《Ice cream, Teasing and Awkward Situations》Chapter 43

"Ethan? What are you doing here?" I heard Henry ask in confusion.
Ethan stared at him with dead, emotionless eyes. "She's sick, go home," he snapped rudely, as he started to swing the door closed.
I quickly rushed over and caught the door in my hand before it could close.
"Wait, no, I'm fine," I said in a panic. "Sorry about that Henry, come on in," I said with a nervous laugh as I opened the door wider for him to enter.
Henry awkwardly squeezed past Ethan, who hadn't moved an inch out of the way.
"My living room is the first door on your right," I called out as I gestured for Henry to go on ahead of me.
I hung back slightly so I could give Ethan a swift smack on the shoulder.
Ethan had the cheek to look innocently confused.
"What? You looked a little sick to me," he shrugged.
I just rolled my eyes at him and headed into the living room.
Henry was sat on the sofa and looked like he was patiently waiting for me to arrive. He smiled when he saw me, but the excitement in his eyes faded as he looked over my shoulder at Ethan.
"I didn't know he would be here as well...," Henry mumbled in disappointment.
"Yeah, I have no idea why he's here, just ignore him," I awkwardly laughed as I took a seat next to him on the sofa.
"Did you bring your chemistry books?" I asked.
"I'm such an idiot, I completely forget my bag," Henry laughed, as he nervously scratched the back of his neck.
Ethan, who had been standing in the doorway walked over and sat down on the armchair across from us.
"How strange. It's almost as though you weren't planning on studying at all," Ethan drawled as he raised an inquisitive eyebrow at him.
Henry shifted slightly in discomfort under the heat of Ethan's gaze.
I glared at Ethan, annoyed about what he was implying. "Or he could have just forgotten his books because he forgot his books," I snapped.
"It's fine, we can just revise from my textbook," I said as I got up to retrieve my bag from the corridor.
I quickly jogged back there and back, not wanting to leave the two of them alone for more than five seconds. I returned to the sofa with a sigh and turned to face Henry.
"Is there anything, in particular, you want help in?" I asked softly.
"Nah, you can pick," he shrugged.
"Okay, I guess we can just do thermodynamics; a lot of people find that tricky," I sighed as I turned to that page of the textbook.

I was mid-way through my explanation of a question on the page when I was interrupted.
"That's wrong, you need to divide it by two because it is diatomic," Ethan piped in annoyingly. If we were alone, I would have wrung him by his neck for being such an irritating little know-it-all.
"Actually Ethan, if you hadn't so rudely interrupted me, you would know I was getting to that," I spat out angrily.
Ethan snorted, clearly not believing me. "Sure, you were babe," he said with an amused little smirk. He was purposely trying to be a condescending dick, and it was really starting to get to me.
I scoffed. "Babe? Who the fuck are you calling Babe?" I hissed in between gritted teeth.
Henry cleared his throat awkwardly. "Do you mind if I pop to the toilet?" Henry asked suddenly.
"Er...yeah sure. It's just on the left," I said weakly, feeling guilty that I had probably made him uncomfortable.
Ethan and I both silently watched as he got up and left, and as soon as the door closed behind him, Ethan let out a loud snort.
"You scared him off with your craziness, you know," he laughed.
I glared at him. "Or maybe he was fed up with your obnoxious and condescending attitude," I sneered.
Ethan put a hand on his chin as though he was deep in thought. "That's strange, that's not what you were calling me this morning. Correct me if I'm wrong, but weren't you the one, sending me love notes, telling me how I'm a 'Keeper' and how my 'sexiness was a crime,'" he taunted.
I sank lower on the sofa, feeling major regrets for writing that shit down and sending it to him.
"I'm surprised you even remember what they said, since you ripped them up so fast," I bit back.
Henry entered the room again, and we both went silent.
He sat down next to me on the sofa again, but way closer than before. It was kind of annoying because I was already seated right up against the armrest, so I couldn't exactly move up any further.
Ethan seemed to notice too as he stiffened slightly. His eyes narrowed in on Henry's head as though he was imagining burning a hole through it.
I just decided to ignore it and went on with the tutoring session. Once I was finished with my explanation, I looked up at him.
"Does that make sense?" I asked softly.
Henry wasn't looking at the textbook though, he was looking at me. He was smiling at me and had a strange look in his eyes.
"Henry, maybe you should try looking at the textbook instead of Mia's face, might help you to understand a bit better," Ethan snapped sarcastically.

