《Ice cream, Teasing and Awkward Situations》Chapter 57

"Mia, stop frowning, it's not going to be that bad," May, laughed as she took in the miserable expression on my face.

We were sat on the bleachers of the school field waiting for the stupid soccer match to start. My ear were ringing from the sound of the noisy and chaotic crowd who were cheering on the cheerleads on the field below. Adding to my misery, there was also an irritating boy sat beside me, who kept jamming his elbow into my side every five seconds.

God, I hate people.

With a scowl, I watched as the cheerleaders did overly excessive flips and tricks to entertain the crows.

Show-offs...

"Well, I guess it will be bearable when Chloe finally returns with the snacks," I snapped.

It was all Ethan's fault that I was here. He had asked me to come, and I wasn't cruel enough to say no. I was so whipped, that I'd willingly suffer for a couple of hours if it made him smile.

Plus, it wouldn't exactly hurt to see him running around looking all hot and sweaty.

The turnout to the match was huge, and the stands were littered, with people wearing one of the two colors of the opposing soccer teams. Ethan's team was blue, so he had let me borrow his spare soccer jersey, so I looked more 'team-spirited' as he put it.

In reality, I knew he was probably just using it as an excuse to have his name plastered on my back since he was an overly possessive asshole.

A cute asshole but still an asshole none the less.

"Doritos, my lady," Chloe said in a posh voice as she dropped the salty goodness into my lap before taking a seat.

"Yay," I cheered as I burst open the packet. I munched away on them loudly and held them to my chest possessively.

"Ugh, why is that bitch sitting near us," May hissed as she gestured to the row of seats in front of us.

I looked down and saw she was talking about April. I was surprised to see she was sat next to Ethan's cousin, Connor. The guy gave me the creeps, but I was happy that they were together, maybe he could be a good rebound for her. They looked pretty cozy.

"May she's not a bitch," I said as I rolled my eyes.

"How can you say that? She's insane Mia! She literally slapped you just because she fancies your boyfriend. Who does that?" May said, looking at me like I was crazy.

"She was just upset and lashed out. I know what it's like to be in love with Ethan, and I was crushed too when I thought he liked someone else," I explained as I looked over at her sympathy.

"Yes, but I highly doubt you would slap the girl," May said in exasperation.

"Whatever, May, can we just drop the subject," I said in frustration.

"Look, there coming out," Chloe said, interrupting our conversation.

I focused my attention on the field and saw a flash of blue as our school team came running on. The crowd cheered wildly in excitement. I immediately spotted Ethan's hunky self, jog on to the field, and I couldn't help but smile as I saw how excited he looked.

I snorted as I saw Lucas hyping up the crowd, he was pumping his fists up in the air like an idiot. The boy was doing a better job of energizing the crowd than the bloody cheerleaders.

"What is he doing..." May, groaned as she buried her face in her hands. I just laughed harder.

He was a strange boy.

I focused my attention back to Ethan, and my heart jumped in excitement when I saw he was looking right at me. His mouth stretched out into a grin, and he waved at me. I was surprised he managed to spot me from so far away.

I smirked and decided to be a bitch by mouthing, 'Don't fuck up.' at him.

He seemed to understand, and he laughed before mouthing back, 'I won't,' with a confident smirk on his face.

An hour and a half later and both teams were neck in neck with only a minute left of game time. I had spent pretty much the whole game confused and was constantly turning to Chloe to ask what the hell was going on.

Team sports have never been my thing.

Ethan certainly wasn't lying when he said he was good. I couldn't help but be impressed by how nimble and fast he was with the ball.

Everyone watched in anticipation as a member of the opposing team gained possession of the ball and dribbled it towards their goal. Before they even got remotely close, Lucas skillfully tackled the ball from them, before booting it towards Ethan, who was free in the distance. Ethan smirked triumphantly as though he had already won, and fired the ball sharply towards the goal.

The speed was too fast for the goalie to stop, and it curved past him and straight into the goal. I surprised myself by leaping up with the rest of the crowd and screamed in victory at our school's win.

