《Into the Deep》Epilogue

Y/N rocks gently, singing a murdukann lullaby.
I would swim a thousand leagues
From the Northern Seas to the brine
I would wait a thousand years
To see the ocean sigh
A tale spoken far and wide
A tale for you and I
Y/N trails off, rearranging the blanket in her arms. The woven kelp is the softest she could find—expertly made by Athtar's finest artisans.
Wispy black curls peek out of the bundled blanket. She brushes a finger against them, marvelling at their silken softness.
Perfect curls for a perfect little boy.
He takes after Lysanthir with his black hair and red gills. But he definitely has his mother's eyes.
Y/N rocks her baby as he sleeps. His dark lashes fall onto rosy cheeks, perfectly framing his round face. Her heart swells with love.
Elrien.
Named for Lysanthir's grandfather, a great Kyren renowned for his wisdom and strength.
And now her son will continue his legacy.
She can't believe how lucky she is. To have such a wonderful baby boy. To have a Kyren mate who would move heaven and earth for her. To be a murdukann, able to explore the oceans for centuries to come.
Elrien giggles in his sleep, blowing little bubbles as he does so. Y/N leans back in her rocking chair, singing the rest of the lullaby.
A song so sweet for sailors near
A tune for creatures far
And the light of the moon will shine upon
A love as pure as the stars.

Thank you all so much for reading Into the Deep!!
I can't believe we've reached the end of this book...but I also can't imagine never bringing Lysanthir back.
What do you guys think? I'm working on Touched by Fire (please check it out! It's got a lot of the same themes as Into the Deep) but am also open to stand alone chapters or even another story with Lysanthir / another similar character.
