《Ice cream, Teasing and Awkward Situations》Chapter 38

"Don't you think that's confusing?" I yelled as I kicked my locker door in frustration.

I was complained to my May about what had happened with Ethan last night. After that kiss, I had no idea where we stood anymore, and it was confusing the hell out of me.

May looked seconds away from headbutting her head against the wall.

She let out a heavy sigh. "Let me see, the boy is constantly flirting with you, he's kissed you not once now but twice, and he looks at you every day like he wants to jump you. I'm one-hundred percent sure he likes you," she yelled in exasperation.

"He just has a flirty personality, so that doesn't count," I argued. "And..and...he doesn't look at me like that," I mumbled as my face burned hot with embarrassment.

"Who looks at you like what?" a deep voice said from behind me.

I jumped in shock and turned around to see Ethan. He had managed to creep up behind us without either of us noticing.

"Oh, nothing," I stammered out nervously, praying to God he hadn't heard much of the conversation.

His mouth stretched out in his obnoxious grin. "Were you guys talking about me, by any chance? Is that why your face is turning the color of a tomato?" he teased.

"Yup," May said bluntly.

I shot her a look of irritation. "For fuck's sake, May, you're supposed to be on my side," I snapped.

Ethan started to shake with laughter, and his eyes started to crinkle at the corners. He sobered up and put a comforting hand on my shoulder. "It's okay Chubs, It's natural to wonder what I look like naked. I'm hot, I get it," he said softly, but his voice cracked slightly giving away the fact that he was trying not to laugh.

I wasn't the slightest bit amused and shot him a daggered look. "We weren't talking about that, you fucking idiot. We were discussing how much we hate you," I snapped.

"Hmm sure thing, babe," he hummed, sounding far from convinced.

"Babe?" I scoffed. "Excuse me, while I dry heave into a fucking toilet."

He smiled and wrapped an arm around my shoulder. "Aww, babe, I love it when you get all flirty," he cooed.

I slapped his arm away in annoyance, and he just laughed.

"Anyway, are you ready to study?" he asked as he rubbed his hands together in excitement.

May immediately let out a loud snort as he said this, and we both turned to look at her in confusion.

"What's so funny?" I asked.

"I just think it's cute that you guys are still pretending you actually study at these alleged 'study sessions,'" May drawled out as she shot both of us a suggestive look.

Ethan shrugged. "Fair point, we don't do shit," he said, nodding his head in agreement. He didn't seem remotely embarrassed at being called out.

"Hey, that's not entirely true, we do sometimes get a little bit of work done..." I trailed off. Both of them shot me a dead-pan look as if to say nobody is believing your bull-crap Mia.

"Whatever, let's get going then," I said as I pulled on Ethan's arm. I waved May goodbye, as we started to make our way down the corridor.

As we walked, I couldn't help but noticed the way some of the girls who passed him by were looking at Ethan. Quite a few of them would giggle and point at him or subtly adjust their clothing in an attempt to try and impress him. Of course, I understood why. He was a senior, ridiculously good-looking, and one of the star soccer players. However, this didn't help to ease the horrible jealous feeling that was bubbling up inside of me.

As I got into his car and buckled up my seatbelt, I finally snapped, not being able to hold it in anymore.

"Does it not bother you, the way those girls look at you?" I spat out in frustration, as he started up the car.

I know I sounded insane right now, but I couldn't stop the words from pouring out of my mouth. He looked towards me in surprise, clearly shocked by how suddenly I blurted that out.

"Sorry, what?" he said, the corner of his mouth curving up slightly in amusement.

I let out a heavy sigh. "Don't play dumb, Ethan. Just now in the corridor, you must have seen those girls in the corridor quite obviously checking you out," I snapped as I tightened my hands into fists.

Ethan burst into laughter. "I can't believe you're actually jealous, this is hilarious," he said as an excited grin spread out onto his face.

"No!" I yelled, a little too loudly. "I was just wondering how you can stand being objectified, that's all. I am not jealous." I stated firmly.

He just started to laugh even harder, and his eyes alight with a teasing spark. "Don't worry, I find your jealousy super sexy," he winked.

I worked hard to keep a scowl on my face, but those stupid butterflies in my stomach just kept swarming.

"But I'm not jealous..." I whined as I threw my head back against the headrest.

"Sure, Chubs. Just keep lying to yourself, and one day someone might believe you," he teased. I just gave up on the conversation and slumped back on the seat in a huff.

Soon enough, we arrived. His house was shamefully becoming my second home. His mum had even started to pick up extra groceries in the store for me as I kept eating all of their snacks.

Upon arrival into his room, Ethan Immediately threw himself down on his bed, and with a contented sigh. He rested his hands behind his head and stared up at me expectantly, as though I was some form of entertainment or something.

"What?" I snapped, feeling slightly uncomfortable.

"Nothing. I was just thinking," he smiled as he continued to just gaze at me with a far-away look in his eyes.

I just gave him a funny look and dropped down on to the bed beside him. As soon as I did, Ethan turned his head to face me.

"What was your first impression of me?" he asked abruptly. I looked over at him in surprise and paused as I tried to remember back to that time.

"Well, strangely enough, I thought you were kinda shy at first," I laughed.

