《Come Back To Me, Kiwi.》Chapter 42 - Boredom and Papas

It had been a week since anyone came over. Vidal was really quite annoyed that Mia and Mila wanted all my attention. I didn't understand why he couldn't be more tolerant. They were only three.

Now I've been sitting at home all week doing nothing, and Vidal has been typing some stuff up on his laptop for days. I just wanted to meet someone else or at least go out somewhere. I was really bored.

"Vivi! I'm bored!" I whined.

"Kiara, just give me an hour. I'll take you out, baby. Just one hour, please." He said, clearly fed up with my constant whining.

What was I supposed to do? Sit around and stare at the wall? He had things to do, but I didn't.

"Vivi, you're being mean. I don't have stuff to do like you do." I said to him.

"I know. I'm sorry. Just one more hour. Please!" He begged. "You can call Ari or Remi and talk to them."

I grabbed my phone and sighed, calling Ari. We talked for a few minutes, then the girls started screaming and she had to go. Then I called Remi and he responded, sounding more than happy to talk to me.

"Hey, Cupcake. How've you been?" He asked me.

"Good. How about you, Remi?" I asked.

"I'm good. Just bored. I have a meeting in a little while. But sometimes I feel like just going skydiving instead of going to a stupid meeting." He laughed.

I laughed at that. Sometimes Remi could be a little crazy.

"No, Nora. Not those papers, these ones, Cutie." He said.

"Nora? Who are you talking to?" I asked him in confusion.

"Oh.... uh... someone." He said.

"Remi...." I said in a warning tone.

"Ok... It's a little girl." He said to me.

"Why do you have a little girl in your office?" I asked him.

"Nora, Sweetie. Not that one, I've got work on that one." He said, the sound of pages flipping coming through the phone.

The sound of giggling came through the call.

"Why're you on the phone, Daddy?" A little girl's voice said.

"Daddy?!" I asked in complete and utter shock.

"Daddy?" Remi asked, sounding kind of panicked. "Uhm... Kiara, I... I have to go."

The call was cut immediately after that and I was left in shock.

"What happened?" Vivi asked me.

"Uhm... Remi is being weird." I said, knowing that this wasn't my business to share. Remi would tell us whatever secrets he had later once he worked them out.

"Of course he is. He always is." Vidal told me.

I sighed and then decided the least likely to be busy was Theo. Besides, I wanted to talk to him and see how he was doing. He was really sad the day he came over.

"Hello?" Theo asked.

"Hi, Theo. How are you?" I asked.

"Kiara?" He asked, sounding really excited.

"Yeah." I said, smiling.

"Oh wow. I never thought you'd call me." He laughed.

"Why not? You're my big brother." I giggled.

"That I am." He said with a chuckle. "So? What's up?"

"Literally nothing. I'm trapped in the apartment and Vivi won't take me anywhere." I sighed.

"What about meeting someone else?" He asked.

"He also doesn't want me to meet anyone else, apparently you're all plotting against him and you want to steal me from him." I sighed, rolling my eyes and sinking deeper into the couch.

"Don't tell him and invite someone." Theo told me.

"Who?" I asked.

"I don't know... maybe my grandfathers.... they're a good option. They're really sweet." He said.

"But how?" I asked.

"Uhm.... call them." He said to me. "I can send you their numbers after we cut the call... or I can just send them over." He laughed.

"Yes, please!" I begged.

"Ok. I'll send them over to rescue you from Vidal's boredom trap." He laughed.

"Thanks, Theo." I laughed.

"No problem. How have you been though?" He asked me.

"Really good." I smiled.

"No more panic attacks?" He asked me.

"Nope. None since the one you saw. I'm sorry you had to see that." I said to him.

"No need to apologize, Baby Sis." He told me.

I smiled.

"How about you? How have you been?" I asked him after a short pause.

"I've been alright." He said, and I could almost see him shrugging.

"That sounds like a lie." I sighed.

"It's not. I've really been alright. Not good, but not bad either." He told me.

"You still thinking of her?" I asked him.

"I'm always thinking of her. She never leaves my mind." He told me.

"Theo... maybe you should just try looking." I said gently.

"I know. I know I probably should. But, you know life has put me through a lot. First it was losing her, then it was the treatment and the health issues that came with it. Then it was in general just trying to live without the person you love. I grew up, things got better, but then I started watching everyone find someone, and I'm left with nothing but a broken heart. I want her back, but my heart is kind of fragile, if you know what I mean. I'm just afraid that this hope I have of getting her back one day is the last thing keeping me from losing it. So, I don't want to look for her and find her with someone else and then just break." He said to me.

"I understand." I said softly. "We all just want what's best for you, that's why we tell you to look for her."

"I know." He sighed.

"Of course you don't have to look for her. It's just our suggestion. But Theo are you really just going to sit around and wait?" I asked him.

"I don't know. I guess for now that's what I'm going to do. I'm working my way towards an Instagram account." He explained.

"Yeah. That's not a bad step. It'a just an account, you don't have to contact her at all or even look for her. But maybe this way, she can find you." I said softly.

"I guess." He said. "It hurts a lot."

"I know it does. I'm so sorry, Theo." I said.

"Anyway... How are you and Vidal?" He asked me, changing the subject quickly.

"Uhm.... the same. Not much can really change." I said.

"How about therapy? Are you doing better with that?" He asked me.