I watched in amusement as Lucas ran up to Ethan and jumped on him, causing them to both to topple to the ground.

They were such idiots.

Ethan got up with a laugh, and his eyes searching in the crowd before his eyes landed on me. He waved frantically for me to come down from the bleachers with a massive grin on his face.

I rolled my eyes before getting up alongside my friends before starting to climb down the bleachers.

Once we were on the field, May ran ahead of me and cutely jumped into Lucas' arm to congratulate him.

I smirked at Ethan and sauntered over to him at a ridiculously slow pace just to piss him. I knew he probably wanted me to run up to him dramatically and kiss him or something, but that wasn't about to fucking happen.

I don't run.

Ethan arched up an eyebrow as he watched me walk over to him.

"Only took you seven bloody years to get here," Ethan snapped sarcastically once I finally reached him.

"What can I say, I don't run," I said flatly as I shrugged my shoulders.

He chuckled lowly as his eyes took their time to roam up and down my body. "Loving the jersey. It definitely suits you," he said, a mischievous glint in his eyes.

"Really? Are you sure it doesn't have anything to do with the fact it says, Ethan in big, bold white letter across the back," I snorted.

"That obvious?" he questioned with a laugh, not even bothering to deny it.

"Painfully obvious," I said as I shook my head at him in pity.

As we were talking, he had been inching his way closer and closer without me realizing. His face was now only a small distance away from mine.

"So, Chubs. is there anything you'd like to say or do to me?" Ethan said as he tilted his head at me with an obnoxious grin plastered across his face. He was clearly expecting me to gas him up or something.

"Nah, I'm good," I smiled.

He shot me a dead-pan look, clearly not wanting to let this slide.

"Okay fine. You were amazing, Ethan. Totally swoon-worthy. Best guy on the team!" I exclaimed in an overly dramatic voice.

"How was that?" I teased.

He chuckled lowly and wrapped an arm around my waist.

"Much better," he whispered as his minty breath fanned across my lips as he leaned in for a kiss.

"Congrats Ethan," a high-pitched voice said, just as our lips were about to touch.

We both pulled apart in surprise. April stood before us with an over-enthusiastic smile on her face. Connor was stood beside her and was looking at me with a strange look in his eyes.

"Oh, hey didn't see you there," Ethan said with an awkward cough. "And thanks, I appreciate it," he said as he forced a smile.

From how tightly his lips were pressed together, I could tell that he wasn't too thrilled at the interrupted.

"Yeah, Ethan, it was a good game," Connor said as he took his eyes briefly away from me to look at Ethan. I felt Ethan's body stiffen, and his eyes narrowed.

"What the fuck are you doing here? You want to play the supportive cousin now, do you?" Ethan spat.

"Yeah, thought we could turn over a new leaf. Let bygones be bygones," Connor said as he observed Ethan with a still gaze.

"Fuck you, I won't let bygones do shit," Ethan snapped in anger.

April cleared her throat to bring our attention back to her.

"Anyway, I came over to tell you the after parties at mine tonight. Don't be late," she said with a flirty wink.

Then she turned on her heel and walked away, purposely moving in an exaggerated seductive manner as Connor followed behind her.

Okay, so I guess she was still actively trying to go after my boyfriend, wonderful!

It was becoming harder and harder to suppress the urge to strangle her. I wanted to be nice to her, but there was only so much one person could take.

Ethan snorted. "Why the fuck is she walking like that?" he said with a laugh as he watched her leave. I looked at him weirdly, wondering how he didn't seem to be remotely affected by her blatant flirting.

"You didn't find that walk attractive at all?" I asked in surprise.

"Er...no," he snorted as he looked over at me like I was crazy.

"No offense to her or anything, but I've seen Lucas give a more alluring walk than that," he laughed.

I joined in with his laughter, as a vivid image of Lucas walking in the same seductive manner came to mind.

And God, it was an awful image. Hilarious but awful.

I looked up at Ethan with a soft smile. How did he always know exactly what to say to make me feel better?
