《The Jock's Blackmail》#11: Spirit Animals

I frowned down at the text not really knowing how to feel. Trying to appear inconspicuous, I sweeped my eyes across the classroom and caught sight of Leo near the back of the room. It was free period, so everyone was doing whatever they wanted. Leo was talking and laughing with some friends as per usual, though he had some books laid open on his desk which his friends had congregated around.

I looked back to my phone.

I had just put my phone down on my desk when Leo's rich laughter boomed above the chatter of everyone in the classroom, making everyone turn to him. My lips twitched in a small smile when I saw him clutching his phone to his chest as he leaned back in his chair still laughing.

When he calmed down some, he bent over his phone and started typing.

"Dude! What's so funny? You gotta share!" Jeremy peeked over Leo's shoulder. "Is it that girl again?"

Leo had a grin as he shoved his friend's face away. He seems to do that a lot. "Yeah. And?"

My phone vibrated then, and I turned back around in my seat to check his reply.

Still feeling a bit suspicious, I made sure to turn down the volume, before tapping on the link. As I did, I heard one of the girls at his table ask. "What girl?"

I couldn't resist looking over my shoulder. Leo was still grinning, but didn't seem like he was going to say anything. Jeremy rolled his eyes and answered instead. "He was given a wrong number at this party two weeks ago, and he's been texting her ever since." He smacked Leo's arm. "Dude! You don't even know if she really is a girl!"

So either Leo hadn't told his friend that he sent me his nudes, or Jeremy is covering for him.

The link sent me to a site that made me raise a brow. It was one of those personality games, and this one was to find out what your spirit animal is. I'm pretty sure I took one before, courtesy of Charlie, and if my mind serves me right, I was a sloth. But sometimes these things are so different from each other that you don't get the same results. I kept half of my attention on Leo and his friends as I answered the questions.

"What would you do if she's actually some creepy perv?" The same girl asked, and I almost scoffed.

"That's what I'm saying!" Jeremy said.

"Knock it off," Leo finally spoke, his voice holding just a hint of annoyance, though a quick glance at him showed that he was still grinning. The guy was good at keeping his emotions off his face. "Until it's proven otherwise, I'm going to take Justine at her word."

I don't kmow why, but hearing him say my name made me tingly all over.

The test came to an end, and my spirit animal was apparently a butterfly. Was that even possible? But that wasn't what shocked me the most. It was the fact that at the bottom, it showed what other animals you were compatible with, and according to the test, I was compatible with monkeys, hawks and wolves.

I went back to my inbox.

..

Leo didn't reply, and it wasn't until much later when I was in the middle of my last class that he did.

That shouldn't have made me as happy as it did.
