We were together all the time

-Coldplay

I fell down on the couch and groaned. This was probably my worst hangover ever. I didn't even remember how many drinks I'd had yesterday and what kind of atrocities I'd committed, because I did know there was something I'd done but I couldn't place my finger on it.

"Here." Theo walked towards me from the kitchen and handed me a glass of water which I gulped down in seconds. Then he handed me a plate. "Eat this."

I looked up at him, unimpressed. "You know I hate eating boiled eggs in the morning."

"Eggs contain cysteine and glutathione which helps to cure hangovers." He replied back and put the plate in front of me on the table. "Eat."

"You know I have no idea what you just said to me, but I trust you so I'll eat it." I huffed and grabbed the plate.

When Theo came back the plate was cleared from the two boiled eggs he'd given me, and he sat down beside me, fighting back a smile.

"You know, you were right. I feel perfectly fine now." I got up.

"We need to talk." He said.

That was probably the most dreaded line any person could hear. "What's wrong?"

"Please sit down."

"You're scaring me. Am I in trouble? Did I do-"

"No, angel. If anything I should be the scared one here." He looked down at his feet. I sat down as he'd requested but he didn't look up at me. His feet shifted nervously, his shirtless body tense.

"What do you remember from last night?" He asked quietly.

"You had a football match and you won, after which we went to a party and I got very drunk. Theo, what happened?" His posture did not convey to me what he was thinking and that scared me. Theo was one of the very few people I could read like a child's book, but right now his emotions weren't on display which only happened if he was very hurt or very cautious.

"I know you saw someone kissing me."

The giggling girl. The one who was sitting close to him and had kissed him forcefully. Yes, I did remember her.

"Look, I don't what you saw and how much you saw, but she kissed me, Mia. You have to believe me. I would never, ever do that to you. She jumped on me from nowhere and I pushed her away but it took me a few seconds to react because I was shocked and-"

"Theo." I interrupted him. He stopped his rambling and looked at me like a deer caught in headlights. I shook my head slightly and smiled. "I know."

"Yes, I know you do, you saw her and that is why you got drunk because you were mad. I'm so sorry-"

"I wasn't mad at you. I was mad at the situation and the girls throwing themselves at you. I know she kissed you and you pushed her away. I saw it, I'm not upset with you."

"You're not?" He asked in a small voice. "So, so we're fine? You're not gonna...breakup with me?"

I cupped his face. "I will not give up on you for something so stupid. You don't have anything to worry about, okay?"

He melted in my embrace, his head falling down on my shoulder, arms coming up to wrap around me. "You don't know how relieved I am right now."

"Okay." I pulled away and looked in his eyes. "How much did I embarrass myself last night? "

His face blew up into a grin, his dimple popping out and I clenched my fist to stop myself from poking my finger in it. "You danced on a pool table with your shirt off."

"What?!" I gasped out, horrified. "Shirt off?"

"Yeah, when I came to get you, it was lying on your feet along with my jersey that you're wearing right now. And you were surrounded by a bunch of," He took a deep breath. "A bunch of boys." I could see how difficult it was for him to say that because he practically spit it out.

"I literally cannot believe I would do that. You're not making this up, are you?"

"If I was I wouldn't be seething in rage at the thought of someone else seeing you like that." He muttered.

"I'm sorry, I had no idea what had gotten into me."

"You were angry. And so I'm not mad at you because you were pissed off and that had to do with something related to me."

I placed my head on his chest, listening to his heart thump. He lifted my chin up and bent down to kiss me. Every kiss with him felt like a new one. Every time he kissed me I felt like I was dancing in an open arena, as if I was the first and the only piece of chocolate he'd ever tasted, as if I was victory and he was an all time champion. I'd never doubted Theo's kissing abilities, but never in a million years had I ever thought he would be so good at it.

But kissing him wasn't just physical, he spoke all of his emotions in my mouth, the way he tangled his tongue with mine, the way he lowered me down on the couch and got on top of me, the way he still held my chin in his fingers to keep my head firm.

"Angel?" He murmured. His lips were soft like cotton, melting on my own like ice cream, and there was summer inside me for I wanted his lips everywhere on my body and cool it down.

"Mm?"

"I have to drop you home, your uncle called several times."

I nodded slightly, letting him press his mouth to mine again, giving me a last savoring kiss and getting off me. He gave me his hand and helped me up, intertwining our fingers and walking to the counter to grab his keys.

"Is there no way I can convince you to ride on the bike? I don't like the car that much." He said.

"I nearly had a heart attack the first time I sat on it." I shivered just thinking about that experience.

"Him, it's a him and not an it." He corrected me as the elevator doors closed behind us. "And I've told you I won't ever let you fall. I've never fallen down from the bike, and I actually ride much faster than I did that day, so I went easy on you."

"Well, it did not feel easy to me." I said, defensively.

"One day, you will ask me for a ride on the bike." He said. "I know it."

