《Come Back To Me, Kiwi.》Chapter 39 - Talking Toddlers and The Blonde Giant

Arabella and I had been talking for a long time, she told me about all the family members I hadn't met, and I knew I wanted to meet her grandparents next. I got her number and added it to the growing contacts list in my phone. Now we were just sitting around joking about things and laughing about them.

"Mommy!" I heard one of the tiny little ones yell, running towards her mother.

"Indoor voice, Love." Arabella said softly, picking her daughter up and setting her down on the ground. The other one came calmly walking towards us and she climbed up on the couch between me and her mother.

"Hi, Pwetty." She said to me.

I internally melted at the cuteness.

"Hi, Sweetie." I said with a smile.

"You love Vivi?" She asked me, looking up at me.

I giggled and nodded and she looked at her mom.

"Mommy love Daddy." She told me matter of factly.

"This one is Mila." Arabella told me, gesturing at the girl in her lap. She smiled, brushing her daughter's hair away from her face. "She's much more extroverted and loud than her sister."

I looked at the smiling girl who was waving at me.

"And this one is Mia, she's the quiet one... but she'll give you all the facts she knows without you ever asking." Arabella laughed, patting her other daughter's head.

I couldn't detect any difference in their appearance, but they were quite different in their behaviour.

"Pwetty? You cooks like Nana?" Mila asked me.

"I do, just a little though." I said.

"Sometimes we helps Nana." Mila informed me excitedly, her volume increasing dramatically.

"Wow! That's so cool!" I said, watching the girl's face brighten from the praise.

"Momma cooks too." Mia said quietly.

"Really?" I asked.

"Momma does cheese bites." Mia told me, looking proud of herself for knowing that.

These girls seemed really smart, they were apparently only three, almost four, but they talked a lot. They were just tiny humans with squeaky voices and bad grammar.

"That's right. We just had some this morning, huh?" Arabella said, looking down at her daughters like they were the most important thing on the planet.

"But da cup broke." Mila said.

"That's right. Micah accidentally knocked a cup over and broke it." Arabella chuckled.

"Dada got ouchie." Mia said.

I looked over at the tall blonde man and quickly looked away. I didn't really know how to act around him. He was Arabella's husband. I wouldn't want a random girl getting close to Vivi, so I'm sure Arabella wanted me nowhere near her husband.

"You wanna talk to Micah? I know he seems intimidating, but I promise he's a sweetheart." She said to me.

I shook my head, completely uncomfortable with that. I just honestly didn't want Micah anywhere near me. It was just weird to think of talking to him as if he was on of my brothers like the other guys.

"Is it because you don't want to upset me?" Arabella asked me, somehow finding one of the reasons for my reluctance.

"I just... it's weird with him... like... he's married to you... what am I supposed to say?" I asked her.

"Just talk to him like he's your brother. It doesn't matter. He'll keep as much distance between you as there needs to be. You can let him lead the conversation if you'd like." She said to me.

"No... I... I don't like him." I said, looking at the blonde giant again.

"Aw, why not? He's so sweet." She said, pouting a little.

"I just don't know how to act, you know..." I said.

"Act like you would with Uncle Gabriel or Evan. I guess Remi and Theo are different because they're closer with Vidal... is that it?" Arabella asked.

"It's just... I don't know." I said.

"Alright. I'll sit between you. Does that make it better?" She asked me.

"A little. But I still don't like this." I said.

"It's ok. You can hold my hand if it feels uncomfortable." She said to me.

"Ok, fine." I said reluctantly.

"Hey, Miki! Come here, baby." She said to her husband.

The blonde giant started approaching, he was way too scary. I immediately took Arabella's hands.

"Hey, what's going on?" He asked Arabella, kissing her forehead and looking over at me.

I just looked back at him, not saying a single word.

"Oh, you've got a fuzzy in your hair." He said, reaching over and pulling something out of my hair, making me turn so red that I was sure I was almost purple. That was pretty embarrassing.

He sat down beside Arabella as she laughed at my mortified expression.

"What's up?" He asked, pulling Mila into his lap.

"Pwetty scared?" Mia asked, standing and touching my face gently.

"I think she's just a little embarrassed." Arabella told her daughter.

Vidal sat down beside me and I immediately climbed into his lap, not liking the idea of talking to Micah at all.

"He's not scary." Vivi assured me.

