We are waiting for Xavier to come with Anna. The shareholders are getting impatient.

Anna's uncle and aunt came fully prepared. They have most of the shareholders on their side.

It seemed like they bring all the important documents. We don't know what they have. Or will that influence today's meeting.

It is a very crucial meeting for the future of the company and Anna. Where the hell are you both.

It's been an hour through the meeting. We have tried our best to convince the shareholders to wait for Anna.

"How long do we have to wait? We all are busy. We have to start this meeting without the girl." Said one of the shareholders.

"You are right. I told you before, she is just a spoiled little girl. We took care of her and we couldn't say no to her in anything." Her aunt said.

"She even leaves the house without asking from us for days. She is busier with her boyfriend's problem, I don't think she will be able to manage the company." Her uncle said.

"That's why we came up with a solution. We want liquidation of the company." Her aunt said.

"What?" It was a simultaneous reaction from most of the people present in that room.

"On what basis are you asking for this? This is ridiculous." My uncle questioned their request.

"We have a valid reason. The company is going under loss for so long now. We can barely pay our creditors, as the shareholders I know you all expect more from this company." Anna's uncle said.

"How could you say this, this is your family's company and you feel no remorse while asking this." Some other interrupted him.

"He is right we are the shareholders and it's true that the returns are not what they used to be." Some others agreed with Anna's uncle.

"And who is responsible for that? You are taking care of the company for years. Before that, the company was doing fine. So you should take responsibility." I said.

"We have been trying our best in this company, the market is very competitive these days. It was easy back then." Her aunt tried to explain.

What an excuse.

"Nothing is easy from the start. They started this company from nothing but only hard work." My uncle told everyone.

"But Mr. R, we invested in this company for profit. There should be no emotions in the business." Someone said.

"Yes, I agree."

"You are not giving the new CEO a chance. Maybe she can change this situation." Uncle suggested.

"The girl, who is not time in this very important meeting. What responsibility will she take by showing this attitude?" One of the shareholders said.

"She must be caught in some kind of problem. She was preparing for this meeting for so long."

"Sorry Mr. R. We can't wait any longer. Let's vote on the request for liquidation of the company." One of the eldest members said.

"Raise your hand who wants the liquidation." He asked.

Most of the members agreed with it. Only a few stayed with us.

Where the hell are you guys?

"So it is decided to announce this company under bankruptcy."

"But we still need Anna's signature for that."

"Mr. Shane, she is now the largest shareholder of the company. She has to be here for this important decision."

"Yes, and we have to discuss the terms and conditions for it too."

They all were talking to themselves. We tried our best to stop it. But we didn't speculate that they will change the whole point of the meeting.

"So let's put the application in the court..."

"Sir please, there is a meeting going on."

"Miss, we have court's order, you can not stop us." Someone said outside.

"But sir...sir..."

Just then a group of policemen entered the room.

"Hereby the order of the court, Mr. & Mrs. Miller you both are under arrest." Said the officer.

"What bullshit is this? Why? What dis we do?" Anna's aunt shouted at them.

"You tried to kill me." And then Anna entered and behind her was Xavier.

"You are getting arrested for kidnapping your niece and attempting to murder her." The officer explained.

The room got filled with murmuring.

'So that's why she was not her.'

'Poor thing.'

'Why would they do something like that?'

'Now, what will happen to the company?'

So many people talking about Anna, she got conscious.

I took steps towards her but Xavier also noticed that and put one hand on her shoulder.

I could see her relax a little. I gave her a big smile to show my support.

"We won't accept this, you have no proof against us." Mrs. Miller shouted again.

"Aunt if I didn't have the proof, do you think the police would have been here?" Anna replied smartly.

"Take them." Officer ordered his fellow policemen.

"We didn't do anything. Let us go. Don't you dare touch me." They both were shouting.

"Anna, we are your family. How could you do this to us?"

"Uncle, what you expect from me after planning my death that I should forgive you?" Anna asked shocked.

"We raised you for years. Treated you like a family." Her aunt said.

"You and I, we both know how big of a lie is that." Anna replied.

Anna's POV-

After a long fuss, they finally left.

Now I was standing in front of the room full of unknown and powerful people.

They all were looking at me with some expectations.

"Will you explain what just happened here?" Someone asked.

"Ye...yes sir." I stuttered.

I saw Xavier was about to stand but I shook my head.

This is my fight and I have to fight it myself. I can not take his help any longer.

I smiled at him. I took a long breath.

