《Cuore Mio》Chapter Fifty Nine - My Star

Azalea POV:
It's been about two years since Dante and I have been a relationship and a lot has changed since then.
I love him more and more everyday. We moved into yet another house together in New Orleans, and we have a dog named Bailey.
As for the mafia part of our lives, I am the Donna of the Italian mafia now. Dad, as in Elijah, is still the Don of the American mafia and Zane, is the heir.
In the last two years, Elijah, Zane and I have grown closer to each other. I started calling Elijah, 'Dad'.
It was very weird at first so I used to just start talking without saying his name or anything but later on, he treated just like his daughter.
Zane and I have a special bond now. Although he is older than me, I still treat him like he's not by calling him weird names.
I love them like my own family now, and so does everyone, even Kim, in the Italian mafia; including Alex, Noah, and Dom.
After Dmitri died, all of his assets were meant for his wife, Sofia because he never loved Zane as his own.
Dmitri never treated Zane like a son so Zane wasn't affected when he died.
So far, Sofia hasn't tried to start a war with us so I'm guessing everything's alright now.
I'm still working at Unique & Co. as a DevOps engineer, although I have been developing the game I've always wanted to. And guess what ?
I'm almost finished with it. It's a match-three puzzle video game; like Candy Crush.
But what's different is that, there is an online board game too. A user can play with their friends, destroy their game boards and steal cash from their banks !
You can even build your own board city and get coins. I'm still not sure what to name it, though.
Regarding all of our friends, we still hang out with each other. Maybe not as much as we used to, but we still do.

Alex and Kim started dating each other only a month after Dante and I did.
Dom introduced his now, fiancé, Mia to the whole group. They were a little bummed because he hadn't told them earlier.
Nonetheless, all of them still supported their relationship.
Turns out, both Noah as well as Zane are gay. Yup. They started dating a few months ago and now both of them are travelling all around the world with each other. They're so cute.
Dante said that he was taking me out for dinner tonight so here I am, in our bedroom, dressing myself up.
Although we sleep with each other every night, we haven't done it yet. I want to wait till marriage.
It's not that I don't want to; it's just that I want to wait so that I experience love at it's purest form.
Dante doesn't have a problem with it and respects my choice. He hasn't pushed me to do anything and I'm more than grateful for that.
Anyway, I am wearing a mid-thigh length, rose gold dress with frills on the shoulders as well as the hem of the dress. It's so pretty and fits me perfectly.
Then I blow dried my hair, leaving it down and letting it cascade down to my waist. As much as I love the look of highlights in my hair, I would never change the way it looks.
After I did that, I did just a little of makeup that consisted of concealer, neutral eyeshadow, and lip gloss.
When I finished dressing up, I put on beige one inch heels and came out of the room.
Since Dante is still the CEO of Romano Industries, he has a lot of work to do.
So he said that he would be waiting outside the house. Normally, we dress up and leave together.
Leaving Bailey, our dog, in the hands of Estella, the housekeeper and also a mother-like figure to me and Dante; I came out of the house.
A few months back, Estella came back to New Orleans because her son, Matteo was fully healed from the accident he had. I've met him quite a few times now.

