pork we have them. the thin ones cost ten coppers and fatty meat twelve coppers per pound" The man was busy cutting pork while the woman greeted Gu Chunzhu, she turned over the meat on the chopping board and showed it her.
Most people in town are poor and would want to eat fatty meat when they have the money, so this fatty meat was more expensive than lean meat, which was the opposite of that in modern times. Gu Chunzhu measured in her heart.
"I want to buy some pork fat, what's the price?" She swept through the meat stall and didn't see pork fat.
She couldn't help but flash a disappointed look.
"Yes, many people use rapeseed/vegetable oil. There isn't alot of peole who buy pork fat. I'll go get it, Im also going to cook lard on New Years Eve. Sister have a look, its very thick!"

A wooden box was moved out filled with pork fat
"What's the price?" Gu Chunzhu squatted down and picked it up. It was really thick.
"Twenty coppers per pound." The butcher said with a smile.
Gu Chunzhu dropped her hand and shook her head: "10 coppers per pound of lean meat, and only 12 coppers for fatty meat. This pork fat is too expensive for 20 coppers"
"Eighteen."
"Sixteen."
She glanced at the couple, watching her still hesitating, she took a step backward and turned with her sleeves.
The butcher's wife said with a sour face: "Okay sixteen, sixteen, you can buy more."
"Then I want five pounds, I also want that big bone stick, and a pile of offal."
Gu Chunzhu has been looking forward to buy this.
This pork fat wasn't easy to sell. She bought five pounds and almost rounded the parcel in the wooden box.
She was a big client and should not be overstated.
"The big bone and the pile of oppal coppers cost 2 coppers. You are wise elder sister, here it is!" The butcher's wife used hemp rope to tie the five pounds of pork fat for her.
She was about to hand it to Gu Chunzu but saw her hands already occupied with oil paper bag. She also didn't have a basket with her.
Gu Chunzhu took out a silver from her sleeves and gave it to her, "I'll settle the account first, I'll go get my basket."
"It's okay, you can take your basket first." The butcher's lady was kind, not afraid of Gu Chunzhu running away, anyway she will still come back to get the pork fat.
"Well, okay."
Gu Chunzhu didn't waste time here either. She turned around and went to Uncle Zheng to get his broken basket and bucket. From a distance, there was a person doing business in her stall and a crowd of people.
What's going on? Gu Chunzhu's clenched her fist, this was her stall that she spent fifteen coppers for a month. How can someone else occupy her space while she's still there?

Her steps were quick, she moved away from the crowd ready to reason out and saw Su Wangqin's wheat colored face.
She saw a bucket of river prawns in Su Wangqin's hand, she froze, stuttering: "Brother, Wang, why are you here? did you go fishing?"
"Will talk about it later and let's do business first" Su Wangqin pulled Gu Chunzhu to his side, he was very busy scooping prawns and collecting money.
Several of Gu Chunzhu ’s customers were there, they could n’t help but joke: “Little sister-in-law, how come you bring your man today? It seems that this river shrimp business has grown.”
“The relationship between the young couple seemed really good, They cooperate when selling shrimp. "
" Your shrimp is very fresh, although there is not much meat, its delicious when stir-fried! "
It took a long time for the people to disperse. Gu Chunzhu held more than 30 coppers on her hand. They sold six bowls of prawns, more than half of the barrel.
Even Su Wangqin couldn't catch so many shrimps in the morning!
She touched Su Wangqin's arm, "Brother Wang, now you have time to tell me. Where did you get the shrimps?"
"Accepted." Su Wangqin sorted out the remaining river prawns in the bucket, and estimated that they could still sold for three bowls, he explained to Gu Chunzhu, "I went to the river today and saw them fishing for shrimps, they caught it for their own food. I wondered, since you sold them for five coppers I asked and bought it to them for three coppers."
"Brother Wang, you are so smart. "
Gu Chunzhu's mouth opened slightly, why didn't she think of this way!
It takes money a day to set up a stall in the town. Many people are reluctant to come but if they could Buy and sell like this, they can earn two coppers without having to go fishing hard!
Su Wangqin smiled. Honestly, watching Gu Chunzhu's smile made him more happy than earning money.
Gu Chunzhu held the heavy copper plates on her hands and asked Uncle Zheng to for a hemp rope to string the copper plates one by one, she muttered "Aren't you afraid we won't be able to sell it all? your courage is big."
"It won't happen. We can send it to Chef Zhang in the county to sell or just work harder." Su Wangqin responded.
Yeah, why didn't I think of that
Gu Chunzhu stringed the copper plate and looked at Su Wangqin, he had a resolute face, big eyes with long eyelashes, good lips, not thin and thick, a good nose, good facial features, the combination is quite ordinary .
But Such a person's brain turns even smarter than her.
"Buy river prawns, fresh river prawns!" Su Wangqin shouted in a low and pleasant voice, and some customers gathered around him. Gu Chunzhu saw the meat in the guests' baskets and remembered what she came back for.
She knocked her head and hurriedly took the broken basket. Before leaving, she greeted Su Wangqin and hurried towards the meat stall.
The butcher's wife was relieved to see Gu Chunzhu's, she pointed at the butcher and said, "Im right to say that this elder sister will come back. We must be honest in doing business, we can't sell this to others." "
"Thank you for keeping it for me. I forgot and did shrimp business in my stall over there. I will give you some to try later." Gu Chunzhu was also very sorry.
She reached out and handed over a silver plate. The butcher lady looked for twenty coppers and came back, listening to her so polite, she also bent her eyebrows. "You dont have to be so sorry!"