I kept a careful eye on Micah, not wanting to let him out of my sight.

"Dada not scary." Mila giggled.

"It's ok. I know I'm kind of big." He laughed.

That wasn't really why he was scary. It was just not knowing how to act around him that was stressing me out.

"So I guess I won't be getting a hug from my new sister today." Micah smiled lightly at me.

My eyes widened and I frowned at Arabella.

"How much do you love Vidal?" Arabella asked me.

"A lot." I said.

"So you're not going to do anything weird with my man. A hug is normal, Kiara. He's just like your brother. If you were a random stranger it would be weird for you to hug him, but he's your sister's man, you should be able to laugh and get along and hug, it's normal." She said to me.

"No." I shook my head.

"Alright. No hugs. That's fine... I just want you to be comfortable, Kiara." Micah said to me.

"I'm not comfortable." I informed everyone.

"Ok. What can I do to make you more comfortable?" Micah asked me.

The thought of telling him to leave crossed my mind. But that would be really rude.

"What about Remi? You said that he had a girl he was thinking about...? How come it's ok to be comfortable around him?" Arabella asked me.

"He's my brother." I said.

"So am I... but just hold up a second... Remi has a girl?" Micah said in confusion.

"Yeah." I nodded.

"What? Why didn't he say anything... what's the deal with this girl?" Micah asked.

"He said she's pushing him away... it seems really complicated." I said.

"I thought Uncle Ric set something up." Micah asked me.

"He did. But... Remi was over and I don't know if it's the same girl but he said there was a girl." I said.

"What? I didn't hear any of this." Vivi said.

"Well. You were busy staring at a stuffed bunny." I said with a laugh.

"Fair enough." Vivi laughed.

"Wait, did he say anything about her?" Micah asked.

"Yeah. But nothing substantial. He said he didn't want to get too attached in case she never lets him in." I explained.

"I see... so he's not really sure about her yet?" Micah asked.

"I guess so..." I shrugged.

"Hm... interesting." Micah chuckled.

"What about Theo? Any hope in getting him to make an Instagram account?" Micah asked.

"No. It's just not happening anytime soon... he's... let's just say he's dead set on torturing himself." Vivi sighed.

"He's just afraid that he'll see her with another guy." I said.

"Yeah, but like... he needs to get over it... he has to look for her and if he sees her with another guy, he can move on.... it's stupid to get so hung up on something and for years refuse to look for the person you love so much." Arabella said.

"He'll look for her on his own time, guys... just leave him be for now." I said to them.

In all honesty, I wanted to reach out to her on my own, but I didn't know her last name and I didn't know what she looked like. If that meant talking to a million Mabels just to see a smile on Theo's face, I'd do it. Truth be told, it hurt to see Theo so upset and I wanted him to have his Rapunzel back. He'd suffered enough. I heard about when he got sick and it sounds really, really hard, especially since he got sick so soon after she moved away.

"Was she Italian?" Arabella asked.

"Yeah." Vivi nodded.

"What did she look like?" Arabella questioned.

"Long brown hair and brown eyes, and she had one hell of an attitude... she was a little violent... but with him she was different." Vivi explained.

"Violent?" Ari and I asked at the same time.

"Like she wasn't afraid to smack a man in the face for looking at her the wrong way." Vivi laughed.

"Oooh! I like it!" Ari giggled.

"Only because you do the same." Micah laughed, kissing her head.

"Not like that. She sounds more vicious than me." Ari said.

"She is. But you can be very scary too, Ari..." Vidal laughed.

"One time a guy said something incredibly rude and uncalled for to us, and she got up and scared him away, then another idiot tried to touch her and she smacked him in the face, knocking him to the ground." Micah told us.

I put my hand up in the air with a smile and Ari gave me a high five like I wanted.

Maybe Micah wasn't so bad. I could get along with him from a distance. I didn't know about hugging him or anything, but he was alright. Maybe the blonde giant was a gentle giant. He didn't seem all that scary now that we'd talked a little. I knew that Uncle Gabriel would be alright too, but Evan was another story, he might be harder to talk to. He seemed quiet and different from the rest of them.

But I didn't need to think about the others right now. I'd just met four people in one go, and I'd be lying if I said I wasn't a little proud of myself. I got Micah's number too, since Vivi insisted he was also a necessary contact. I didn't quite see it that way, but I actually mustered up the courage to directly address him and ask him for his number.
