《His Unwanted Bride (BWWM) √》Chapter 9

Two weeks after my accident, I realised one major thing.

Spraining an ankle sucks I swear. I have never been or felt as incapacitated as I felt while my leg was in a cast. I already walked like a baby duck. Add limping to that and you have a winner, a huge mama duck.

I sighed and 'stylishly' tried to use my ruler to scratch the skin in the cast and when I felt that relief, I sighed in pleasure.

"The little pleasures in life." I whispered to myself as I scratched some more. It was very itchy and at that moment, I realised why dogs and cats couldn't help but want to bite their bandages. I suddenly understood their annoyance. Increasing the TV volume, I opened the packet of M&Ms and poured it into a bowl and popped open a can of soda while I munched on my popcorn. The whole weekend, I gave my "say no to junk food" mantra the middle finger and munched away on my sweets. So what if I added more weight, it's not like it was going to change my situation.

It was a movie marathon day for me. Keith had travelled to Chicago on a business trip and I couldn't be happier. No awkward moments, no mean mother-in-law coming to visit her golden boy, nobody to clean after. Just paradise.

I had decided to spend my weekend binge watching the new 2017 movies. I'm sure the couch already had my butt imprint in it because I hadn't left that couch since Friday and it was already a Sunday. No school, no husband, no responsibilities. Just me and my injured leg and my cats and my secret stash of junk food. Just paradise.

Just then, my phone rang and when I looked at the ID and saw 'Jason', I sighed as i suddenly felt tired mentally. It was the hot nurse.

"Hey Jason." I said into the phone when I picked the call.

"Hey you. How's the leg?"

"It's better. Itchy though. How are you?"

"I..will be fine if you say yes to my request." He replied and I pinched the space between my eyes. Jason had turned out to be pretty persistent, like he didn't accept No's from people.

Sure, I had felt starstruck when I saw him the first time but apparently, my respect for vows ran deeper than I thought because since he started calling me and constantly asking me out on a date, I had blatantly refused....or maybe my real reason for not accepting was because he was hot and I was fat and was scared of finding out it was really just a big joke between him and his friends.

"No, Jason."

"Why? Just give me a good reason."

"I have a cast on. That means I can't put on a shoe and it makes me walk funny and will make me stick out."

"That's actually not a good reason. Just one date I promise, and if you don't like it, I won't ask again I promise."

"Fine. It's not a place I have to dress up for is it?"

"No. It's not. Since your leg is in a cast, we will go to a really really small place where you won't have to dress up to be."

"Yah. Okay. Send me the address and I'll meet you there by 5:30?"

"Great. See you there beautiful." He said and I disconnected. I went to the room I have using since my injury (because I had been told to avoid stairs, I had to sleep downstairs), brushed my hair and pulled out an elastic skirt and a blue long sleeve blouse and slippers. I didn't even makeup. I didn't care, I just wanted to do it and be over and done with it. I brushed my hair and went back to my movie to kill time until 5:30.

When it was finally 5:30pm, I drove out and followed the directions he sent to me and when I got to the quaint restaurant, I looked at my reflection in the mirror and only 7 words fleeted through my mind over and over again as I got down and walked into the restaurant.

This is going to be a disaster...

***********

It hadn't been a disaster. Jason had actually been amazing right from the start. I found out he lived with his two younger sisters and a fat ginger tabby.

The restaurant had been a cozy little normal place, so I ended up not being or feeling underdressed.

I looked at my wrist watch to check the time, expecting it to barely be 8pm only to find out it was almost 10pm. I gasped in shock because it had definitely not felt that long.

"I have to go Jay. It's very late and I really hate night driving and staying out late." I said as I put my phone in my purse and grabbed the food I ordered from the restaurant. I was not ready to cook anything to eat. I also planned on ordering pizza on my way home.

Jason and I walked out and towards my car and as I got in, Jason made a statement that made me pause.

"I don't think you'll be driving yourself home tonight."

"Why?" I asked, sounding as confused as I looked.

"Your front tire is flat. Totally flat...though I can change it for you if your spare is here."

I sighed as I facepalmed myself. My spare tire was flat too. At that moment, my best friends voice floated through my head as I remembered what he said the last time something like this had happened. "You really need to have your spare tire pumped. This is your one flaw Nica. You are lazy when it comes to your tires What if something like this happens in a remote area where there is no network coverage? What will you do?"

"At least I'm not in a no-network area" I joked miserably. I felt like crying. I just wanted to go home and sleep. I pulled my phone out of my purse to call my dad to have him send his driver over.

"Come on. I'll drop you off." Jason said.

"Really? I don't want to intrude." I said because I wasn't used to asking people for things/help.

"You aren't intruding 'cause I offered."

Saying thank you to him, I called my dad to have him send his driver to tow my car to a garage and have all tires pumped. I called and ordered my pizza in the car and before long, following my directions, I was home. Before I could open the door, Jason was out and already doing it. Wow, what a gentleman. All the attention actually made me feel weird. I wasn't used to attention, I wasn't used to people doing things for me.

"Thank you. You know, I had a great time this evening." I said to him with a small smile and he grinned as he replied that he did too.

"Does that mean you'll go on a second date with me?" He asked.

"Date? I don't think so. Hang out as friends, sure why not?"

"Why won't you go out with me?"

"Uhmmm 'cause I'm married?"

"No offence but you strike me as a lonely wife."

"I didn't say that."

"You didn't have to." He said as he moved closer to me, trapping me between him and the car as he took my hand in his. He smelled so nice.

"I can take care of you Danica, treat you the way you should be treated."

"Do you even know who my husband is? This isn't a good idea." It wasn't that Keith would be jealous or anything but because Keith might mess with him just because he didn't like me.

Jason ran his thumb over my wrist over and over again and it kinda made me shiver in a good way. He must have noticed because next thing I knew, he was kissing me. Did I kiss back? Yes I did. Because let's face it. I am human, I have needs too.

But then I broke the kiss and signed. That wasn't me. I would never do something like that.

Its an open marriage Maya. You can be with anyone you want to and it won't be cheating. Besides he obviously wants you, not Keith that fucked you once just because he was drunk and then later said it was a mistake. A small voice whispered in my head but I shook it off.

"I can't do this. I'm sorry. Thank you for the ride Jason. Goodnight." I said as I walked up the stairs to the front door.

Before I could close the door, I saw the headlights of the pizza guy as he drove closer to the house and decided to wait for him. Jason waved at me and got into his car and drove off while I waited for the pizza guy. I paid and then closed the door behind me before leaning on it and letting out a huge breath.

You did the right thing Maya. It was not a mistake. You would have hated yourself in the morning if you had actually dared to do it. Sure it feels good to be wanted..but at what cost? You hate feeling guilty right?

I really hated hearing my thoughts. It was as if i had two mini people talking in my head, one good and meek and the other one daring. The good and meek one won most of the time even though I liked the daring one.

I opened the pizza box and started eating a slice as I walked into the sitting room, my haven for the weekend. Flicking the lights on, I screamed when I saw a figure sitting in the arm chair close to the TV, nursing a glass of Bourbon.

"Keith? When did you get back?" I asked in a bewildered voice.

"Hello to you too Maya."
