《She Belongs To The King | ✓》CHAPTER NINE

"So," Ben said, his eyes on the road as he drove me to school. "You chose school over Ace?" he asked, trying to hide the laugh he struggled to keep. I rolled my eyes, and he finally let his laugh be heard.

When I woke up this morning, it was hard to slip out of Ace's embrace, because whenever I moved away from him, he'd just pull me closer to him and tighten his grip.

Eventually, when I did manage to escape, I asked Ben if he could drop me off home since he was the first one I saw sitting on the couch in the living rooms.

He dropped me off home, and waited for me outside once I showered, and grabbed everything for school.

When we got to school, I thanked him and got out of the car. Just as he drove away, I saw Sarah making her way over to me. She had a smile on her face as she practically skipped all the way here.

"Someone's happy," I chuckled, and she rolled her eyes. We both walked into school and went our separate ways to our first class.

Unfortunately for me, Mindy was also in my class. When I walked in, she was glaring daggers at me, and I was glad that the teacher was here so she couldn't do anything. As the class started, I could still feel her eyes burning the side of my head, so it was hard to concentrate on the lesson.

What's her problem? Oh yeah, everything is.

I couldn't wait until class was over because I had a free period next. Usually, during free period, I went to the library to finish homework or to read. Sometimes I like to take a walk or something to get my mind off things.

When the bell rang, I shoved everything into my bag and headed to my locker as students rushed to their next class. I grabbed all the books and textbooks I didn't need and put them in my locker before heading to the library.

I sat down at an empty table and grabbed the novel I was currently reading. The only people that were here were the librarian and a few students that were in the computers doing whatever they needed or wanted to do.

I didn't like our school library, because even when we weren't supposed to eat and drink in here, people would still do it, leaving their garbage on the floor or tables. Our library was also small.

I was just getting to the good part of the story when my phone buzzed. I ignored it at first, but when I kept doing it, I sighed and placed a bookmark between the pages before looking at my phone.

Jacob was texting me.

I smiled and texted him back, saying that I didn't mind at all. I told him I was in the library, and moments later, I saw him walk in. He looked around the room until he spotted me.

"Hey, I have a question," Jacob said as he took a seat across from me. "There's this girl that keeps following me around—"

"Mindy?"

"How'd you know?"

"She does this to every guy in the school," I replied.

"Well, I don't think she'll be interested in me," he said with a slight chuckle. "Wanna know why?"

"Why?"

He leaned closer to me and opened his mouth to speak when someone interrupted him. He was pulled back and almost fell out of his chair. To my surprise, Levi took a seat beside me, a smile on his face.

"Levi? What are you doing here?"

"Oh, well Ace said to keep an eye on you while he was away," he replied casually.

"But, you don't even go to this school." Levi just shrugged before narrowing his eye towards Jacob.

"You must be the guy staying at Ace's house," he scoffed as Jacob nodded.

For the rest of free period, and the school day, Levi was with me the whole time. Teachers didn't even complain that he wasn't supposed to be there, but instead continue their lesson like any other day.

I still couldn't get what Jacob was saying.

I don't think she'll be interested in me.

Mindy was practically interested in anyone of the opposite gender. She didn't care about anything as long as there was someone to satisfy her so-called needs.

When the last bell of the day rang, Levi dropped me off home. My mom was working again so the house was dead silent when I arrived.

I wanted to see how Ace was doing, but Ben and Levi's house was a far walk, and I knew Ace would be mad if I walked alone.

I opened the fridge and searched through it, seeing if there was anything I could eat. I don't want to cook since I'd probably end up burning something. Or the entire house. When I found nothing, I groaned in frustration and decided to just order pizza.

As I waited, I quickly took a shower and changed into a white tee and a pair of shorts. I put my hair in a bun, not caring that a few hairs were sticking out in a mess.

If the pizza deliverer was a guy, I didn't care if he saw me like this. I mean, it's not like I'm trying to impress anyone, right?

I called Ace, and he immediately picked up. I asked if he was okay, and he said he was fine.

"I miss you," he said, making my heart hammer in my chest.

"Well hurry up and get better so you can see me," I joked, and even without seeing him, I could tell he was rolling his eyes. The doorbell rang and I ended the call. I planned on watching a few movies tonight since I had no homework.

I got a few dollars from my room and made my day downstairs. I opened the door, and saw that it was a guy. He was fairly tall, and had messy brown hair with blue eyes. He held the pizza as he smiled at me. "You ordered pizza, right?" He asked, and I nodded.

The guy sighed. "Good. I thought I got the wrong address."

"Is it your first time working?" I asked as he handed me the pizza. He nodded as I paid for the pizza.

"Thank you," I said, and was about to close the door when his foot stopped it.

"What's your name?" he asked.

"Um, Mia," I replied, facing him a small smile.

"I'm Louis Sage," he introduced. "I'll see you around I guess, Mia."

"Yeah..."

And he removed his foot so I could close the door. Okay, well that was interesting.

I made my way into the living room and turned the T.V on. I opened the box of pizza and ran to the kitchen to get a can of Pepsi before making myself comfortable on the couch.

I was halfway through the movie when the doorbell rang. I couldn't be Mom because she wasn't coming home until midnight, and it couldn't be my dad either. Cautious, I looked through the peephole, and my eyes went wide when I saw who it was.

But wasn't he suppose to be in Spain?

I opened the door, and Mr King looked down at me due to his height. He had bags under his eyes, and his hair was in a mess, not in its usual gelled style.

"Mr King, what are you doing here?"

"Mind if I stay here for the night?" he asked. "I called your parents, and they said that it was fine. They mentioned that you're the only one here."

I nodded. But why can't he just go home? I decided to question it because it was probably none of my business. I showed him the guest room and he thanked me before closing the door.
