《Cuore Mio》Chapter Thirty Four - New House

Azalea's POV:
"Why can't we hear them ?" Alex asked, putting on the headphones again.
"I don't know. We're supposed to." said Dom, worriedly typing on the keyboard.
Now all of us were in Dante's office, at the base. It has been a day since the ball and the voice recorders that we had planted weren't working yet.
I hadn't seen Dmitri nor Elijah on the day of the ball. I don't think that they saw me either, but who knows.
No one besides Dante, Alex, Noah, Dom, Liam and me had known about the mission. And Dante hadn't told anyone in the mafia about it.
The thing is, Dante trusts everyone in this room and I do too. Even thinking that one of them could be a mole seems and sounds wrong.
Why would someone even risk their life by going undercover ? Maybe there's a new recruit around ? But how would they know ?
I've made our systems literally unhackable to anyone in the mafia other than ourselves.
"I'll find out what's going on." Noah said, entering the room. "You need to go to your house; the new one." He told Dante.
"It has a better security system and the same safety features of the previous one. It's also in a remote location so it will be safer for you both." Noah said, pointing at Dante and I.
"Okay, then." Dante replied.
What ? Another house ? Oh, yeah. This dude is a billionaire. My bad !
"We'll go there in the afternoon." Dante stated.
And soon enough, it was afternoon. Alex had left earlier today because, I mean, he had a company to handle too. After Dante and I had packed all our things, we put the bags in Noah's car.
I went back into the room to check if had left anything of mine but I hadn't.

I had spent so much of my time here in the last month and leaving this room did make me a little sad.
"Azalea ?" Dom asked, standing at the doorway.
"Yeah. Coming." I answered, walking closer to him.
He closed the door behind me and we walked to the car. "Bye. I'll see you soon." Dom spoke up.
"Aren't you coming ?" I asked, a little sad. Dom and I have become good friends and to be honest, he kinda feels like family.
I know, I get attached to people very fast. First Alex, then Noah and now Dom. They're all like the brothers I never had. Or maybe like the brother that I have; but can't find.....
Wrapping my arms around his torso, I gave him a hug. "I better see you in the next few weeks, Dom. Otherwise, I'll personally come here and kick your ass."
He laughed. "Don't worry, Azalea. I'll come."
"Alright. Bye." I said, pulling away from the hug.
"You too, Mister." I said, pointing at Noah. "Don't you forget about me."
"I won't." He replied. Giving him a hug too, I got into the passenger side of the car. Dante was sitting in the driver's seat.
The car ride was quite for a few moments until I spoke up, "So, where is this new house ?"
"It's quite far away. We'll reach there in an hour." Dante replied, his eyes still on the road.
"Alrighttyy then......." I said, turning the radio on. "Let's road trip !"
He chuckled and smiled at me. The whole way there, we had fun singing songs and making jokes about each other.
"We're here." Dante spoke up, turning the engine off.
When I looked outside, all I saw were a bunch of trees and bushes. It's like we were in a forest. "What do you mean ? I don't see the house." I asked, confused.

"That's the whole point of secrecy, Azalea." He sighed. "You won't see it at first sight. Look closely."
I did so but still couldn't see the house. "I don't see it, Dante."
"Maybe you need to go closer." He said and left the car, taking our bags out from the trunk.
I came out too and together, we walked towards the 'house'.
Since it wasn't that dark outside, it didn't look that scary; but it did feel like I was in a horror movie.
As we went closer, I realized that the trees were surrounding the house like a fence.
There was a gravel path leading to the house. It wasn't as big as his previous home, but that didn't even matter.
Dante opened the door and I was met with a beautiful living room. The other house as well as the base had a luxurious vibe to it but this one was different. It had a comfy vibe to it.
The living room was spacious, a small kitchen along with an island. Walking further into the house, I found two doors. Opening the first one, I was shocked.
This place reminded me of a true home. Almost like.....my apartment ? The picture frames and wallpaper were literally the same.
He did this for me ? The layout of my room was the same and even my bed was here.
Turning around, I saw Dante behind me. His hands were in the pockets of his jeans.
"I thought that maybe you missed your actual home so I did this." He explained. "Do you like it ?" He asked nervously.
"Like it ? I freaking love it." I exclaimed. Running towards him, I hugged him. "That's very nice of you. Thank you soooo much !"
"No problem." He said, hugging me back. "Do you remember that one night that I was working and you wanted to eat out ?" Dante asked, pulling away.
"Yeah, I remember." I replied. That's when I connected the dots. Don't tell me....He was doing this, wasn't he ?
"I was arranging this." He continued. "By the way, the number of locks on your apartment door are crazy ! Who needs five locks ?"
"It made me feel safe, okay ?" I defended myself.
He smiled. "Don't worry, you're not going to need those many locks in this house because I'll keep you safe."
"Awww...you're so sweet..." I cooed at him while going on my tippy-toes to mess his hair.
"Don't do that, Azalea..." Dante said, fixing his hair.
"Sorry, no can do..." I said, teasing him.

Mordheim: Servants of The Damned (A Warhammer Fantasy Fiction)
“The Great Library,” Stated the stranger with a pause. “You know of it?”“Of course I do. In the Merchant’s Quarter?”“Yes, in the Merchant’s Quarter. I have gathered that there is an… artefact of importance within its walls.” Slowly, the figure produced a rusted key from the furls of his robes and held it in a black-gloved hand. “This opens the door to its chambers. It is the grimoire of Gunnar von Krugenheim, and I believe that it would serve better in the world than locked away in a dusty room.” Behind the cursed walls of Mordheim, warbands and gangs of all stripes are embattled in constant wars for resources and power. The cursed city attracts throngs in the thousands, searching for treasures, artefacts, power, and sometimes all three. The Cult of the Hidden Brethren is no exception, and when an opportunity to extend their reach is discovered, the cultists are eager to take the opportunity. However, not all is set in stone, and soon the cultists discover that the lure of power alone may not be enough to give them the drive required to see their quest done... --- Mordheim: Servants of the Damned is a fanfiction set in the world of Warhammer Fantasy, which is not owned by me but by the company Games Workshop. This is my first true foray into fantasy writing, let alone Warhammer Fantasy, therefore any feedback is welcome. (It should be noted as well, the cover art is merely an artwork I found online and is not mine, therefore I do not lay claim to that either.)
