《Love Me? Like You Do.》Chapter 36

The plane ride back was more or less uneventful, with everyone being too tired to do anything but sleep. Arthur was the only one who was energetic, having relaxed at the hotel and played video games, for most part of his holiday. Paula and Axky were seated together and had barely stayed awake for longer than ten minutes. Raul and Sebastian were seated at the back, separately, to avoid further water-fights while on air.
Brielle and Jack, however, had to wake up sooner than the others: they had to go to see Jack's father in Frankfurt. In fact, they had planned on staying for an entire day, in order to meet and get to know Dixon Senior's new wife.
"I am so tired." said Brielle hoarsely when Jack shook her gently awake in the wee hours of the morning, minutes before they were to land in Frankfurt. "Every muscle in my body hurts."
"I know, love. I'm sorry." said Jack as he kissed the top of her head. "I just don't think I can meet Heidi by myself."
"I love you Jack." said Brielle simply. "Don't apologise, of course I'll come with you."
Brielle's heart skipped a couple of beats as Jack looked at her in a peculiar way. His eyes were darker and a smile was playing on his lips. Brielle had no clue what was going on his mind when he suddenly swooped down and claimed her lips with his own.
"I love you," he said huskily as he kissed the corner of her mouth. "You are mine. The only woman I will ever love."
Brielle couldn't stop the sudden redness of her cheeks and felt her face heat up. His words were like hot iron against every cold opinion she had ever had of herself.
"Jack---" she said holding him close and caressing his face. He dipped his head low to the crux of her neck and gently sucked. Brielle had never felt something like that before. Her breath hitched as Jack continued his ministrations on her neck and all of a sudden she wasn't sleepy anymore.
"Please remain seated, we will be landing in another ten minutes." came the pilot's voice, interrupting them. Jack pulled back and Brielle sighed with relief. It was as though her heart had been thundering at over a 100 beats a minute.
"It's so cute that you blush when we get intimate." said Jack briefly kissing her lips again.
"I-I-have never had anyone---do what you just did---to me before." confessed Brielle. The only other man she had ever been with, had only wanted to take her clothes off and videotape it.
"Brielle?"
"Yes?"
"You have no idea how glad I am." said Jack running his fingers through her hair and pulling off the hair scrunchie. Her chestnut hair ran free and the sweet smell of her strawberry shampoo filled the air. "There will be many more firsts for you Brielle, but thank God they will all be with me."
Brielle couldn't help but smile widely: she had found her own Prince Charming after all.
Jack kissed her tantalizingly slowly before voicing out a fear.
"What if I hate her?"
"Heidi?" asked Brielle surprised.
"Yes."
"You won't. I'm sure you will love her." said Brielle reassuringly.
"You'll stay with me right?" asked Jack. He looked so vulnerable at that moment, Brielle wished she could shield him from any more failed relationships (despite being pretty terrible at choosing boyfriends herself).

"Forever and always." she said kissing him chastely on the lips as they took a deep breath and prepared for landing.

Jack and Brielle took out their luggage from the overhead compartments carefully making sure they hadn't forgotten anything.
Axky and Paula had woken up to say goodbye. Arthur was only awake because he had been served breakfast.
"Bye guys!" said Axky a little too enthusiastically. "See you when you get back home."
Half-rested and drowsy, but very much in love, Jack and Brielle descended from the aeroplane to meet up with Dixon Senior and his new wife.
"Axky that brat, he's just excited he can have some one-on-one time with Paula." said Jack under his breath. Brielle giggled as she kissed Jack swiftly at the corner of his mouth before asking, "Still sleepy?"
Jack grinned as he pulled her flush against himself. He didn't seem to care that the airport ground bus was waiting for them or the fact that they were in full view of all the passengers, as he intertwined his fingers into her sweet-smelling hair and kissed her passionately.
"J-jack," stuttered Brielle, pulling away and blushing a deep shade of red. "There are people all around."
He paid no heed to her as he brought her close to him again and this time licked the back of her ear playfully. Brielle almost jumped up in surprise.
"W-what on earth are you doing!" she hissed scandalised. Jack laughed as he put an arm over her shoulders.
"You know Brielle, I intend to do so much more to you than just that." said Jack with a smirk and wink.
"What are you trying to say?" asked Brielle nervously. "Don't tell me you'll do that at the charity event we are going to next month too. There will be even more people there."
Jack stared at her flabbergasted, taking a moment to recover from her comment. Where the hell did she come up with that? before guiding her towards the terminal.
"You're off the hook, Ms. Dane. But only because our car is waiting." said Jack kissing her and tugging at her bottom lip teasingly.
***
"You must be Jack." said an elderly woman who looked extremely elegant in a simple dress paired with pearl earrings.
Brielle could see how uncomfortable Jack was as he lowered his gaze to look at Heidi. It was certainly not easy for him to see someone else in his mother's position, even though he fully supported his father's decision.
"You must be Heidi." he said curtly as he held out his hand for a brisk handshake.
Jack this is a family, not a business gathering, thought Brielle exasperatedly.
Heidi smiled as she warmly took his hand in both of her own and shook it lovingly.
"I'm so glad to have you as my son. You see, I never got to spend any time with my own. He passed away shortly after he was born, and I lost my husband a year later to illness. I've been more or less alone for most of my life. My little school for children helps me keep from grieving." she said with a smile on her face. Brielle's own eyes were brimming with tears.
"I'm sorry to hear that." said Jack quietly. "You certainly are a strong woman. I'm sorry if I appear a bit hostile to you at the moment. I'm being very immature about the marriage, I know, but its Dad's fault for not inviting me for the wedding."

