《What I Want ✔》Chapter 29

Aubrey
While Damien was napping in the bassinet near me, I took some time for myself. I decided to watch a movie to get my mind off Vincent. Emma went home to her family and Blake is gone on a two week business trip in England.
The door opened and my mom came inside. She looked extremely tired.
"Today was such a long day. I'm exhausted." She sighed as she sat down.
"Trouble at the company?"
"Yes, but nothing I couldn't handle."
"Where is Dad?" I questioned.
"He's still down there sorting a few things out. He'll be home soon."
I settled for watching 'The Kissing Booth' and mom made some snacks for us.
A couple minutes later the doorbell rang.
"I'll get it." I walked to the door and opened it. My breath caught in my throat as I saw Vincent standing there with the same girl from earlier.
"Aubrey can we talk?" He questioned.
"I'm kind of busy right now."
"Please. It will only take a sec." He pleaded.
"Alright." I stepped outside.
"I'll be waiting in the car. Call if you need me." The girl smiled as she left.
"What do you want to talk about?"
"Look, you are an amazing woman. You're beautiful, kind, smart, strong and just perfect. You've been through soo much and you're still able to smile everyday. You make me happy and you light up my world. I love you Aubrey Evans." His words touched my heart but it was all a lie.
"No you don't love me Vincent." The tears fell from my eyes.
"What? Why would you think that?"
"Because you love her." I signaled to the girl in the car.
"Yes, I do love her." He chuckled.
"Then why are you telling me all of this? You should be with her."
"Aubrey what are you talking about?"
"I saw when you confessed your feelings to her at the park today."
"Wait, you came to the park. Aubrey I think you're confused. Allessandra is my cousin."
"She's your cousin?"
"Yeah, I was just practicing because I was nervous to tell you how I feel." He blushed.
"I should have just asked." I muttered with embarrassment and he chuckled.

"It's okay. I can imagine how that looked from your perspective. Allessandra could you come here for a sec." He called.
"Hi Aubrey. It's soo nice to meet you. Vincent wouldn't stop talking about you."
"It's nice to meet you too." I said shyly.
"Awwwww she's soo cute and even prettier in person." Allessandra gushed.
"Thank you and you're pretty too." I smiled.
"Thank you. So are you and Vincent together now?"
"We're still working it out. I just wanted you to meet her."
"I'm glad I did. Well I'll leave you two to it." She walked back to the car.
"She's soo nice." I stated.
"She is very annoying but she's always there for me." Vincent laughed.
"Aubrey, you're the only woman for me. You make me happy and I never felt that way about anyone before. You're my sunshine. I feel soo much love for you and I need you in my life. Aubrey Evans will you do me the honour of becoming my girlfriend?"
"You risked your life to save me and I will never forget that. You've always been there for me through thick and thin and I couldn't ask for someone better. I love you soo much Vincent and yes, I will be your girlfriend!" I jumped into his arms and kissed him. He kissed me back and then we finally pulled apart for air.
"You've just made me the happiest man alive." He said as he hugged me.
"I have something for you." He ran to the car and came back with a bag of Jolly Ranchers.
"Oh my gosh! Thank you Vincy." I squealed.
"Anything for you princess."
I threw my arms around his neck and stayed in his embrace. This is perfect. I felt right where I needed to be. Here with Vincent, I was truly loved.
After Aubrey spoke to me I was left shattered. Her words had a venom to it but she spoke nothing but the truth.
I decided to clean myself up. I wanted to change and become a better person and maybe I can have a shot at wining Aubrey over.
If she loved me before then she could definitely love me again.
Aubrey has always been pure and true. Her energy and vibe was unmatched. In little ways I realise that she has always been there for me. Everyone has a breaking point and I think the effect of Anthony and I pushed her to that point.

I can't even begin to describe how much I miss her and wish she would forgive me.
After getting dressed for work I brewed myself coffee. Lucia still worked for me but she only came to prepare dinner and clean the house.
After getting dressed for work, I made my way downstairs and into my car. I remember when Aubrey would prepare lunch for me to eat at work and I would give it to Vincent. I regret it soo much. I wish I would have just listened to her.
"Haden can we talk for a sec?" Ivory walked up to me. She looked awful and tired.
"I have nothing to say to you."
"I just wanted you to know that I'm turning myself in." She whispered.
"Great!"
"I know you hate me but I will always love you. I love you soo much Haden. You might not believe me but I just want you to know that I love you. Our love was true and real. I didn't fake that."
"We aren't having this conversation."
"I gave Damien to Aubrey. He'd be better off there."
"That's not my child so I don't care. But why would you push him off on Aubrey? You're sick. You knew what Aubrey went through with Anthony and you give her his baby."
"Haden, she accepted him. "
"Whatever."
She tried talking to me as I walked to my car. I ignored her and started the engine. After settling myself in the car I drove off, leaving her standing there.
I had no time for Ivory. She tore my heart out and left me fragile. I was soo hurt and devastated. Finding out that the baby wasn't mine hurt me a lot. It was one of the most painful things I've ever been through.
Vincent and I no longer worked together. He went back to his family's business but we still kept in contact. I know I had lost my bestfriend but I'd be okay.
"Good morning Mr. Vanderbilt." My assistant Camille smiled. Camille is my personal assistant. She is a brunette with deep brown eyes and is 23 years of age. She started working for me about 2 days ago.
"Morning."
"Sir, here's your coffee." She blushed as she placed it on my desk.
"Thank you."
"Sir, may I ask a question?"
"Yes."
"Is that your wedding band." She gestured to the ring on my hand.
I was indeed wearing my wedding band but not the one from the wedding with Ivory. I was wearing my wedding band from my when I was wedded to Aubrey. Thinking about her made me feel sad all over again.
"Yes it's my wedding band."
"Oh. Its lovely."
"But I'm no longer married. I wear it for ... sentimental purposes."
"I understand. That must be hard."
"Any more questions about my private life?" I asked causing her to blush.
"N-no." She stuttered.
After work I got into my car. While driving, I saw a sight that would be forever engraved in my mind. It was the perfect family. Vincent, Aubrey and a baby, Damien, were all together.
Vincent held the door as Aubrey cradled Damien while she entered a building. My heart tore into pieces. How could this be happening? Aubrey looked so happy and Vincent stared at her like she was his world.
I continued driving as I looked away from them. This was too much to bear. Aubrey had moved on with her life and she chose Vincent. She chose Vincent and she's happy with him. I was upset about this entire thing. I wanted Aubrey to be happy with me. I felt like only she can fix me.
Parking the car and sitting inside, I realised how lonely I truly was. I had no one to rely on. My world crumbled as soon as the truth came out. It was painful to see that I was now buried in my own thoughts and past.
I realised that everyone had been begging me to be with Aubrey but I didn't listen. I was too blinded by Ivory's lies to see that Aubrey was the one for me.
I will do everything in my power to get Aubrey back. She belongs with me.