"You sat right at the back of the class with your baseball cap pulled down to cover your eyes, and you barely spoke a word to anybody. But then you stood up for me," I smiled."Our mean seventh-grade teacher was picking on me, and you spoke up. You humiliated him by making funny little retorts and corrections throughout class. I remember thinking you were awesome," I said, chuckling at the memory.

"Oh yeah, I did do that, didn't I?" he smiled. God, I used to love pissing that guy off," he said with a reminiscent sigh.

"But then you completely ruined any positive opinion I had of you, as soon as you kicked your soccer ball right at my fucking face," I snapped, as I shot him a spiteful look.

He let out a long dramatic sigh. "Oh my god, Chubs, let it go, that was years ago," he groaned.

"Yeah, but that wasn't the last shitty thing you did. You've done a lot worse in recent history. Do I need to remind you of the ringtone incident? Or the blackmail? Or the many incidents in which you've stolen my food? Oh, or my personal favorite, the car ride ditch. Or the- "

"Okay, okay, I get it. You've made your point. I'm a dick, sue me," he said as he threw his arms up in the arm dramatically.

"And just for the record, I did loop back to get you when I ditched you in the parking lot, but you'd disappeared. You weren't on any of the main roads! Where the fuck did you go?" he asked in confusion.

"Oh right, I popped into the sweet shop," I laughed.

He rolled his eyes at me. "Figures..," he muttered.

His posture slackened. "No, but seriously, I'm sorry. That was a lot to put one person through, with little to no explanation," he apologized, as his blue eyes softened.

I shrugged. "It's fine, you never did anything majorly bad. If I'm being entirely honest, there were days where I kinda looked forward to arguing with you," I chuckled.

He smiled. "Same, I enjoyed it too. I was just happy that you were talking to me," he mumbled with a distant look in his eyes.

There was one question that was plaguing my mind since he told me the truth.

Why did he never stop teasing me?

Surely, he would have stopped his pranks by high school or senior year, or whenever the hell he got over his crush. But he didn't.

I suppose old habits, just die hard...

"I'd ask you what your first impression of me was, but there's no need, I already know you used to have a little crushy wushy on me," I teased, as I jutted out my bottom lip.

He scowled. "I regret telling you that," he mumbled as he shot me a look of annoyance.

"Well, you did, and now you're never going to hear the end of it," I stated smugly.

He narrowed his eyes. "If we're going to play the let's bring up embarrassing things game, I'm more than happy to play. Should I start by reminding you of all the wonderful things you did when you were high?" Ethan smirked with a threatening spark in his eyes.

Ever since that stupid night, there hasn't been a single fucking day where Ethan hasn't slid it into a conversation. That night had given him way too much leverage.

A buzzing sound went off, and I looked down at the source. Ethan's phone lay abandoned on the bed and had just flashed up with a notification.

Then I was hit with a genius idea.

Quickly, I snatched his phone and shoved it into the back pocket of my jeans before sitting on it.

Ethan looked at me like I was crazy. "Erm...Why did you just take my phone?" he asked in confusion.

"Because it's mine now," I shrugged. "If you want it back, you're going to have to promise me you'll never mention what I did when I was high and drunk, ever again," I stated firmly.

I realized if I want to get him to stop teasing me about that dreaded night, blackmail was necessary.

He stared at me for a long while before his mouth curved up at the corners. He let out a loud snort of laughter.

"Sorry, Chubs, but I'm not promising shit. It's going to be dead easy to get it off you." he chuckled as he started to sit up. He put an arm around my waist and rolled me over.

"Shit," I hissed as I fell flat on my stomach. Before he could get to it, I ripped his phone from my back pocket and shoved it underneath my stomach.

Ethan sighed. "Just give up Chubs, I'm going to get it," he sighed as he lazily tried to push me over.

I slapped his hand away and attempting to army crawl away on my stomach. I squealed in surprise as I felt a heavyweight press down on my back.

Had this dickhead seriously just climbed on to my back?

"No, No, no," I said in a panic, as I felt his hands wrap around me and slide underneath my stomach.

Crap, he's getting closer! He's getting closer! What the fuck should I do?

Not knowing how else to save it, I quickly stuffed the phone into my bra.

"What the hell?" he said in confusion, as he patted around underneath me but couldn't find anything. He huffed in frustration and flipped me onto my back, so I was looking up at him.

My eyes widened in surprise as I realized how close he was. He was bent over me and straddling me with his arms placed either side of my head.

Fuck, this kind of position never ended well for us...

"Where the hell did you put it?" he said, looking around in confusion.

"Somewhere safe," I chuckled, with a confident smirk.

He narrowed his eyes in suspicion, and slowly looked me up and down before his eyes stopped on my chest.

"You put it in your bra, didn't you," he said almost immediately.

Shit. Shit. Shit. How the hell does he know that?

He took the panicked look on my face as confirmation, and an amused smirk stretched out on to his face. "Fuck," I swore as I quickly tried to take it out again, but he was quicker than me.

I gasped as Ethan delved his hand into my shirt and into the cup of my bra. He fished his phone out smoothly and waved it up in the air triumphantly. My face burned so hotly it felt like I was on fire.

He beamed down at me. "Found it," he sung.