As I came out of the house, I was met with the sight of my boyfriend. I took this time to drool over my man.
He was wearing a white buttoned up dress shirt that was folded till his elbows with navy blue trousers.
Dante still looked as handsome as the first day I met him. His olive green eyes scanned over my body; like he was taking in my appearance.
I walked towards him and pecked him on the lips. "How was your day ?"
"It was boring. Alex came in today because he wanted to talk. He said he wanted to surprise Kim with a new apartment for themselves. " He replied, wrapping his arms around my waist.
Although it had been two years, I still felt butterflies come alive in my belly every time we touched. "They're so cute together." I said, thinking of the time I had threatened Alex saying that if he ever broke her heart I would break his jaw.
Best friend, or not, nobody hurts Kim and gets away with it.
"Come, let's go." He said, opening the door for me. After getting into the car, I blasted music and started singing.
Normally, Dante would do the same with me but tonight he didn't.
When I asked him about it, he just told me that he didn't feel like it. I had a feeling that something was wrong but didn't push it.
Later on, after dinner, we decided to walk in the park. It was the only place that was quiet and peaceful, away from the paparazzi and pretty much the whole city since no one ever came here.
While walking, Dante suddenly exclaimed, "Oh, look ! A shooting star."
Excitedly, I looked up at the night sky but I didn't find one. "Where is it ? I don't see one."
As I asked that question, I turned around but didn't find him standing next to me.
Instead he was kneeling down, on one knee with a small box in his hand.
NO FREAKING WAY !
"Azalea Catalina Martinez, will you make me the happiest man alive by marrying me ?" Dante asks, looking right at me.
I had no words. Yes ! I wanted to say but all I could do was nod my head at him rapidly.
He smiled and stood up, removing the ring from the box and taking my hand in his, he slid it onto the ring finger of my left hand.
Before I could register what was happening, my lips were on his. I love Dante with all of my heart and would love to be his wife.
Soon enough, I was pulled into his arms; us hugging each other like there was no tomorrow.
"I love you, my wife-to-be." He whispered, resting his forehead on mine.
"I love you too, my husband-to-be." I replied, doing the same.
"You know, you were right; two years ago when you said that Stellina didn't actually mean a meatball." He said.
My eyes widened in surprise. I didn't actually think that I was right. "What does it mean then ?"
He interlocked my left hand with his right one, making the ring glint in the light. "It means little star."
It was only then, that I saw the actual design of the ring. It was a sliver ring with a plain band but instead of a normal diamond, it had a star-shaped diamond.
"When the sky is dark, you light my world. You're my star. I can't give you the sky but here's a star instead." He explained.
I couldn't hold my tears of joy anymore. I let it all out, hugging him tight, like he would slip away if I didn't. "I love you so much, Dante. Your're my moon. If you weren't lighting up my life, I wouldn't shine without you."
"I love you too, Azalea."

The Last Orellen is a long, character-focused progression fantasy set in a vast universe about a boy's journey to become a powerful mage. Reviews are deeply appreciated. Please do not repost my work elsewhere without my written permission. What type of reader is this book for? You might enjoy The Last Orellen if you like... Clever and resourceful protagonists. Big fantasy worlds. Multiple cultures, lots of characters, many different types of magic--this story is expansive rather than closely focused on a narrow storyline. Progression fantasy that takes its time. Our main character will be progressing through magical ranks, but this is going to be a lengthy story. If you're more about the journey than the destination, this might be the book for you. [participant in the Royal Road Writathon challenge]

Authors Notes: I consider this to be a comming-of-age Sword and Sorcery story based mostly on the style of classic western fantasies. So if that's your thing then I encourage you to take a peek. Something I want to mention though is that the main character starts of pretty wimpy, and that might not be your thing. That being said, if you stick with him he's got a long way to grow. Also, while this version of the story is meant to be fully readable, more dicerning readers may want to wait until I move out of rough draft phase. There may be some inconsistancies with character and plot while I am still in the rough draft phase. I'm sorry for this, but this is my first web novel and from what I've read the best way to get a good novel out is to write write write, and then edit ruthlessly after you're finished with the book, so that's the plan I'm going to follow. Again, this is a rough draft. Everything you are reading is subject to change, including the name, title, and cover photo. This may no longer be the case once I've decided I know where this fiction is going and I have a reasonable understanding of the characters and their behavior. You're reading what comes off my keyboard as it's made, with very limited editing. There will be mistakes in the text. I do a quick spell check to take out the worst of the errors, but there will be some I miss. You can point them out in the comments if they are particularly confusing or glaring and I will try to fix them, however I am not overly concerned about minor errors as this is not the final draft by any means.
