My body moves to the beat. My legs and chest burning but it's nothing compared to how brilliant I feel right now.

The dance routine that I've been working on for two months is finally finished and dancing to it gives me such a thrill.

I'm such a dance nerd...

When the song comes to an end, I wipe my forehead with a towel and let out a breath. My body is exhausted after two hours of dancing and I just want to sleep.

Packing up my stuff I head out the door and go down the stairs. Ever since the incident where I fell down in front of Axel, it takes me about five minutes to get down them

Better safe than sorry.

When I reach the bottom, I wave goodbye to the receptionist and walk out of the building.

Walking onto the street, it feels as though a bucket of fresh air has been poured over me, infiltrating through every pore making me feel ridiculously refreshed.

I take about five steps forward in the direction of my dorm room, with the full intent to sleep the day away, before I hear footsteps behind me.

Turning round, I see Axel jogging behind me.

Shirtless.

I actually don't think he owns any tops.

His chest is painted with sweat, indicating that he must be close to finishing his run. He's wearing blue, loose Nike shorts and nothing else.

I stop walking and begin to smile as Axel gets closer.

His devastatingly blue eyes widen as he recognises me. He merely nods in my direction before continuing to jog pass me.

What the hell was that?

••••

"You reek of sweat." Emma complains as she spins round on my office chair.

"Yeah, did the gym crawl up and vomit on you or something?" Rob asks, as he eyebrows furrow.

"Wow, you guys are so supportive!" I say in a high-pitched voice. Clapping my hands slowly to show my sarcasm.

Dropping my bag on my bed, I turn and point at Emma. "What are you doing here?" I ask.

"I'm smart and he can't write an essay to save his life." She shrugs as she turns back to the open laptop on the desk.

"You're still on that?!" I ask, my eyebrows raising in surprise.

"Not all of us are meant for essays. Some of us are meant for shopping instead, okay?" Rob argues back, a frown of his face.

"Okay!" I laugh as I walk into the bathroom to take a shower.

••••

Later that afternoon, Rob and I lay on our own beds both staring up at the ceiling.

"At least you have that essay done." I suggest, trying to keep the mood high.

"Yeah, but we already know that." Rob says as he rolls onto his side and leans his head against his hand. "What we don't know, is what is happening with you and Axel."

"Me and Axel?" I ask, trying to look innocent.

I'm so screwed.

"Yes. What's happening, you looked rather cosy in the sleepover." He smirks.

"First of all, I don't even know what happened that night and second of all I think Axel is ignoring me now." I shrug, trying to not be affected by it.

"Now? What happened?" Rob urges.

"Who are you? An inspector?" I laugh guiltily.

"Basically, Cupcake. Now tell me what happened." Rob demands.

"Okay, so at the party we kissed and that was fun but now Axel's ignoring me and I'm not sure why." I groan, covering my face with my hands.

"Blue balls?" Rob asks, his face serious.

I take a pillow form my bad and throw it at his face. "Idiot." I huff. "And no, I doubt it."

"Yeah, but you don't know it." Rob raises his eyebrows, now grinning at me.

"I do know it and I also know that nothing is probably going to come out of this."

••••

The next day I wake up on the wrong side of the bed.

Literally.

I hit my head off the wall and now I've got a bright red mark on my forehead.

After arriving five minutes late and getting shouted at in front of the whole class, I'm dying to leave.

"Okay, you can pack up." Miss Poppy's voice says as I come out of my daydream.

How I made it to senior year is beyond me.

I grab my books and run out of the room, out into the courtyard. Grumbling the whole way over my dislike of Tuesday's. I go and sit down on the bench, deciding to wait there until the cafeteria is ready for lunch.

Just as I begin to put my headphones in, my phone begins to ring.

Axel is calling.

"Hello?" I ask, my voice cautious.

Why is Axel phoning me?

"Hey, I need to meet up with you."

"Why?" I ask, completely forgetting my manners.

Like I had any in the first place.

"Wow, I can feel the excitement from here!" His voice is high pitched and girly before turning serious. "Because I need to talk to you. C'mon Skylar, I thought you were smart."

"I am smart, it's you who's stupid." I retort, sounding like a five year old.

Axel lets out a breath and I can picture him running hand through his hair. "Just meet me?"

"Where?"

"I'll pick you up."

••••

I sit and read a book for about five more minutes until I hear footsteps coming towards me.

Looking up I spot Axel, wearing light blue skinny jeans and a white t-shirt. His cheeks are flushed and his face is in a smile.

"Hey." I say as I stand up from the bench.

"Sorry I'm late." Axel apologises, a guilty look on his face. "Football practice."

"It's fine, don't worry about it." I shrug.

My breath hitches as I feel Axels hand on my shoulder, ever so gently running his hands down the strap of my bag. He then grabs it and settles it over his shoulder.

I need to bite my lip to stop myself from smiling.

"Thanks." I say timidly.

Axel grins at me and nods,"C'mon, lets go."

••••

Axel ends up taking me on a walk for ten minutes through campus and ending up on a seaside themed cafe.

The Californian sun shines down in me and the streets are quiet.

Axel and I make small talk, with many dirty comments from him thrown in, all the way to the cafe.

When we arrive we sit down at a blue booth.

The cafe is lovely, with windows everywhere and the beach theme very obvious, it has a very calming atmosphere.

"So, what did you want to talk about?" I ask, after we both order our drinks.

"I wanted to apologise for ignoring you at the gym."

I smile, so glad that he's doing this. "Why did you ignore me?" I ask.

Just at that moment, our waitress arrives and gives me my strawberry milkshake and Axel his water.

I don't even think my body even knows what water is anymore. It's coffee all the way.

"I don't know, Skylar, to be completely honest with you." Axel runs a hand through his hair. "I think I just wasn't expecting it, you know? Then I saw you and I freaked out because I wasn't used to being kissed like that."

"Kissed like what?" I ask, really hoping the answer is positive.

Axel shoots me a smirk. "I don't need to explain it, you feel it to."

I clear my throat, my cheeks burning and my stomach doing somersaults. "Fair enough." I settle on saying.

"Also, are you coming to my game on Thursday?" Axel asks, his eyes shining as hopefulness pours like melted gold into them.

"Why? It's cold and dark." I complain, sounding like a right bitch.

"Yes but at the last game you went to, you enjoyed it," He points out. "Plus, I want you to wear my jersey."

"Why?" I ask, thinking back to how I only ever see the footballer's girlfriends wearing them.

"Stop being so resistant, damn. Just wear it Skylar, I'll drop by the day of the match to give it to you."

"Okay, thank you."

••••

Axel and I talk for around half an hour, mainly about how football is going and how I just finished my new dance rountine.

He frowns when I admit that I'm not in team, but I quickly direct that subject towards something else.

We said goodbye about five minutes ago and my cheeks are still burning, despite being alone.

Placing both of my hands on my furnace like cheeks and realise I'm smiling.

What have I gotten myself into?

••••

Early update to celebrate 1K reads!! Thank you so much, I cannot stop smiling :)

However, our Skylar is very love sick right now :)

And at least Axel apologised, couldn't let him get away with that awkward run in!

Do you think Skylar will turn up to the football match?

Please remember to vote and comment, it makes my day :)

Much love,
