《Cuore Mio》Chapter Forty Nine - Hacked

"How do you know you can believe what he said ?" Kim said, playing with her hair.
"I guess I just have to. Right now, I haven't heard anything that conflicted with what Elijah said so I have no reason not to believe him." I sighed.
"What about the necklace ?" She asked, referring to the one that Elijah had given me before the explosion, two weeks back. "Have you been able to open the locket yet ?"
"No, I haven't. Buuutt, I did notice one thing." I said, dragging the word 'but'. "There is an engraving on the necklace. It has random numbers on it."
"His phone number ?" Kim's voice held uncertainty.
"There are too many digits for it to be a phone number." I said, thinking of the necklace around my neck.
From the day that the explosion happened, I've been feeling this void in my heart.
So, I started wearing it. It could be a tracking device, but I don't care.
All I want is a family, I want a mother's love, a father's love; maybe even the love of a sibling.
But I don't mean a significant other because I have Dante, I mean a real, happy family. One day, Azalea, one day.
It's the next day. Dante had to visit the warehouse to check up on things and called Alex on the way.
Since Kim is Alex's PA, she works on weekends too.
When he said that he was leaving to come meet us, she vouched to come too; which brings us to the present.
Kim and I are in the room that Dante and I stayed in for a while, talking to each other.
"Do you think he's alive ?" Kim asked, sitting up from the bed we were lazing around on.

"I don't know...I mean..." I was cut off by Dom's shouting.
"We're being hacked ! Come to Dante's office." was all he said before leaving the room.
"What the hell ?" Kim shouted and soon both us ran to where everyone was.
When we entered, I saw Noah was sitting at the desk in the office.
Dante was standing next to Noah and Dom was standing a little away from them.
Alex was sitting on the couch with his legs up on the coffee table.
"Someone's trying to hack into our system. I'm trying to hold them out but I will need more time; time we don't have." Noah explained, furiously typing the familiar codes on the keyboard in front of him.
"How ? We have a massive firewall. Blocked ports, encrypted traffic, intrusion detection, everything !" I exclaimed.
"I have no idea how they even got into server." Noah mumbled.
"Have you tried entering through cell backup on his smart-home control and accessing his camera and alarms ?" I asked, pulling a chair to sit next to him.
"Yeah, I did. It's not going through." He replied.
"It's Liam. He's using the codes that I created for security systems when I was working there." I pointed out.
"Great ! So we're literally trying to stop our own codes. Nice." Dom said, craning his neck to see the screen.
"Move over." I told Noah. He quickly moved without questioning me.
I rested my fingers on the keyboard and closed my eyes, taking a deep breath.
As soon as I started typing on the keyboard, I felt myself enter into a whole new dimension.
Now all I could see were codes in front of me.
I deleted the commands that Noah had typed in and re-typed the codes of an algorithm that I had created a few years back.

The intention of this binary code was to make the other person think that they were hacking into and collecting data from our server but instead, they were frying their own system.
It deletes data from their computer, making it like a self-destructing code.
Karma is a bitch, isn't it ?
I clicked enter a felt a smile creep onto my face when it had worked.
"Damn, girl" Noah whisper shouted.
"My girl is quite talented." Dante said, snaking his arm around my waist. His girl...
I smiled at his term of endearment for me and wrapped my arms around him.
"Could ya'll stop canoodling already ? I feel lonely." Kim whined.
"We could canoodle if you'd like." Alex smirked.
"Okay, I take that back. I'm not lonely." Kim teased.
"How did Liam get into the server ?" Noah questioned.
"Yeah, it's not like he had the passcode. It's only us who know it." Dom states.
I thought for a while. Dom does have a point. It's us and-
"It's Violet. She's been in the house almost everyday so she has the security codes.
Also, initially, when I worked at Romano industries, Dante and I had seen her snooping around. It has to be her." I conclude.
"Hmm..." Noah hums in response.
"Well, what are you waiting for ? Fire that witch." Alex tells Dante.
"No, don't." Kim says.
"We should use this to our advantage." Dante continues.
"Exactly." I said, unraveling myself from Dante's hold. "We should fake a plan, make sure that Violet comes across the plan and do the exact opposite."
"They wouldn't expect it." Dom discloses.
"Okay. What do we do ?" Noah asks, looking around. "Any ideas ?"
"Yes. I know the perfect plan." Kim said, rubbing her hands together, like how an evil person would. "They wanted data, didn't they ? Then let's give them just that."
When none of seemed to say anything, she further explained, "We give them fake information saying that Elijah is alive.
Dmitri being himself, will want to kill Elijah for revenge.
When he goes to 'find Elijah'," she said, using finger quotations, "we will call the police. And just like that, bibbidi bobbidi boo - he's in jail."
"And what if he snitches on Dante ?" Noah argued.
"I don't know. I gave an idea. You all have to figure that out." Kim shrugged.
"That's not a bad suggestion..." Dom evaluates.
"It's settled, then. We fake a plan and stop this mafia-revenge-problem; once and for all." I concluded.
