Dear Twins

To start of with, I love you both wrote to me, in the same letter.

But...

You both found your answers in your letter as well. Having a sibling bond is awesome, being inseparable and so close to each other is something a lot of siblings, even twins, these days don't have.

But, also, maybe it's time to stop sharing everything. Red, your boyfriend only spends time with you when you're available, and the only time you're available, you're with your twin. Blue, your boyfriend also craves some alone time and even asked you to move in with him.

I highly recommend that you both move on with life. One stay with their boyfriend, the other move out with theirs, meet up once or twice a week to catch up, it's not going to destroy your sibling bond. With something as strong as that, it never will be destroyed.

Best of Luck, R.

I saved and emailed the document to Jan, relieved that I finished that. I rang through to my assistant and asked for my lunch to be ordered as I flipped through to another letter.

I was only half interested when a frown came across my face as I looked up, seeing Ryder at the door frame. He was leaning on it, arms crossed, a orange envelope in one hand.

"Ryder." I sighed out as I placed the letter down and took my glasses off. "Come in."

Ryder closed the door behind him and gave me the envelope. "It's starting all over again." He said to me. I felt confused as I opened the envelope and tipped it out on my desk.

It was photos. I put my glasses on, looking at them. "Is this some sort of joke?" I looked back at Ryder.

"They were sent to me about an hour ago."

I looked through the photos. They were all me. At my house, my door open in each one, a different man in each photo.

One was Luke, another Ashley, but the other four, I didn't know. "These aren't true." I frowned deeper.

Ryder put his hand in his pocket and pulled out a piece of paper and handed it to me.

Once a cheater, always a cheater.

"Plus this." Ryder added, pulling out another piece of paper. My eyes scanned over it, my jaw slacked and open as I reread the lines.

It was a paternity test. Ryder Anderson came up negative.

"That's not true." I whispered as I read it again.

"Is Rowan my son?" Ryder asked me, his voice dark and harsh. "Rhea?"

I looked up at Ryder. "Yes." I answered. "But, I'm not doing this here." I picked up my bag and shoved all the photos and papers into the envelope.

"Are you lying?"

"No!" I turned to Ryder. I could feel tears pricking my eyes. "Rowan is your son. Just come home and I'll prove it."

I walked out off my office, bumping immediately in to Luke. "Luke! You're back!"

Luke smiled at me as he helped me keep my balance. "Yeah, I couldn't wait for an answer. As soon as I landed, I had to come back."

I felt a pang of guilt hit me. "I'm sorry, Luke. I can't talk right now. I have to go."

"It's only noon." Luke looked behind me, seeing Ryder.

"I know. I'm sorry. It's my son, I need to go." I urged as I stepped past him, ignoring any more protests from Luke as I ran out off the building.

Ryder followed me home. I wanted to go to the shops, get some groceries, but now wasn't the appropriate time. I jumped straight out off my car and went straight to the front door, unlocking it. Ryder pulled up on the gutter, taking his time. I saw how dark his face was and I knew he was questioning me and everything I have said to him.

I dropped my bag as soon as I stepped in to the door, frozen.

"Oh crap." I swore. My house was trashed.

Ryder stopped behind me, looking at the mess. "What happened?"

I slowly went inside, looking around me. Nothing was missing, yet, just a mess. I looked in every room, finding the back door was forced open. Everything that I owned was still here. My jewellery, my laptop, anything worth of value, was still here.

"Is anything missing?"

"Its a distraction." I whispered to myself. "Whoever was here, they weren't robbing me, they were looking for something."

I went to the kitchen and confirmed my suspicion. The bottom kitchen drawer, where I keep my paper work was broken, the floor scattered in papers.

"What do you mean a distraction?"

I turned to Ryder, concern written on my face. "That DNA test. You said you never took one."

"I didn't. Maybe I should have before I got too involved."

I ignored his remark. "But I only asked you about it because your mother said you did get one to Vincent."

Ryder frowned even more. "Are you saying that the document is forged."

"Yes. And the photos." I cried. "It's all fake!"

"How would you know?" Ryder snapped at me as I went to the bookshelf I had. I pulled out the old book, holding it my chest, thankful that it wasn't touched.

"You still have that?" Ryder asked in astonishment.

"The Social Animal. Yes, I do." I gently opened it. I was three pages in when I came across the first loose piece of paper.

"Here is one item of proof." I said as I gave him the folded paper.

"Dear Ryder.

I've been hurt before, but nothing like this. Your accusations towards me where mean and hurtful, since I didn't cheat on you. But it's been 3 months since then and, I can't say if you'll ever read this but if you do, it's for the greater good. It means something has happened to me. That I've died. At this point of time, I'm thirteen weeks pregnant. You kicked me out 12 weeks ago, we got divorced four weeks ago. I found out being pregnant last fortnight.