I shrugged. "Maybe, one day."

We didn't talk on our way home. I knew Uncle Mason would not really be mad at me or something, but I did know he would ask questions and demand answers. I glanced at the guy beside me, the one who'd never given up and fought so hard for me knowing I was messed up, and I looked down at our intertwined hands, his big hand covering mine, and I smiled. I did have people who would do anything for me, and even though I'd lost some time, I would do my best to make up to them, because they mattered.

Theo kissed me on the forehead and I noticed his car didn't leave until I reached to the door and Uncle Mason opened up. He glanced at me up and down, his eyes lingering on the jersey I was wearing.

"I assume that is his." He motioned towards the road where Theo's car just left.

"Yeah, I accompanied him to his game yesterday." I closed the door behind me. "Did you have breakfast?"

"Yeah, and he told me he'd already fed you so I didn't make you anything. What is going on, Amelia?"

"What do you mean?" I sat down on the chair.

"Look, I'm not gonna pry in your life because that is absolutely the last thing you and I both want. But I want you to be careful, okay? I don't know what's happening between you two but just, just be safe. Use protection. Don't-"

"Uncle Mason!" I sputtered out. "I'm not having sex with him."

"Oh." He looked somewhat relieved. "Alright."

"I'm dating him." I whispered, looking down, hoping he didn't hear that.

Of course my hopes went away in vain. "What? Really?" When I nodded the biggest of smiles appeared on his face. "I'm happy you're letting go of the past. What did you tell him when he asked?"

"I told him the truth. He knows."

His eyes widened, mouth opening and closing, no words coming out. When he finally composed himself, his eyes shined with pride. "I'm proud of you."

I smiled, not saying anything. He seemed to be in a state of shock, and I knew it was kind of shocking because I'd never told anyone about my past except Bridget. So I kept quiet, letting it sink in his brain that I was ready to let go of the past and move on with my life and not push away people anymore.

The smile didn't leave his face the whole day. He smiled while eating lunch, he smiled when he placed his glasses on his nose and read the newspaper, and he also smiled at me when I told him I was going to the grocery store to buy somethings. He waved his hand off when I asked him if he wanted something, and got back to his paper.

I walked down the streets, tying my hair in a knot on the top. The glass gate to the store opened automatically when I neared it and I directly went over to the food supplies section.

I was checking the price of a biscuit packet when I heard a sharp gasp behind me and the sound of something hitting the floor. "Amelia?"

I turned around, my face colliding with a familiar face I hadn't seen in five years, the same golden brown eyes, the same pitch black hair. She hadn't changed a bit. "Zoe?"

"Oh my god! I knew it was you. Oh my god!" She pulled me in a bear hug.

Zoe was my oldest friend. Even before I knew Bridget, I'd been friends with Zoe. We practically grew up together. She didn't attend the same school as me because she was a few years older than me, but we still remained pretty great friends. She moved to Texas with her boyfriend two years before I moved to Canada, and even though we still talked for a while after that, we lost contact sometime later.

"My gosh you look beautiful. I love the hair!" She exclaimed.

"When did you come back? Holy shit I can't believe I'm seeing you after so long." I said.

"I'm visiting Grandma, my flight landed just day before yesterday. I thought you'd moved to Canada?"

"I moved here a few months back." I nodded, the smile on my face not going away. "Gosh darn Zoe, it's been so long. How's Texas treating you?"

"Well," She grinned and showed me her left hand. I gasped when I saw a beautiful diamond on her ring finger.

"When did this happen? Oh my god are you married?"

"No! Ben proposed to me five months back. Come on Amelia, even though we lost contact I would have invited you to my wedding."

"I am so happy for you." I smiled, my eyes not leaving the ring. "It's beautiful."

"We haven't really decided a date yet but we want it to happen in Texas because that is where everything started to place well. I mean, we became much closer, we have more memories there, you know. You'll have to fly to Texas, I'll give you a tour. You'll love it." She grinned, her eyes sparkling.

"I am so happy I ran into you Zoe." We exchanged numbers, promising to text each other. I had felt terrible when we'd stopped talking because we used to have a special bond, a bond different from what I had with Bridget or anybody else. Yes, Bri did know me better that Zoe did, but she was my oldest friend. She'd known me longer than anyone else.

"Hey, you know what! We should meet up." She exclaimed. "Ben and I, you and Noah. Just like old times."

I froze. She'd moved out before everything happened, but I'd thought she would know. "Er, um, N-Noah doesn't live here anymore, Zoe."

"Huh?" She furrowed her eyebrows, frowning.

"He moved away a few years after you left. It's a long story."

"He didn't move away." She gave a nervous chuckle. "What are you talking about?"

"He did. He uh, he did."

"But, no, that doesn't make sense." She frowned.

"What doesn't make sense? I'm telling you he moved away. I was there and-"

"Well," The frown didn't leave her face. "He must have moved back here then, Amelia. Because I just met him yesterday at Josie's."