"Kinda. I talk more. But it just feels like they're trying to mess with my head and I don't like it one bit." I said.

"Yeah. I can imagine it's pretty weird and annoying." He said softly.

"I don't like it. But I know I have to do it. I mean.... I just don't get why... They want to get in my head and know all my emotions just to see if I'm ok? Shouldn't it be a sign that I'm not ok if I just tell them everything?" I asked.

"I don't know. But why don't you say that to them? They can't know how you feel if you don't tell them. So don't give them what they want if it makes you uncomfortable but give them something. Tell them how you're feeling about the therapy sessions." Theo suggested.

"You're probably right. I'll try. It's just a little hard to talk to strangers, you know?" I said.

"Yeah. I get it.... can I ask you a question?" He asked me.

"Sure, go ahead." I said.

"Would you say it's easier to talk to us family members? Even though we're kind of strangers?" He asked me.

"Yeah. But you aren't strangers. I've heard about almost everyone now. I don't know much about Evan, but Ari told me some stuff." I smiled.

"Oh, Evan's chill. You'll love him. He's kind of quiet though. He's just an ordinary dude, who does extraordinary things." Theo laughed.

"He does extraordinary things?" I asked.

"Well. He's just a good guy. Like he'll go out of his way to help people, and he's super smart and kind. But he tends to keep quiet and let things play out in his head if that makes sense. He had a year or two where he felt really, really sad after high school. Then we all sort of pulled him out of it." Theo said.

"Why'd he get sad?" I asked.

"Because he thinks too much." Theo chuckled.

"About what?" I asked.

"Literally everything." Theo laughed.

"He sounds kind of cute." I smiled.

Theo chuckled.

"You find everything and everyone cute." He said.

"That's kinda true." I giggled.

After a while of laughter, he got a little serious.

"Thanks, Kiara." He said softly, his voice still quite happy from laughing.

"For what?" I asked.

"For talking to me. I like talking to you, you can always cheer me up, somehow." He laughed.

"Aw, you're the cutest, Theo. Always." I said, wishing he was around so I could give him a hug.

"Girls really are weird. How do you find everything cute?" He laughed.

"You're not a thing, Theo, you're a person. And cuteness isn't just about appearance. It's also about behaviour." I explained.

"What about my behaviour is cute?" He asked me.

"Uhm.... like everything?" I said.

"That sounded like a question." He said to me.

"Uhm... yeah.... I don't know. You just.... you're super gentle and sweet and it makes me feel happy when you laugh, so... you're cute." I told him.

"That's a strange way to determine cuteness. But it makes you sound extra cute." He chuckled.

"Ok, ok. Enough cuteness. Will you call Papa Teo and Papa Dev and tell them to come here and rescue me from the boring man who's holding me captive." I asked.

"Sure thing, Baby Sis." He laughed.

"Thanks, Theo! You're the best." I giggled, hearing him say his own goodbye and then cutting the call.

I laid there staring at the ceiling for a minute and then I decided to annoy Vidal. I walked over to him and I sat beside him, beginning with playing with his hair.

"Kiara, stop it, baby." He said to me.

I completely ignored him and I kept scratching his head like I wanted to.

"Vivi, you're so mean. I'm bored!" I said, shaking him by his shoulders.

He set his laptop down and he pulled me into his lap so I was straddling his legs and hugging him.

He slid his hand underneath my shirt and started scratching my bare back gently with his fingernails. I would never get enough of that. I rested against him and he got back to work.

After about twenty minutes, I heard a knock at the door and I jumped up, going to answer it.

I opened the door and saw Papa Teo and Papa Dev. Both of them were tall, and they were quite old. But they were cuties, I could just tell.

"Save me from this boring man." I said with a giggle.

"Who wants to go to the beach?" They asked.

"Me! Me, me, me, me, me, me!" I said, bouncing up and down.

"No....!" Vidal whined.

"You said you'd take me wherever I wanted. Now get off your butt and let's go!" I said, looking at the baskets in Papa Teo's hands.

"Food." He said, winking at me.

"Let's go!" I said, taking Vidal's laptop from him and setting it down in the coffee table.

I then ran to the bedroom and put on a bikini and threw a sundress on to cover up.

"Let's go! Let's go! Let's go!" I said, pushing Vivi into the bedroom to change.

"Hey, Princess." Papa Teo said, pulling me in and hugging me tightly.

Then Papa Dev pushed him away and hugged me instead.

"Will you two play in the water with me? Vivi is so boring! He won't do anything!" I said, rolling my eyes in annoyance.

"Sure thing.... we're going to teach you how to be the best at water wars... that way you can win when you have one with everyone." Papa Dev told me.

"Yes! Thank you, Papa! I have a feeling you guys are gonna be my favourites!" I cheered, getting super excited.

"Ooh, I bought you something." Papa Teo said.

"What?" I asked, watching him reach into a bag that Papa Dev was holding and pulled out a sun hat.

"Oh, it's so pretty!" I cheered. "Thank you, Papa!"

I giggled as he placed it on my head.

Vidal walked out of the bedroom looking as attractive as ever and he smiled at the sight of me.

"Someone's looking pretty." He said with a big grin.

I smiled and took his hand, pulling him out of the apartment with us. I was ready to go to this beach and have some fun. My papas seemed very sweet and fun and I was ready to enjoy some sun and water.