It's scary and unplanned. But I'm keeping the baby. If I can't have you, at least I can have a piece of you with me all the time.

I've decided that unless I decide to forgive you, I'm not telling you unless you see this. I can't go back to the heartbreak. It nearly killed me. I killed my emotions every night at the bottom of a tequila bottle for a couple weeks, before finding out about the baby.

I am going to protect myself, especially from you. I will also protect this child from you. If it's a girl, her name will be Rayne Marilyn Matthews. If it's a boy, then Rowan Dean Matthews. I know I hated the name, but like I said, a piece of you.

I'm sorry I wasn't a good enough wife, even though I didn't cheat. But the only other explanation was you got bored, just like your brother always said to me. I'm sorry my love for you couldn't keep you to me.

Love, Rhea."

Ryder reread the letter as I waited patiently. The house was a mess and I really wanted to clean it up, but I felt this was more important.

"I know you didn't have an affair, Rhea. I know the photos all those years ago were forged just like I believe these ones are."

"Whoever took them believes we are back together." I stated as I turned a couple more pages. "After that weekend away, it got me thinking, Ryder. You deserve a paternity test."

"How do you explain the one I showed you?"

"It's fake, Ryder!" I yelled at him. "Fake. And I know it is because if I ever had to come to a crossroad like this, I decided I needed proof. I got the damn test done!"

Ryder stepped back as I turned another page in the book. "Everything that involved you, went in this book."

"A text book?"

I ignored the remark as I took out the most recent entry. "Here." I gave the paper to Ryder.

"It's positive."

"Yes. That's why I know this one is fake." I roared as I slammed the book shut. "I've gotta clean this up." I moaned as I ran my hands through my hair.

"When did you get this done?"

"A couple weeks ago." I told him as I started cleaning. "It was just in case you were having doubts." I wasn't accusing him, but I did it on the sly, just in case and now I'm glad I did.

Ryder came to me and pulled me upright, embracing me. "Thank you."

I was stunned. "No." I said slowly. "Thank you. For listening to me." I stepped away and continued on what I was doing. "I'll clean this up. Can you get Rowan please. I want him home."

Ryder agreed and left, as I stacked items, sorting them out and cleaned up. I'm assuming, whoever did this, was looking for these. Then I remembered the other paper I was meant to give Ryder. Rowan's birth certificate that I had managed to fix up. The one with Ryder's name on it as the father. The one that states that Rowan is an Anderson now, not Matthews.

There was a knock on the door and I turned to the open door to see Luke.

"Luke, this isn't a good time." I told him. Luke looked around at the mess.

"What happened?"

"I don't know."

"Have you called the police?" He asked me, stepping carefully over the stuff.

"Not yet. Nothing has been stolen though." I answered as I picked up a smashed frame. "Probably some bored teenagers." I turned back to Luke. "I know you want to talk, and we need to. This isn't the best time, but it needs to be done."

I can't believe I'm doing this. "Luke, you're a great guy. But I can't take the job in New York." I told him as I brushed some hair off my face. "Or the newspaper." I added.

"That's fine. I hope I wasn't pressuring you in to it."

I gasped at him. "No! You haven't and I appreciate that, I really do. But, I don't think we are working out." I grimaced.

"What do you mean? Us?"

I let out a breathe. "Unfortunately, yes. I know I was happy at this pace, but truth be told, I'm not. I know what I want, but, I believe you were just someone that helped me see that. I'm sorry Luke, if you were expecting more from me, I just don't have anything to give right now."

Luke pouted as he nodded.

"I'm sorry, Luke."

"No, it's okay. It was one of the reasons why I wanted to talk. I also realised it was a bit too slow."

I gave him a small smile. "I hope it won't affect my job at the magazine?"

Luke embraced me as I held him to me. "No. It won't." I felt even more relieved.

"I will really like for us to be friends. We do get along great. Maybe we were meant to be friends, not lovers."

"I hope so."

I smiled as I stepped out of his embrace. "I'll see you around?"

Luke smiled at me, leaving my messy house.

I took a minute to have a small cry over it before wiping the tears away, finishing what I started.

What was meant to be a twenty minute absence turned to fifty minutes and I was starting to stress. What was taking him so long? I picked up my phone and rang Ryder.

"Rhea!"

"What's wrong? Where are you?" The worry in my voice was thick as I waited for Ryder to answer.

"Rowan isn't here."

My heart stopped. "Don't joke with me." I managed to say.

"Would I joke? The centre said that someone used my name and ID to take him."

I dropped the phone as I collapsed on to the ground. My world has stopped. Someone has taken my baby.
