《What I Want ✔》Chapter 22

Today was the day of my engagement party. I got dressed in a navy blue tux and ruffled my hair a bit. After looking at myself in the mirror I smiled and grabbed my phone.

Walking downstairs I greeted my guests. There weren't many people, in fact many of the people I invited didn't show up. This was heartbreaking. I texted Vincent even though he didn't want to talk to me. I texted all of my friends and asked why they weren't showing up but got no response from them, Caleb and Alex that is. I wanted them to be here. Only Derek and Nicholas came.

Ivory came downstairs in a green sequin dress. Her hair was placed in a neat bun and she wore black flat shoes. She looked absolutely stunning.

"You look beautiful." I smiled as I pecked her lips.

"Thanks and you look handsome." She giggled.

"Is this everyone that came?" She questioned.

"Yes I'm afraid so." I muttered woefully.

"This is all my fault. A lot more people came to the party you and Aubrey had. Barely anyone came to this." Ivory whispered.

"Baby, I'm sure everyone will come to the wedding. This is just a bit sudden for them that's all. Don't be sad we'll still have a good time. I promise." I hugged her and kissed her forehead.

"Alright. Well let's meet our guests."

I stood infront the room with Ivory.

"Attention everyone." I called. They all looked at me and gave me their undivided attention. It hurt me to know that my parents didn't attend. Even Xavier wasn't here.

"I'd like to thank you all for coming to celebrate our engagement." I said and they clapped.

"I just want to say that there's nothing I'd rather be doing than spending my life with this amazing woman. She has filled my life with joy and I'm grateful for her. Our bond can never be broken and I will continue loving her forever. Ivory Thompson, I will love you forever and always." I kissed her and the crowd cheered.

"Haden that was beautiful." She beamed and hugged me.

"Please enjoy the party everyone." I stated as I guided her to the table.

"Hey Haden. I just wanna say that I fully support you and your decisions man. This is your life and you need to be happy. Everyone else might not agree with you but you're in love and if Ivory makes you happy then be with her. Aubrey was pretty chill. She was really cool and we want to continue the search for her but this is your life man. Congratulations." Derek pat my shoulder.

"Thanks man I appreciate it."

"I also wanna say congrats aswell. You're finally happy and that's what matters. I'm glad you found the woman of your dreams. I guess this is you being yourself and we all have to accept that. People should accept that you have the right to make your own choices. Congrats on your baby and your engagement bro." Nicholas cheered.

"This means alot guys. Thanks alot for supporting me." I smiled.

"We'll leave you with your fianceé." Nicholas winked as his girlfriend brought him a drink and they left along with Derek.

I sat down with Ivory at the table and we talked about other plans for the wedding.

"Hey Haden, the invitations for the wedding are all set. Should I hand them out now or after the party?" Maria, our wedding planner questioned.

"Yes, give them out now. Don't forget to send them to everyone I have on the list even if they aren't present here." I stated and she nodded.

"You think your parents might come to the wedding?" Ivory asked.

"I'm not sure. Mom made it clear that she wasn't coming." I sighed.

"I wish they would come. This is their grandson after all." Ivory muttered.

"Its gonna be okay. It will be okay." I rubbed her hands.

The door opened and Emma, Aubrey's sister walked in. I didn't invite her so what was she doing here? Maybe they found Aubrey or something.

She marched up to me and slapped me across my face.

"What's wrong with you? How can you slap him?" Ivory yelled as she inspected my face.

"How could you do this to my sister? My parents might have spoken nicely to you but I'm not gonna sugarcoat it. You're an asshole Haden. You don't deserve to be happy. " Emma screamed.

"Quit saying that." Ivory fired back.

"Shut the fuck up bitch. I wasn't speaking to you. I get it, you love Ivory and yes, you were forced into this marriage with Aubrey but at the same time you could have atleast tried to consider her feelings. You could have built a friendship with her or something. You didn't have to run off and get married as soon as she disappeared. You're a horrible person. If you actually treated Aubrey well, maybe, just maybe the contract would have ended and you could have had your precious Ivory. That marriage between you and Aubrey wasn't just for the company it was to see if you could actually handle pressure, to see if you could make appropriate decisions when a person life is involved. It was like a test to see if you have a heart but you don't. You really don't. You're a fool and guess what, you'll be the one to lose it all in the end Haden. People who hurt others don't get away that easily. " Emma glowered as she looked me in my eyes.

"I did what I had to do." I defended.

"No you didn't. You didn't have to do anything. You wanted to do something. You did the wrong thing actually. Anyway I just came for my sister's stuff it no longer belongs here. " Emma spat as she marched upstairs.

"Fine. Take it and get out of my house." I shouted as two other men came inside to remove Aubrey's stuff.

"Relax. I wasn't planning on staying." She snapped.

Everyone was staring at Ivory and I. Some wore looks of disgust and sympathy. Emma just had to ruin the party.

After they took Aubrey's stuff they left immediately but not before slamming the door and 'accidentally' breaking one of my vases.

"The party's over. " I said as I packed up the remaining food and gave it to my guests.

"Thank you all for coming." I smiled as they left.

