《The Claim ✔️ *Editing*》6. Work Flow

I snapped my eyes open when I started to feel a hand on my shoulder. I stare into Titus's hazel eyes and growl. He held his hands up and chuckled. "Sorry, I keep forgetting you're not a morning person."

I rolled my eyes and slowly sat up. I brought my knees to my chest and rested my head against my headboard. "Get dressed and meet me in my office."

I took a deep breath and nodded. "Fine." He ruffled my hair then stood, walking towards my door.

When I heard the click of the door, finalizing his departure. I stood and walked towards my duffle bag. Staring down at it, I debated on an outfit.

I should really unpack. But I'm not.

I decided on a pair of light grey joggers and a loose fitted t-shirt I grabbed my clothes and walked into my bathroom. I brushed my teeth and washed my face. Once I was done I threw my hair into a messy bun. Slipping on my clothes, I walked out of the bathroom. I grabbed my shoes and put them on.

The walk to the pack house was fairly short. I got several hellos from various pack members.

The second I entered the pack house I followed Titus's scent until I was standing in front of his office. His office was on the third floor. No one was allowed up here without his permission. It was reserved specifically for the Alpha and Luna. There were bedrooms up here, but since Titus moved out they were left vacant.

I reached out and twisted the knob. The moment the door opened Titus's scent invaded my nostrils. He was typing furiously on his computer, I slumped down in one of the chairs in front of his desk.

After several minutes of silence, I decided to speak. "So....?"

He furrowed his brows then stared at me, confused by my question. "What?"

I rolled my eyes. "Titus you told me to meet you in your office, remember?"

His eyes widened as he remembered our earlier conversation. "Oh yeah."

I laughed at his forgetfulness. "So your tutor sent over some of your school work." My face dropped.

So much for getting out of school work.

He held out my textbook and my MacBook. I grabbed both items and placed them in my lap. "I left these things at home for a reason."

He tilted his head. "Did you really think your father was going to let you leave your school work at home?"

I rolled my eyes. "I guess not." I muttered in annoyance.

When Titus started back typing I stood. "Where are you going?" He asked without taking his eyes off his screen. "To do my work...duh."

Ha! More like play game pigeon, but he doesn't have to know that.

He scoffed as his eyes met mine. "Brinn sit down."

So much for eight ball.

"I'll have breakfast delivered." This peeked my interest. "Breakfast?" He knows me all too well.

"Yes, now sit." He pointed to the chair I was previously occupying.

Sighing, I sat back down then opened my textbook and began drowning in the Laws of Physics.

About twenty minutes later a small petite girl entered the room holding a tray of food. She had dark brown eyes and light brown hair that reached her shoulders. She placed the tray down on a table to the right of us. She faced Titus then bowed "Alpha."

Titus tensed the moment she entered, but kept a straight face. She smirked then turned her attention towards me. "You must be Brinn. I'm Lily." She held out her hand.

"Nice to meet you." I said as I shook her hand.

Before she could get another word out Titus interrupted her. "That will be all Lily." She shot him one last glance before she left the room.

Okay note to self, Titus definitely doesn't like Lily.

As soon as I hear the door click. Titus and I both visibly relax. I didn't know why but I felt an overwhelming sense of tension between the two of them. And it didn't feel good...at all.

I walked over to the table and grabbed a plate of food. I poured myself some coffee in a white mug. Once my coffee was to my liking I sat back down and dug into my food.

We ate our food in a comfortable silence. He would make calls on his phone while I occasionally glanced at the words in my textbook. We worked like that for the rest of the day.

Ryan eventually made an appearance. He and Titus were discussing something that didn't interest me. I zoned out after the first two seconds, looking at the clock plastered on Titus's wall. When it read 5:13, I knew it was time for me to go.

I snuck out when they weren't paying attention. That conversation must have been serious if they didn't notice me leaving. Or they did notice me and just didn't care. Either way, I was free from the overwhelming amount of work that got thrown in my corner today.

I was walking down the stairs when I saw Alex talking with Rachel. They shushed their conversation when they saw me approaching. I arched my eyebrows. "Oh no don't stop your SECRETIVE conversation on my accord."

Alex rolls her eyes. "Hello Brinn."

"Hi guys." I said as I crossed my arms over my chest.

Rachel links her arms with mine. "Let's go for a walk hun."

I eyed her suspiciously, but nodded. "Okay." We said our goodbyes to Alex then begin our walk.

"Are you excited about your birthday?" I shrugged my shoulders. "I guess. It's just another day in my opinion." Rachel halted her steps. "Oh no Brinn. Turning seventeen is a very important moment in a wolf's life. You will finally discover your wolf. And maybe even your mate."

"I'm excited to get my wolf. But as for my mate, I will find him when I find him. I'm in no rush." Wolves spent years of their life searching for their mates and I thought it was completely foolish. I'd rather stay at home as watch Netflix all day to be completely honest.

She shook her head. "Understandable, but just be prepared for anything. Things happen when we least expect it." We continued walking through the halls.

I nodded, in hopes to bring his conversation to an end. "I will take that into consideration."

"You know when Zander had his first shift. The moment he looked into my eyes he knew I was his mate. He marked me on site. We completed the mating bond that evening."

I narrowed my eyes at her. "Wow, you guys wasted no time."

She chuckled at my words. "No, we didn't."

After my talk with Rachel, we headed into the dining room for dinner. I sat in my usual spot next to Alex. Everyone was waiting for Titus to arrive so they could begin eating. My stomach started growling, so I was about to say fúck it and start eating. But right as I reached for my fork the doors opened, revealing a rather rough looking Titus. He looked drained.

He took his seat then stared at the empty seat on his right. A deep sigh escaped his lips. He quickly redirected his attention to his food and finally took the first bite.

I started digging into my food the moment the food entered his mouth. I couldn't understand how the moon goddess would be so cruel and not allow Titus's mate to make an appearance. You could tell it was taking a toll on him and the pack.

My appetite quickly subsided at the thought of Titus being upset over his mate.
