《The Claim ✔️ *Editing*》44. New Reality

I stared down at my baby girl lovingly. As Titus draped his arm over my shoulder, a knowing smile appeared. I felt his wolf puff up with pride and joy as he kept his eyes glued to our pup.
I was in labor for 13 hours. Yeah 13. I didn't have our baby girl until the evening. Although I loved my pup, I knew I would never be going through that again. Three days later and my body was still a little sore. I went ahead and let Titus name our pup and he went with the name Nara. I thought is suited her nicely. She had Titus's dark brown hair and his hazel eyes. She was a complete replica of her father.
Her eyes began to slowly open as I quietly breastfed her.
"My girls." Titus said adoringly.
My thoughts quickly shifted to Kohl. "How was Kohl's first day of school?" I felt horrible that I couldn't see Kohl off to his first day of school. He had been staying with Zander and Rachel while we were in the hospital. But Titus left this morning to take him to his first day.
"He froze up at first, but it didn't take him long to settle in."
"That's great." I finished breastfeeding Nara then stared at Titus. "That's all you big daddy." I said as I handed Nara to him. He grabbed a white cloth then began patting her back gently.
"I want to see my boy." I said as I settled into the hospital bed. "I'll have my mother bring him after he eats dinner." I nodded then grabbed my phone. I sent my dad and brother a quick text. I had been keeping them updated since I had Nara.
Snapping a quick picture of Titus and Nara, I sent it to the family group chat we shared.
"That was a good one." Titus said as a big burp escaped our pup's mouth. I placed my phone down then watched as Titus sat down and tried to rock Nara to sleep.
"Did you bring the stuff?" I asked Titus, my tone going serious.
"This isn't a drug deal Brinn." He rolled his eyes. "It's in the bag." He nodded in the direction of the bag.
I got out of bed and walked towards the overnight bag Titus had brought with him. I pulled out the jar of Nutella and a spoon then sat back on the bed. "Mmm. I missed this." I said as I placed the spoon full of Nutella in my mouth.
I hadn't been able to eat Nutella throughout my entire pregnancy because Nara was just not having it. The one time I did try some I ended up throwing it up a few seconds later. It was horrible.
Nara had finally settled into a deep sleep after about 20 minuets. But I knew all to well that wouldn't last long. Titus placed her in her bassinet, then sat back in the chair. "This is crazy, we're actually parents."
I chuckled, "I know right."
His face fell as he got lost in his thoughts. "You know, I'm really sorry things didn't start off the best for us." I groaned, not wanting to have this conversation. "No Brinn I need to say this." I turned my head to the side, locking eyes with his. "I made a lot of mistakes by you, and deep down I'll always know I don't deserve you."

"Titus don't." I said, feeling the tears form in my eyes. He stood and walked towards me. "I don't want to make you cry so I'll stop, but just know I love you." He grabbed my hand and placed a kiss on my knuckles. "I love you too." His eyes lit up as he smiled.
Kohl, Rachel and Zander entered the room a few minutes later. Kohl ran towards me before I pulled him into a hug. Rachel held Nara in her arms as she and Titus had a heated conversation in Spanish. Rachel did most of the talking while Titus just stood and muttered a few words here and there.
I furrowed my eyebrows in confusion. "I hate when they do that. They know I can't understand half the shít they say. But Rachel insisted that Titus learn Spanish to take after her Colombian roots." Zander said as he stood next to me and Kohl.
I chuckled as he pulled me into a hug. "How are you feeling." He asked.
"I'm okay, just ready for things to get back to normal." He chuckled at my reply. "Good luck with that. You have a lot of restless nights ahead of you." I groaned.
Kohl climbed into the bed and sat next to me as he showed me some of the drawings he did in class. "That's really good Kohl. Do you like your teacher?" He nodded, "Yeah she's nice. I got to play with Ellie at recess today." I smiled then pulled him to my chest in a warm hug.
"Kohl do you want to hold Nara?" Rachel asked as she walked towards us. He nodded his head eagerly.
Rachel carefully placed a sleeping Nara into Kohl's arms. "Make sure you keep her head up." I said as I repositioned his arm.
We all couldn't help but smile at the scene before us. A yawn escaped Nara's lips before a smile replaced it. "She's smiling!" Kohl shouted excitedly.
Uh oh...
Nara began to cry as she was woken out of her slumber. "Oh uh, I think I broke her." I had to bite my lip to stop myself from laughing at Kohl's statement. "No, you didn't break her Kohl." I reassured him as I placed her pacifier in her mouth.
"You guys are already getting her stuck on that dámn pacifier." Rachel scolded. Titus just shrugged his shoulders. "Hey it keeps her quiet."
Rachel only shook her head. "You're going to regret that when she's 5 and still sucking on a pacifier. It happened to you."
Titus's eyes went wide. "Mom I told you to never bring that up again." We all began laughing as Titus's face turned red with embarrassment.
Rachel, Zander, and Kohl left a few minutes later to get Kohl ready for bed. Titus sat in the chair with Nara on his chest, both of them fast asleep. A tear fell down my cheek as happiness and joy filled me.
I laid down on the bed then wrapped the blankets around me, ready for sleep.