"Well that was a total disaster. She just barged in here and yelled at us." Ivory snapped.

"Aubrey is her sister and she has every right to act that way."

"So you're taking her side?"Ivory yelled.

"I'm not taking her side. I'm just saying that she has every reason to be mad at me. It's her sister and she will obviously be upset about this."

"But she insulted you Haden. Are you deaf?"

"Look, I don't wanna talk about this. It doesn't matter what she did. All that matters is that we are getting married." I smiled as I kissed her forehead.

"I guess so."

"Now how about we take a shower?" I pinched her nose playfully and darted upstairs.

"Haden. You know I can't run." She laughed as she waddled up the stairs.

"Then I'll carry you." I scooped her up in my arms and strode upstairs.

After helping her out of the dress we took a long shower which I enjoyed alot.

Bringing her some tea I found that she was already sleeping. I kissed her forehead and went to the balcony.

Her phone rang, alerting me that there was a notification.

I didn't want to pry but when I heard another notification I checked it. I saw two messages.

Who was this guy and what are they talking about?

Ivory stirred in her sleep and then woke up.

"Haden? What are you doing?" She inquired as she grabbed her phone out of my hand.

"Not that I have any doubts but who is Anthony?" I questioned.

"He's the wedding photographer and he is making a collage for us. I wanted it to be a surprise. It's suppose to be my gift to you." She pouted.

"Oh, I'm sorry for prying." I muttered awkwardly.

"Its fine Hay Hay." She kissed my nose and walked into the bathroom.

She told me the truth right? Then why do I feel soo insecure? Why does it feel like something is wrong?

Our feet were planted to the floor as Leonardo walked in.

"Can I help you boys?" He inquired as he strode up to us.

"We were just doing an evaluation of the apartment." Xavier stuttered.

"What are you boys really here for?" He asked again completely ignoring Xavier.

"We want to meet your boss." I stated firmly.

"Oh, so you wanna see the boss eh? Well the boss doesn't just see people. What's your aim?" He questioned.

"We wanna talk to him about something. Can you give us a location?" I asked.

"No I'm afraid I can't do that. Now why don't you get yourselves out of my apartment and I won't rat you out to the cops." He sneered.

We walked out of his apartment, our heads hung low. I thought things would have turned out differently.

"Damn it. And I bet we can't break in again." I sighed as we settled into the car.

"Who needs to break in when we have all the info we need." Blake smirked as he revealed the book.

"Now this is what I wanted to show you." He gulped.

Opening the book we saw different locations and pictures of Aubrey along with them.

"This is psychotic." Xavier stated as we flipped through.

Turning the pages we found an address.

"Where do you think this leads?" Caleb questioned.

"I have no idea but now we know that they have Aubrey, whoever they are." I stated.

"We're going to the address. I believe Aubrey is there." Caleb admitted.

"That may be true. They might know we are on to them though . I'm sure Leonardo is gonna inform his boss." Alex informed us.

"Yes so we have to hurry before they do something else."

"Wait! His girlfriend lives here right? So we go to her and find out what we can." Xavier suggested.

"Well, we can do that seeing as we are here already."

"Alright but where does she live. What's her name?"

"I never got her name.I heard she is a brunette. She has a kid I think. She lives in a house on the other side of this town. I'm not sure which house but we can ask around." Caleb recalled.

"Lets go find her then."

~

"No sorry. I don't know her. I have no idea who she is." A woman in her mid fifties said as she walked her dog.

We drove further along the road and saw a girl scolding a child.

She was a brunette and her hair reached mid-back. Her daughter had short dark brown hair and was currently crying as the girl spoke to her.

"Guys that has to be her!" Alex exclaimed.

"Hey, can we have a minute of your time please?" Caleb asked politely and the girl nodded.

"Sure thing. Come on Amanda, we'll finish this later." She smiled as she came towards us.

"I'm Kelly by the way.How can I help you guys?" She questioned.

"Do you know a guy named Leonardo?" I inquired.

"Sorry, I don't know any Leonardo." She shook her head.

"Oh well thanks anyway."

"Wait, does he live around here?" She asked and we nodded.

"Maybe my boyfriend knows him. Wait right here." She said as she grabbed her daughter and walked into a nearby house.

A few minutes later, a guy with black hair and dark brown eyes came to us.

"Hey fellas. How can I help? The name's Anthony. Haven't seen you guys around here before." He stared at each of us.

"We're looking for a guy called Leonardo, well his girlfriend actually." I said and his eyes widened for a split second but he composed himself.

"No there isn't any Leonardo around here, friend." He answered swiftly.

"Why are you looking for him though?" He inquired.

"Just, some unfinished business." Caleb answered calmly.

"Oh I see. Do I know you from somewhere?" He stared at me long and hard.

"I don't think we've met." I answered.

"Well is that all I can help you guys with?" He smiled but I could tell he was hiding something.

"Yeah that will be all thank you for your time." I said and drove off.

"Guys, he is definitely hiding something." Alex pointed out.

"That's the same thing I was thinking. He knows something about Leonardo, more than he's led on."

"Lets just go to the address. We'll think about him later." I suggested.

Aubrey just hold on a little longer. I will find you. I promise.
