《Shy One (Completed)》Chapter 7

"This room is mine?" I gaped at this massive room, it was as big as my shack!
"Yup," Brennon smiled, carrying some extra blankets after he decided it was too cold for me. I didn't mind the cold but he insisted that he wanted me to be as comfortable as possible. I think he's feeling guilty for leaving me by myself. "The bathroom is that door right there and you'll be sharing it with our other omegas, Rachel and Marvey."
"Okay." I took the key from Brennon giving him my best smile, trying to erase that guilty look in his eye. "Thank you so much for everything."
He just smiled, "Of course, Mable." He looked around the room, just peeking his head in like he was checking it was safe. He gave me the blankets, so many it reached my chin. "I'll check on you in an hour or two and then we can take a tour of the territory."
"Sounds good." I let the door shut behind me and I walked over to the bed, flopping on it with a loud poof. It was the softest thing I've ever felt, and snuggling in the pillows felt so soothing. But it has not even been 10 minutes since Brennon left.
Opening the door, I almost felt my eyes jump out of their sockets when I saw the luna.
"Hi, I'm Phobe." She held out her hand with a beautiful smile.

"And that's the last of them!" She cheered, removing the last of my bandages. Her eyes stuck on the scars that remain on my body from when I was younger. I adjusted the t-shirt back on, remembering the glares Clint received from both the beta and alpha at his statement.

As soon as the scars went away her smile got brighter, almost blinding my depressed eyes.
"Thank you luna." I awkwardly return her smile, feeling duller and plainer than I usually do. Up close I couldn't even see a single pimple or mole or even a freckle. She really was a living doll.
"Oh please, just call me Phobe!" She snatched up my crusty hands, letting me feel how soft and ladylike her's are. "And it's been forever since I've talked to someone who wasn't a guard or Axel!"
"Not even Bren-Beta Welsh?" I asked softly, hearing how hoarse my voice was compared to her angelic one.
Her smile faltered, "Brennon and I don't get along that well." She flopped on my bed, something I did minutes ago but she just made it look so elegant. "Can I tell you something?"
"Sure." I'm confused, why do all these people feel like they can trust me with their deepest darkest secrets. I ended up fiddling with my fingers, staring down at my sheets like they are the most interesting thing in the world.
"I think Brennon does not see me as the true luna because I'm not Axel's true mate. We used to be best friends, Brennon, Axel, and me. But when Axel turned 16 and chose me to be his luna Brennon just grew distant. Deep down I know it isn't the same as having a true mate for a luna, but I am just so selfish." She brought her hands to her eyes, "You know? Axel and I had this deal if any of us met our real mate that we would break up."
I just stayed silent taking in all this new information.
"But you love him, don't you?" I whisper, more to myself than to her.

She tilted her head towards me, staring deep into my eyes.
"Yes. I do."
Then I take a deep breathe and smile, "Then it shouldn't matter what other's say," I try to keep my voice strong, but it's usually too quiet anyways so you can't hear when it breaks and cracks, "If you love him, and he loves you back... it shouldn't matter about the true mates because if a mate truly loves each other then they would let them go."
She was staring at me for a long time, a single tear streaming down her face.
"But I feel awful," she sobbed, covering her perfect face with her hands, "What if his mate is someone super sweet, and I just took her mate away from her just because I'm selfish." I could see the tears escaping her hands and leaking onto my bedsheets.
I didn't know what to do, no one has ever admitted their feelings to me. So I did what Boras used to do and rubbed her head.
She peeked slightly through her hands, giving me a clear view of her swollen eyes. Eventually she let out a choked up laugh. "This is so weird." She sighed, "Thanks."
I smiled, not sure what to say to her. I have very mixed feeling of her. I've heard she was nice, when people were actually able to talk to her, but this is completely different from what I imagined.
"You're welcome, Luna." I retracted my hand, taking in the rest of my room as we sat in comfortable silence.
"You can call me Phoebe you know?" Was now sprawled on my bed, her eyes still a little puffy and red. "I need to go out today, right now." She sighed, turning her head slightly to me, "Wanna come?"
"What?" I immediately reacted, is she really asking me to hang out with her? Like friends do? What the heckers am I suppose to say? Yes? No? Sure??!
"Wanna go shopping with me?" She sat up, looking around mostly at my bleak closet that has only 3 sweatshirts and 2 pairs of leggings with an assortment of dull undergarments. "I feel like we need to go on a shopping spree."
I'm not sure if I am suppose to be offended or not.
"I'm good," I look in the direction of my closet as well, seeing how truely pitiful it is. "Besides, I don't have any money."
Then she grew a devious smile, "Don't worry, that's what my man is for." She laughed at her own joke, whereas I just smiled awkwardly. I don't remember the last time I had an hearty laugh, or when I had a full blown smile that would actually reach my eyes. "But no, seriously, don't worry about the money."
"Umm, okay." I whispered, almost jumping out of my skin when Phoebe shot up and gave me a big hug. If the hug was a second longer I would have thrown her off.
I can't take feeling trapped.
Unable to move.
Trying to break free just for a fresh breath of air.
I can't handle that.