Nara had us up all night, as usual. Every two hours she was either ready to eat or needed a diaper change. It's was around noon when I was getting checked out of the hospital. I changed into the clothes Titus brought me. A pair of black leggings and a loose fitted pale blue shirt.

Throwing my hair into a messy bun, I grimaced at my appearance in the mirror. I basically looked like someone who had about 4 hours of sleep. Which was accurate. I slid on my black Nike slides then left the bathroom.
I'm the room, Titus cuddled and shushed Nara to try to get her to stop crying. I ran my hand over my face and groaned in frustration. "Just give her the pacifier."
He locked eyes with me then sighed. "Fine." He placed it into her mouth and the room instantly got silent.
"You ready?" I nodded as he grabbed Nara's and I's bags.
We weren't that far from the house but Titus insisted on driving there. Once we reached the house, Rachel and Maci walked out with bright smiles on their face. Titus was grabbing Nara out of her car seat and our bags as I walked towards them.
"Not to be rude, but what are you guys doing here?" I really wasn't trying to be rude in all honesty. But I was up all night with a crying baby and the only thing I wanted to do was eat and lay out on my bed.
"We never showed you Nara's nursery silly." Maci said before a giggle escaped.
I mentally face palmed myself. "Oh man, it completely slipped my mind." Titus joined me as the words left my mouth. Rachel opened the door for Titus and I before we entered. We muttered a thanks and walked towards the nursery.
As I went to turn the knob, Rachel placed herself in front of the door. My hand dropped to my side on instinct. "Before we go in, I just want you to know we put a lot of time into this nursery, so if you don't like it just say you do."
Titus just as annoyed as I was finally spoke up, "Just open the door Mom." She narrowed her eyes at him then turned to open the door.
My eyes went wide with shock as I took in the room. I wasn't sure what I expected but it definitely out did my expectations. The room consisted of creme furniture and lilac accents. "Wow this is...amazing." I said.
"You really like it?" Rachel asked. I nodded excitedly. Titus walked over to the crib in the middle of the room and carefully placed our pup in it. "It's really nice you two, thanks."
"Yeah thanks guys." I added as I stood next to Titus. "We added a TV, just in case Nara gets restless and you don't want to keep running back and forth." Maci said, pointing to the flat screen in front of the lilac couch.
We thanked them again before they left to give us some space to settle in. As we were about to leave Nara's room, her loud cries echoed. I took a deep breath then smiled sweetly at Titus. "It's your turn big daddy." He groaned in frustration. "Brinn..." I giggled then walked away, leaving him to deal with our pup's diaper change.
I walked down the stairs ready to raid the fridge for food when the front door burst open. Kohl raced through the door then stopped at the doorway as his eyes scanned the room. His smiled widen when his eyes landed on mine. "I got an A on my spelling test!" He said excitedly before racing towards me.
"Congrats champ." I pulled him into a warm hug. "You hungry? Cause I sure am?" He nodded, "Can I have a peanut butter and jelly sandwich?" He asked politely.
I smiled, knowing I could definitely make that with no hassle. "Sure. Go get changed while I make it." He nodded then turned towards the stairs.
I pressed play on my speaker and let the music of my alternative playlist fill the kitchen. I made Kohl and I's sandwiches then placed it on the table. Kohl came back down wearing black basketball shorts and a white t-shirt. I placed a glass of milk in front of him as he slid into his chair.
Sitting next to him, we both dug into our food in silence. Titus walked down the stairs holding Nara as she screamed her lungs out. I stilled mid bite and glared at Titus.
"I think she wants to eat." He said sheepishly.
I sighed then nodded, outreaching my hand to grab my pup. He placed her in my arms as I stood. He took my seat next to Kohl and asked him about his day.
I walked up the stairs as Nara squirmed in my arms. Once in her room I sat in the lilac couch and turned on the TV as I breastfed my irritable pup. I sighed in relief once her cries died down.
Her hazel eyes stared up at me in curiosity. I smiled and ran my hand over her cheek. After she was done eating I stood and paced the room as I patted her back lightly, trying to get her to burp. That didn't take long as a burp came a few minutes later.
"Okay little one, get some sleep for momma okay?" I said as I placed her into the crib. I felt Titus before he wrapped his arm around my waist. He placed a kiss on my neck as he stared down at our pup over my shoulder. "We made one beautiful pup." He whispered into my ear.
Nara's eyes struggled to stay open as sleep threatened to come. We stayed there watching her until her eyes finally closed. Titus placed a kiss on her forehead then grabbed my hand, turning me to face him. He placed soft kisses down my neck as his hand trailed down my back. I low moan escaped my lips, causing me to snap out of it.
I cleared my throat, "This is what got us here in the first place." I said eying him suspiciously. "Sorry." He said with a sheepish smile.
I placed a kiss on his cheek then headed towards our bedroom to finally get some much needed sleep.