"Good morning everyone. I am Anna Brook. Daughter of Jordan and Rose Brook, the previous CEO of this company. From today onwards will be taking over this company." I introduced myself.

"But dear, BOD has decided to announce the company bankrupt." An older man said.

"But that was then when we didn't know what was the real reason behind her absence." Someone said.

"That doesn't change the fact that we are not earning any profit from this company. This company is already in losses for so long." The man far in the corner said.

Company's bankruptcy? What the hell is happening here? We are here to not let my uncle-aunt take away my company. Right?

I was not prepared for that. We planned everything according to the situation we thought we would face.

What to do? What to do?

"We should give her a chance at least." One lady in the room said.

"Ms. Brook, do you agree with the decision of the BOD. We will consider your request as you are the CEO of this company." The oldest man, Mr. Benjamin said.

"Mr. Benjamin, I oppose this decision of the Board of Directors. Here are some documents I want all of you to see. I don't have many copies of it because I didn't presume that I will need it." I said. I called Ms. Maria, the manager of the company.

"Can you please make copies of this document ASAP?" She took the documents and left the meeting room.

"This company was never under any loss. We have enough regular customers to work for this company properly. I did this research myself. Mr. & Mrs. Miller, my uncle, and aunt had done nothing to better the situation here. They were just using my company's resources, assets, and capital to fill their accounts. I have proof of everything." I said.

"What is this? Why are we listening to this girl? We have known Mr. & Mrs. Miller for so long, do you believe that they would do something like that." Someone said.

"Yes, he is right. We don't believe you. What do you know about doing business? You are so busy with your personal life that you didn't take time to visit your company even once after your parent's death." The man beside the first one said.

I immediately recognize them. They were the people who my uncle and aunt appointed here.

"You should let her speak. How do you know her family and personal situation? If her uncle and aunt could try to kill her, what do you think they must be doing at home. She must have suffered a lot." The lady said.

I could see Xavier was getting angry. My heart was sinking too but I had to take charge here. I can not let the emotions control me at that crucial moment.

"Sir, let me finish. I can..."

"Ma'am, here are the papers." It was Maria. I smiled at her and took the papers from her.

Xavier came to help me distribute them.

Everyone was looking at the document.

"This document can tell you, where all the money was going. I have the information about this company which they were planning to start after liquifying this company. I thought they want to take over the company but they talked about announcing bankruptcy which means they were planning to finish this all very soon." I told everyone.

Everyone was shocked except Xavier, his dad, and David.

"I request to everyone, please let me handle this company, at least give me a chance to save my parents dream. You all were with them for so long. You even invested when they were not here and the company was not doing good. So, please give me a chance to prove myself worthy enough for this company and your trust." I requested them.

"We have to think about it. Why don't we take a little tea break and after that we will tell you our decision. Okay?" Mr. Benjamin said.

We all agreed. Everyone left their seats. They were talking to each other.

"Everyone, this way please. We have prepared snacks and drinks for everyone." Ms. Maria told.

I was the last to exit with the three people I know here.

"You did great, dear. I will do my best to make them agree with your request. Now I have to go with them. Xavier, make sure that she is okay." With that, Xavier's dad went away.

Now only Xavier and David were left with me. I let out a long breath.

"That was terrifying." I said.

"You were scared? It didn't seem like..." Xavier interrupted David.

"Can you give us some time?" Xavier asked David.

"Yeah, sure. You take a rest. This battle is still going. I will see you soon." He patted Xavier's shoulder and left us.

Now only I and Xavier were there. I dared to look at him.

He was looking so intensely at me. He suddenly took me in his arms. He hugged me very tightly.

"What happened Xavier?" I asked.

I didn't complain about his sudden action because I needed it myself.

"I was hell scared when I saw you in that underground storage room. I hadn't had the chance to talk to you." He said desperately.

He must be worried about me. Me too. I was ready to see my maker. But he came on time.

I hugged him tighter.

"I was scared too. The thought that I could not see you again." I said.

We stayed like that for a long time. He pulled me up in his arms and carried me to the near benches. We sat there until the others came back.

"So it is decided then. We will give you 6 months to better the company's situation. Do you agree?" Mr. Benjamin asked.

"Yes sir. That would be enough to prove myself to you all." I said with a grateful smile.

At last this all hardship worked out.

They all dispersed after that.

We four were left in the room.

"Congratulations dear. All the best for the future." Xavier's dad said.

"Congratulations Anna." David said.

"Dad I will drop her to her house." Xavier said.

"Okay."

With that we all exit the company.