That was all he had to say, for me to throw my head back against the sofa dramatically. "You're such an idiot." I cried in annoyance. He was purposely trying to make things awkward.
"He wasn't wrong, you're kinda distracting," Henry smirked as he gave me a flirty wink.
I felt my whole face heat up, and I looked down in embarrassment.
"Are you fucking kidding me?" Ethan spat harshly.
I didn't like the sound of his tone at all, so I quickly piped in to "I think it's time for a snack break" I nervously laughed, knowing I needed something to distract Ethan from attempting to kill Henry.
"I'll get the snacks," I said as I quickly got up. "Ethan, come with me," I said as I grabbed his wrist and attempted to pull him up.
He didn't get up straight away and just continued to stare daggers through Henry's head, but eventually, he slowly got up and followed me.
As soon as the door of the kitchen had closed behind him, I squealed in surprise as Ethan snaked his hand around my waist. He spun me around to face him before pushing me roughly up against the kitchen wall.
I looked up at him with widened eyes, my breath coming out shakily from the shock. He reached out and brushed my hair behind my shoulders. I swallowed nervously as he inched his way closer to me, so his mouth was up by my ear.
He let out a frustrated sigh before speaking. "I'm still very fucking mad at you, but this needs to be done," he whispered against my ear.
Before I could so much as get another word out, his mouth descended on my neck and he started peppering kisses frantically down the side of my neck.
"What are you...," I started to say before I let out an involuntary groan, as he hit a particularly soft spot. I couldn't help but throw my head back and melt into his arms, completely forgetting what I was about to say. I felt him smile against my skin before he started hungrily sucking and nibbling at the skin as I clawed at his back in desperation.
After some time, he gave my skin a final kiss, before slowly pulling away with a smirk.
"That should get that bastard to back off," Ethan whispered as he looked down at my neck with a satisfied grin.
I widened my eyes as realization washed over me. He had purposely given me a hickey to try and make me look bad in front of Henry.
I pushed him away angrily, feeling ten times more pissed off than I had when I first entered the kitchen.
"You dick. What the hell is your problem?" I yelled, even though I was more annoyed at myself for being so easily manipulated.
"I had to, he's clearly too thick to take a hint," Ethan snapped in irritation.
"Why do you even care? I thought you were supposed to be angry at me?" I yelled in confusion.
His face hardened slightly, as though he was remembering something. "I am still very angry with you, but that doesn't mean I'm just going to stand idly by and watch your stupid tutor buddy try and work his way into fucking pants," he spat.
"Why the hell are you so dramatic? He hasn't done anything even remotely bad," I cried as I pushed past.
I quickly grabbed the biscuits from the cupboard before turning back to face him.
"As soon as he thought he had a shot with you, he did something bad," Ethan grumbled.
"Just behave," I snapped as I started to make my way back to the living room.
"Here, I got some Oreo's," I said with a smile as I sat back down next to Henry.
"Thanks, Mia, I appreciate it," Henry said as he returned my smile.
"Thanks, Mia, I appreciate it," Ethan said, intimidating Henry in a whiny voice as he returned to his seat on the armchair.
"Just ignore him, Henry, he has some psychiatric issues," I sighed.
I knew Ethan was glaring at me, but I didn't even bother look at him.
The room was silent for a few seconds as everyone just quietly enjoyed their biscuits, but of course, someone had to ruin it.
"Hey Mia, what's that on your neck?" Ethan asked with fake curiosity as he pointed childishly at my neck. The little prick knew exactly what it was as he was the one that had given it to me less than five minutes ago.
Henry turned to look at my neck too. "Erm...yeah, it kind of looks like a hickey, and I swear that wasn't there before," he asked in confusion.
Ethan chuckled in response. "Yeah, that's very true, it's almost as though Mia was messing around with someone when she went to the kitchen...," he proposed with a smirk as he took another bite of his cookie.
Henry looked between the two of us suspiciously. "Wait, are you guys hooking up or something?" He asked cautiously.
"No, of course not. He's made it abundantly clear how much he hates me," I spat as I gave Ethan a long look.
Ethan just shook his head and rolled his eyes.
"I suppose it must have been one of those stupid, blood-sucking mosquitoes," I smiled as I shot a sly wink at Ethan.
