- Ace King -

My eyes snapped open when I heard someone slam a door closed. I was already on my feet as I looked around at my surroundings and noticed that I wasn't in a familiar room.

I looked at the clock which was crookedly hung on the wall and sighed when I realized that I haven't been unconscious for more than a day.

I think I've been out for about thirty minutes.

I immediately took my phone out, and my eyes knitted together when I didn't get a single text from Mia. It was strange. She usually replies when I text her.

So I called her, multiple times before I started to get worried. I haven't seen her all day, because of my dad.

Did something happen to her? What is she's in trouble? Is she hurt? What if she was kidnaped!

I called her again, and again, but nothing. I was growing more anxious when she suddenly called, and immediately I answered.

"Mia! Are you okay!? Why didn't you pick up? I was so worried! Did anything happen to you! Did—"

"I'm fine Ace," she interrupts. "We all went skating for the past two hours, and I forgot my phone in the car."

I sighed, running a hand through my hair. Thank God She was alright. I don't think I could forgive myself if she was hurt.

"Okay, but please don't do that again," I begged.

"I promise," she replied. "So, how did it go?"

"I finally got him to spill. I know why he signed the contract."

So I told her everything. How the contract we had was fake, form my father cheated on mom with his ex-girlfriend, and how the party was just a distraction. I told her that my dad knocked me out and that I'm currently stuck in an unknown room.

"Please don't go to the party."

"Ace, are you serious? Of course, I'm not going to the party after what you just told me!" she exclaimed. I was about to say something when I heard voices in the background. I waited until I heard Mia's voice again, but instead, I heard Levi's voice.

"Mia told us everything," he said. "Try to find out where you are and call us when you figure it out."

I ended the call, and put my phone back in my pocket.

If I see my dad, I'm not going to hesitate to punch him in the face. Why would he do this to his own son? For a successful person, I didn't know he lacked common sense.

The reason this whole situation started was because he made the wrong choices, and he doesn't want to stand up for his mistakes.

I'm glad that I'll be taking over the company. He doesn't deserve the title. He's not the father I used to look up to anymore.

Fortunately, the door was unlocked, so I made my way out. The room I was in looked fairly average. There was a single bed, that clock, and a desk that was pushed against the corner. So I assume I was at someone's house.

I was relieved that it wasn't Mindy's place. And how did I know that? Instead of the bright colours that decorated the house back at her place, everything was much darker.

And I seem to like it this way.

I turned a few corners before I finally reached what looked like the main living area. Thankfully, no one was here, so I was going to make my way out when I heard hushed voices coming from the kitchen. Maybe it was my father and Mr Summer.

Damn, all I want to do at this moment was storm into the kitchen and beat the fuck out of those two. But instead, I quietly walked to the kitchen, hiding behind the wall so I went unnoticed.

I heard Mr Summer's voice, but instead of hearing my father's voice I heard Mindy's.

"I want you to go up to your room and get ready," Mr Summer ordered. "Ace's father just went out for a bit, and he'll be arriving soon."

"What about Ace?" Mindy asked.

"Don't worry, you'll have plenty of time for him."

I heard Mindy sigh, and the sound of her heels fading as she walked passed the other door to the kitchen. I made sure to move quickly without making a sound as Mr Summer left the kitchen as well.

Hopefully, they were the only people here in the house, and I can escape before my dad gets here.

I easily found the front door, and made my exit. When I stepped outside, I wanted to curse to the world because I realized that the house was surrounded by thick trees. How the hell am I suppose to tell Levi where I am if we're in the middle of fucking nowhere?

I groaned before walking away from the house. I couldn't just stand there where I might get caught. I made sure that ran far enough so they wouldn't find me and pulled out my phone. Hopefully, Levi can track down my phone through the call and figure out where I am.

"Make sure you don't hang up until sixty seconds have passed. I'll be able to track down your phone after," Levi explained.

So I stayed where I was because I didn't want to risk encountering something here. Or someone.

Because it was almost evening, the sun was slowly setting, and it was dark enough to see a small light just a few feet from where I was standing. Being the stupid, but smart person I am, I went towards it because we are all curious people who can't help but want to know what's going on.

I hate not knowing what's happening.

But before I could see what it was, I heard Levi's voice, saying that he knew where I was. He told me the directions I needed to go so he could pick me up.

"Everyone look to the left! Everyone look to the right! Can you hear that yeah—!"

"Who's singing?" I asked, and Levi sighed.

"Ben."

Of course.

I hung up, and followed the instructions Levi told me. Eventually, I reached what looked like an abandoned road. I wasn't sure if I was in the right place, so I called Levi again, and he stated that I was at the right place.

As I waited, the small light not became more noticeable now that the sun was completely gone for the moon to replace it. I glanced at my phone and looked back at the source of light.

Damn it. If Levi doesn't show up, then I'm leaving to see what that is.

Five minutes passed until I noticed Levi's car in the distance. The moment I got in, Levi started to drive. He told me that Mia and everyone else was at his place. Apparently, the party was still going on, and Sarah - even though she knows I was practically kidnaped - said she still wanted to attend.

"Something about meeting her soulmate," Levi chuckled.

I was glad that I was finally away from Mindy, her father and mine. I know that my problems haven't been solved yet, but at least I was away from them. I hope that one day all three of them will rot in hell.

"Shit!" Levi cursed.

The car came to a sudden halt, and I sit the back of Levi's seat since I wasn't wearing a seatbelt.

"What happened?" I asked, rubbing the side of my head. We both got out and noticed that there were holes in one of the tires. But they weren't caused naturally. It was caused by bullets.

"You've got to be shitting me," Levi groaned. I rolled my eyes and walked to the trunk, opening it before lifting the secret compartment up. This was where Levi and Ben kept all their junk like old plastic bags, sweaters, empty containers, etc.

But this is where they also keep two spare guns just in case there were emergencies like this. I grabbed each one, tossing the other to Levi.

"Your life is way to complicated," Levi commented. I glared at him, and that made him instantly shut up. I squinted my eyes, trying to find any human figure that could be hiding behind any trees.

"Alright losers!" Levi shouted. "Come our before we beat the fuck out of ya!"

I looked at him, raising a brow.

"What? Ben says that when we're doing 'errands.'"

Ignoring his comment, my eyes shifted to one place to another until I spotted sometime move. Levi seemed to notice it too because now he looked much more serious.

The person soon ran, and that's when Levi and I moved to catch up with them. But it seemed like they knew the forest more than we did. They were much faster, and quicker on their feet. They must be familiar with this place.

Levi said that we should split up so that we could try and corner the person. So that what's we did. And that's when I saw it again. That same light. I stopped running and looked at it. I know that I should be chasing after the person, but something about this light was intriguing.

I approached it, and my eyes winded at what I saw.

There was a bouquet of purple flowers placed on the ground, and behind it was a gravestone, with the words 'Annie' on it. Candles were light around it, and because there were many of them, it shined brightly. On the trees were more decorated lights. It looked so peaceful. Unlike the house I escaped from.

I wonder why something like this was doing here.