"Come on now son," said Jeffery Dixon patting Jack on the back. "It was just something that happened. And you didn't receive any of my calls."
"Sure Dad." said Jack rolling his eyes.
They were all seated at a fancy Frankfurt resturant, a plate full of delicious looking fresh buns and cheese in front of them, and Brielle was ravenous. She loved the smell of fresh bread.
"So Brielle," said Dixon Senior. "When do you plan to get married?"
"As soon as possible." said Brielle happily. "I'm just nervous about the arrangements. I'm a novice when it comes to planning events."
"I have a someone who might be of some help. My god-child is a wedding planner and she even lives in California. I'll call her right away." said Heidi taking her phone out of her bag.
"You would do that?" said Brielle gratefully. "Thank you so much."
"It's my pleasure." said Heidi getting up to make a call. "One moment please. Honey, will you come too?"
Dixon Senior nodded and the two of them walked over to the balcony a little way off.
"I could have arranged for a wedding planner myself." said Jack grumpily in a low voice. "You didn't have to take her help."
"Cut her some slack." said Brielle. "She just wants to help us out. She seems nice and probably would like to get to know us better."
"Whatever." said Jack taking out his own phone to reply to the endless number of messages.
"You know, once we are married and you are tied to me for the rest of your life, I'm going to throw that phone of yours away."
Jack didn't even bother to look up. "I'll just get a new one."
"Ugh. You're hopeless." she said pouting. "I also want a family. Two children at least."
Jack immediately tucked his phone back into his pocket.
"Now that I can help with." he said wrapping his arms around her waist and pulling her closer. "Can't wait to have you all to myself."
"You've become so romantic." commented Brielle looking around making sure they were going unnoticed.
"You're too conscious about the surroundings." remarked Jack. "You have nothing to feel embarrassed about. I'll buy this restaurant if anyone says anything."
Before Brielle had a chance to lecture him about the judicious use of his money Dixon Senior and Heidi returned and Jack unhurriedly released her.
"My god-daughter said she would love to plan your wedding." said Heidi. "She will send you a message, I took the liberty of giving Jack's phone number though."
"No problem." said Jack giving her a curt nod. "Thanks."
"Time for breakfast!" announced Dixon Senior as he picked up the menu and ordered heartily for the four of them. He sensed the coldness Jack still harboured towards Heidi and did his best to bring some light elements into the situation. "Lets see we'll have some sausages, bacon and eggs, orange juice..."
After the lovely meal and some incredible coffee (Jack wanted to take some back with him) , it was finally time for Jack and Brielle to take their leave.
"It was lovely meeting the pair of you." said Heidi. "My god daughter just sent me a message. She says she is in Frankfurt right now and will meet us here before travelling back with Jack and Brielle to the States."
"Are her flight documents ready?" asked Jack tersely. "You see our journey was pre-planned, and honestly we have a schedule that we need to stick to."
"She has her own ticket don't worry." said Heidi immediately. "In fact, after the papers in Germany published your arrival, she's been very excited to meet you."
"What's her name?" asked Brielle feeling left out.
"Oh we all call her Tessie, but her real name is Trisha Koehler."
Jack's face showed an unmasked hatred as he looked up.
"Trisha is your god daughter?" he asked angrily.
"Yes---is there a problem?" asked Heidi looking confused. Brielle had no clue why Jack was angry.
"That woman is never to set foot in my life ever again. And certainly not to plan my wedding." said Jack firmly.
"Son, who is this girl anyway? How do you know her?" asked Jack's father.
Just then a beautiful girl with long silky blonde hair, eyes the colour of aquamarine, the rosiest of cheeks and pulling off a tiny miniskirt and tank top. Every customer in the restaurant turned to look at her.
"Mama!" she cried as she ran towards Heidi engulfing her in a tight hug. Even her voice was perfect.
When she finally released Heidi, she immediately turned to look at Jack.
"JACK!" she screeched launching herself on him. She kissed his cheeks roughly before Jack pushed her away. "I missed you so much. You've become so much more handsome than when I last saw you. Is it true you beat up three bad guys on your own? I find men with strength so sexy..."
Brielle did not like this girl whoever she was. "Excuse me, but who are you?"
"Oh you must be the bride!" said the enthusiastically and kissing Brielle sloppily on the cheeks too. "I'm Trisha, your wedding planner."
Jack was clenching his fists in ill disguised anger. Brielle shuffled closer to him to ask him what was wrong.
"That girl is Claire's best friend." said Jack briefly.
Brielle gulped. Claire was Jack's ex-girlfriend, the lingerie model who had tried to make Dixon Enterprises to her name, the girl who had never loved Jack and had merely used him for money and fame.
Jack nodded stiffly. "So now what do I do? If I tell her to get the hell away from me, I'll be risking hurting Dad, because he's married to her god mother. You know what I don't care. The old man brought this upon himself. I will tell Trisha to fucking get the hell---"
"We'd love to have you as our wedding planner." said Brielle with as much sweetness as she could muster.
Jack stared at her as though she was mad. "What?"
"We are glad to welcome you into the family." said Brielle. "Thank you for agreeing to help us plan the wedding."
Trisha smiled widely and shook Brielle's hand. "I'll make sure the wedding is perfect."
What do you think of Trisha? let me know in the comments below :-)

