《Cuore Mio》Chapter Six - Don

I am working in my new office right now. It has been a few weeks since I've started working from Romano Industries. The software is taking more time than I thought it would.
The basic coding and algorithm of the software was completed. All I had to do now was desk checking, which is basically proof reading the codes you've created and complete debugging the entire software.
I wasn't sure whether Dante would want a back door for the software. I'll have to ask him.
A back door is like a trap door that's built into a software by the original programmer. It allows access to the creator to keep tabs and updates on the software.
Speaking of Dante, he has been very kind to me and we've gotten closer in these few weeks. So has Alex, at least it is not awkward now.
Everyone has been welcoming except for Snoopy, also called Violet. Every time she sees me, she says something rude but I don't take it to heart, instead, I sarcastically answer her back. Let's just say, if she didn't despise me before, she definitely does now.
I have noticed something weird about Alex and Dante, though. Sometimes when Dante gets a call, he immediately leaves.
Also, if Dante happens to have a meeting that day, Alex takes care of it. After Dante leaves, get doesn't come back to the office, he goes home directly.
And the next day, he would have bruises or cuts on his face. When I would ask him what had happened, he changes the topic.
Something is fishy.
Deciding that I needed a short walk anyway, I stood up and straightened my pencil skirt. On my way towards his office, I saw Snoopy, at her desk.
"Why are you here ?" She asks, rolling her eyes and emphasizing on the word 'you'.

This woman ! Ignoring her question, I said, "Keep rolling your eyes, maybe you'll find a brain there."
I saw her ears turning red in anger. "Nobody likes you, anyway. Plus, you're not even beautiful."
"Well, too bad. I'm not responsible for their bad taste." I answer with a smirk. "As for my looks, I'm pretty sure 90% of yours can be removed with Kleenex." I smiled and walked away, knowing I succeeded in ticking her off.
Azalea - 1
Snoopy - 0
I entered Dante's office after knocking on his door. He was standing in front of the huge window, gazing at the busy streets of New Orleans with his hands in the pockets of the Armani suit he was wearing.
I started walking closer to him and stopped when I was next to him.
"It's beautiful, isn't it ?" He asks.
"Yeah, it is." I answer.
A few seconds pass by when he snapped out of his trance.
"So, you needed something ? Or you just couldn't stay away from me ?" He says, cheekily.
"Yes, I wanted to ask whether you wanted a back door for the software or not. And no, I can stay away from you. You're too boring to be with anyway." I answer.
"Yes, create a back door." He says and pouts, but it quickly turns into a smirk as he walks towards me. Confused, I took a few steps behind, only to feel the back of knees touch the couch behind me.
Damn you, couch. I've never hated a piece of furniture as much as I do now.
When Dante reaches just a few inches in front of me, he stops. He bends down a little, his face so close to mine, I could feel the light stubble of his jaw on my cheek.

He starts tickling me out of nowhere. "Dante...s-stopp !" I manage to say in between laughs. "Are you going to say what I want you to say ?" He asks.
"No. You're still boring." I answer properly, now that he had stopped tickling me.
He starts again. "Okay, okay. You're..not..boring." I pant out.
In a low voice he whispers, "See, that wasn't hard to say now, was it?" My cheeks flush from the closeness of our bodies. I put my hands on his chest and push him away. He stumbled back a little; not expecting that.
I grabbed his tie and pull it downwards, making him bend down again.
Narrowing my eyes, I tell him, "You're going to regret doing that, Mr. Romano. I'll make sure if it."
With that, I walk out of his office before he could stop me.
After the incident, I hadn't seen Dante. I completed the coding for the back door.
It was finally time to go home. I could finish with the translation, which is re-checking the syntax in codes, at home. Since this was my first project for another company, I wanted it to be perfect. No mistakes at all.
None. Zilch. Nada. Zero.
Okay, you get the point.
I walk to his office and guess what ? I see Snoopy. She gives me a glare and says, "You look so exhausted. You don't even re-apply your lipstick, nor comb your hair throughout the day. I almost pity you." She says, stressing on the word 'almost'.
"And where's your off button ?" I asked, walking past her.
I knocked on Dante's door, but he didn't answer. I knocked again, but still, nothing. I could hear his faint voice through the door, so I opened it anyway.
There he was, sitting at his desk, with his back facing me. He was speaking, more like yelling, to someone on the phone.
"I don't care how you do it, Alex. I want Dmitri dead !" He yells into the phone. "I'm the Don of the Italian Mafia, for God's sake, I have a reputation, you know."
Wait...did I hear that correctly ?
"Also, send his head to his son, Nikolai Ivanovo, when you're done. Tell him it's an early Christmas present." He added.
Hearing this, a gasp escaped my lips.
"N-n-nikolai ?" I whisper.
At the sound, Dante snapped his head towards my direction.
Oohhh. I'm in deep shit.

The most challenging MMO ever created—that’s how they advertised it. Taglines like, “Not your granddaddy’s game,” and, “Only for the hardest of the hardcore,” had gamers going crazy. It was going to be tough, but he was ready for it. What he wasn’t ready for, was countless players having their minds hijacked and being transformed into mindless, hostile creatures filled with nothing but hate who killed anyone on sight. They called them the Bloodless. Clay’s best and only friend, Rey, moved across the country she was twelve, but they kept in touch online, playing countless games together, and when Blood Seekers was released, they were both ready to step up to the plate and face the new challenge together. But now, Rey has been taken by the plague, her mind held hostage as one of the Bloodless. A mysterious black monolith has appeared at the center of the highest level zone in the game, a place no one has even come close to. Some say it will provide us with answers. Others say it will only lead to more questions. Who’s behind all this? Why are people’s minds being taken? Will we ever get to bring them back? How many more will be lost if we stay logged in? Nothing is certain, but if there’s any chance that reaching the monolith will bring Rey back back, then Clay will do everything he can to reach it. This is Book 1 in a new series from Stephen Roark! Mhaieiyu - Arco 1: El Sindicato [Spanish]

Tales of the Willful Autonomous Nanobot Generator
Due to over-engineering and poor parenting; a nanobot generator is sent into the wider universe, ready to solve any and all problems...though probably not the way that was intended, or even hoped for. This story is a first time attempt to use a literary device I came up with, where I use 4 randomly selected songs to write short stories. As such there really won't be any cohesive story thread between chapters. If this gets traction, the likelihood for reader polls to influence the next story are high.

The Meaning of Life
It all started with that voice. One day, a slightly psychopathic teenager named Krey heard a voice in his dream. A goddess's request, a new world, the legacies of the Divine realms, the never-ending storms in the world of Salratia. With the carefree thought of "I shall live as I please~!", Krey sets out to begin his 'otaku' dream. But it is not smooth sailing. Troublesome divine entities, mortal politics and the relationship with his new companions. How could he, a former assassin and former odd-jobs part-time high school student worker (not to mention an otaku), a perfect example of a loner (though he himself doesn't seem to realize it) be able to handle this problem? "Ei! Whatever, there's still a few more centuries! I'll go travel the world in peace!" [Author here. This is my first time writing a story in RRL. Criticism is very welcome as long as it is educational and has some tips and bits of advice for me. I am still learning]
