《Shy One (Completed)》Chapter 22

Gosh darnit.

My legs were shaking so violently that the chains and shackles were clinking and clanging.

Everyone could hear how terrified I was.

I looked before me at the rouge with foam coming out of his mouth and was snarling and snapping his fangs at his sides as guards poked and prodded him to make him more violent.

I briefly looked up to see Alpha Caleb had already settled above the rouge's cage. His seat right where the rouge came out of. I was too scared to take my eyes away from the rouge so I couldn't tell if Axel was watching too.

The guards quickly fled into different corridors that were quickly blocked by silver bars.

Soon a loud gong went off as the shackles on the rouge's legs were all simultaneously unlocked and fell to the ground with loud clanks.

Well shoot.

The rouge did not notice me at first, blinded by his own madness he bolted to the side where the councilmen sat. Using his momentum he actually scaled the wall partially before the collar around his neck that did not fall off yanked him down to the ground.

He landed on his back with a cringe-worthy crunch and a loud snarl.

He quickly recovered, foam now mixed with blood was pouring from his mouth.

He was pacing on the other side of the area now, just walking back and forth as more blood poured from his mouth, just small patches of foam still remained.

Now that he wasn't moving as quickly I could see his poor condition.

Patches of his dull auburn fur was missing and I could almost see his full skeleton.

There were cuts and scars all over his back and legs from probably a whip and abuse from the guards.

He was even missing an eye, or at least I think he is.

In replace of his left eye was a large scar going over a close eyed.

"Oh you poor boy." I whispered to myself, no longer afraid but sad.

Tears brimmed my eyes as I watched him move more. He was limping on every step.

The council may see a feral wolf but I see a man in utter pain.

Against common sense I started walking towards him, the sounds of my chains catching his attention as he whipped his head violently towards me.

With an ear-piercing snarl he bounded towards me.

The world started moving in slow motion as I lifted my hands together, opening them as wide as the shackles would let me. The bloodlust in his eyes were prominent as he got closer and closer, but there was a hint of something else.

Hopelessness.

Hatred.

Sadness.

.

"I'm sorry." I whimpered, waiting with open arms, or hands, for him to come closer. As as fast as he came he stopped, his muzzle inches from my hands.

He was well over six feet, towering over me with razor-sharp canines.

But I wasn't afraid.

"I'm sorry this happened to you." Tears poured down my cheeks, it was like I could feel his pain. I reached up, touching his bloodied muzzle with my bare hands, not minding the filth transferring to my pale skin.

He closed his eye, just letting me touch his muzzle in piece.

Suddenly he let out a yelp, collapsing in front of me.

I just stared in utter shock.

They shot him.

I looked up to see a guard holding a sniper looked away from his gun and stare at his kill with just as dead eyes.

Tears poured down more violently as I collapsed onto the ground, my chains and shackles forgotten. All I could think about a wolf who I didn't even know his name.

"You bastards!" I screamed, it suddenly felt like the whole world got significantly colder, freezing almost. "I'll kill you!" I looked straight at the guard with the gun, fear struck his face like a whip. "Die." I continued to stare, feeling strength run to my legs as I stood.

The guard was panicking.

I felt the shackles around my arms and legs disintegrate into rusted powder as I walked with more and more meaning.

That guard was going to pay for what he did.

"Mable." A heavy hand fell on my shoulder as I whipped my head around to meet a pair of one red one black eyes. "That's enough."

I didn't even realize I was on the banister where the guard was standing.

I looked back down at the guard who looked like he wet himself, and by the smell he really did. He was shaking violently with fear written all over his sorry face.

He was terrified.

Of me.

Like I used to be.

I stepped back, terrified of what I was staring at.

"I-I'm sorry." I stepped back until my back touched Caleb's chest. "I'm sorry." I kept repeating over and over again until a pair of arms wrapped around my chest and face, blocking my view of the guard.

"It's okay Mable." Caleb's deep voice was comforting but it didn't wash away the horror I caused.

"Arrest her!" A councilman, probably Axel's great grandfather, screamed. There were loud footsteps and a lot of shouting and the cocking of guns.

"Everyone stop." Caleb's voice was literally chilling as the cold pricked my skin more than usual. "It is obvious that Mable is a powerful black wolf -"

"She is a danger to my pack!" Axel's great grandfather sounded close but still at a safe distance.

"So she is coming to my pack." Caleb snapped, his voice colder and harsher than usual.

"No!" Axel's voice pierced through the cold. "She is my mate! She's staying with me!"

It sounded like he was struggling and I managed to peek under Caleb's arm to see my mate's desperate eyes as he tried to break free from the guard's that held him back.

"Last I checked, you rejected her." Caleb scoffed, "So she does not have to stay in your pack." He loosened his arms enough for me to move but quickly spun me around so I was looking into his mix-matched eyes, "So Mable, I'm still going to give you the option: what pack do you choose?"