Entangled Fates Book 1 - Quantum Beginnings
“By far, the greatest danger of Artificial Intelligence is that people conclude too early that they understand it.” —Eliezer Yudkowsky Hey all, we're moving over to book 2. This content is in a state of transition. The book is now availble on Amazon (includes extra chapters): https://www.royalroad.com/amazon/B07W1534R8 Artificial intelligence was nearly mankind’s last invention. AI took off like a rocket, then when it racked up an impressive death toll, it crashed before it could blossom and took most high-tech industries with it. Resistance and fears became deep-set. Two decades after the infamous Rev. 4.6 incidents, humanity hasn’t quit dreaming of the wealth and power that could be at their fingertips. A new generation of mega-corporations rose from the ashes. When one melds a quantum computer to a barely functional mental patient as a PR move, there are those who seek to profit, those who want to destroy it, and Alex. Alex Sage is a typical college student trying to keep up his grades and maybe find a meaningful connection with the fairer sex. Then, an automated semi crashes into his home, killing his family and turning his head into a pin cushion in the process. Alex awakens to find most of his memories gone and an illegal AI hidden in his brain implant. Now the pet project of a tech billionaire and heavily in debt, Alex struggles to stay valuable enough to be kept online. Still grappling with the repercussions of his injuries, and threats from a dangerous anti-augmentation political movement, there are no easy answers and threats loom around every corner. Alex must use whatever resources he can to escape from under the thumb of a ruthless corporation, while keeping those he comes to love safe. Chapters will stay up on RRL until Aug 10. It'll go up on Kindle Unlimited after that. How do you get those extra chapters I didn't have planned for RR? If you want them, they'll be in the published book. Book 2 will still make sense without them - I made sure of that. But... isn't $3 a lot for extra chapters? Think of it as tipping me for a good job and you'd also be getting my eternal thanks. If you enjoyed it so much that the idea of missing out a few chapters haunts you, I did my job as an author and made an engaging story. What's in those extra chapters? Resolving a few issues, set up for the cybernetic revolution, a rather intense sex scene with a new partner, revelations of who's really pulling strings, and a bit of set up for book 2. Complaints that people missed out on it when it was published here won't help (sorry!). I posted this for the folks who helped me shape the book, which is you all! (Again, yay!) But... Why! Why not keep it all on RR forever? My editor likes being paid for one. For two, I'd like the ability to get broader readership. If I break even on editor costs, I'll be incredibly happy. What about book 2? Drafts for Book 2 will go up around Sept 10. My draft of Book 2 is done, and it will be handed to the editor once Book 1 is published. Feedback has been even more positive. Beta readers devoured it and wanted more. I'll add a link to Book 2 once it's up on RR. I'm more or less, using you all for Beta Readers, so you get it before it's "canon" and edited. I invite active and meaningful feedback during this process. In return, you get early access to chapters. That does mean that the book content or plot might be adjusted before it gets published as I refine it. Sex Y/N? Yes. I heard the feedback, 90% wanted it explicit. You all will get the "full" experience. Will I dump all of book 2 here? Honestly, I'm not sure yet. At a minimum, it'll be up to the 75% mark as we collect feedback, much like what I did with book 1. It really depends on how good the feedback is and how nice people are. Lots of support + meaningful feedback to make it better = higher likelihood you get all the book. Will be it up here indefinitely? No, it'll probably go up on KU at some point, but I'll make sure there's enough time for a large readership to grab it here. Then we move to book 3 which already is around 60K words already. What about other adventures in the same universe/characters? Yep. Absolutely. Nothing ready to share yet though. I plan to keep those side chapters and more slice of life stories as RR exclusive. Since I'm carving this off in book-sized segments, I'll have to figure out where those disconnected story arcs belong. I'm open to suggestions.
